Once they had located their home in the housing area, Emersyn began her rounds of onboarding business. She wore regular civilian clothes for these meetings, there was not need to broadcast that she was the new Judge Advocate General on the station. She walked to the administration building and entered with her credentials and went to the reception desk “I’m here to see Mr. B’tren-Hyrushi.” She said “I’m Emersyn Gray and I am reporting for duty.” She saidJAG
The receptionist looked up “Give me a second and see if the Governor is available.” She said “Please have a seat, it will be just a moment.” Emersyn sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting room and looked through one of the four pads that she had with her, this one was her personal PaDD that allowed her to see her work email and anything that she needed to know.
JAG
OOC: Feel free to start something with Eela, since Emersyn technically is under her command as the Commander-inChief. The Governor doesn’t handle Starfleet personnel. We can discuss how the hierarchy works and whether Captain McBride is also her CO (I would think so but it’s a conversation to have). ~Linds
Emersyn looked at her PaDD and gave an inward sigh. She was meeting the wrong person. She gave the receptionist a vague smile ” Apparently I am supposed to be meeting with the Lt Governor. ” She said pinching the bridge of her nose…this was not a good start, at least she had caught her error before she was sitting in front of the Governor.
Emerysn excused herself and headed three doors down and the Lt Governor’s office. Stepping into the Lt Governor’s outer office, she smiled at the receptionist there. “Lt Cmdr Gray, reporting for duty if the Lt Governor is available.” Emersyn said with a slight smile.

On Dasca’s floor (the 48th of 49), the receptionist looked up from the L-shaped front desk that had an office slash storage space behind, and an office to the right. Between them was an entry hallways to the Lieutenant Governor’s office.
The Napean at the desk had vibrant purple hair and greeted her with a small smile, sensing the slight unease in their new guest. “Good day, Commander. I’ll just check if she’s ready for you. We’ve been running a little behind schedule lately.” With so many people on the schedule today, they playing catch up after Dasca’s impromptu time off.
Emersyn nodded “I understand running behind.” She said with a slight grin. The lawyer was wearing a crisp uniform of the JAG office. Her blonde hair was pulled into a braid and wound around her head and was pinned tightly at the back of her head.
Elema turned and spoke into her comm and then looked up. “You can go on in.”
Emersyn nodded her thanks and headed toward the open door. Stepping into the office, the JAG officer immediately appreciated the view outside and the shading. She had had many offices where she had requested shades to help with the glare, especially when she was preparing for a major case and was working long hours.
Sreer triggered the door to open, admitting the lawyer into the large rectangular office, which took over the corner of the building and was filled with windows directly ahead and to the right. Dasca’s polished black desk was L-shaped and set in the right corner so her back was to the windows, but she could gaze out along the long side. At this time of day, when the sun was shining on this side of the building, the windows were strategically tinted to block glare on her computer screen. In front of her desk were two chairs backed by a decorative screen made of transparent glass tiles creating a mosaic of a mountainous landscape with a large waterfall. Hooked off the side of her desk was a simple black cane that nearly blended into the desk.
On the other side of the screen was a large oval table in the same black polished wood as her desk. It was set with many chairs around it that could double as a meeting space as well as a dining table. Adjacent to that in what was framed as a U-Shaped sitting nook were a large dark blue couch flanked by two light grey arm chairs nestled around an oval coffee table. It was something of an art piece, with a clear glass top and the base was a dark wood spiral that narrowed down to a round footing. Matching side tables were tucked in the ‘corners’ between the sofa and arm chairs.
Throughout the space were plants of various sizes from small trees to a living arrangement on her desk in a stone bowl. Hanging plants were strategically hung from the ceiling to take up blank space or help divide the large office into the cozier work and lounge areas. The interior walls held a couple abstract paintings in sweeping strokes and muted tones that added to the calming feel of an office that was almost always busy. Near her desk was a freestanding trellis with a trailing plant with chartreuse heart shaped leaves, edged in black with bright pink veining. One of the vines had crept down to the floor and was pointed in the direction of her chair.
Rising from her desk, Eela Dasca cut an elegant figure in a well fitting navy suit. Her blazer was open to reveal a bright and colourful floral blouse. Short low heeled boots completed the outfit. Her black hair was swept into a twist, the subtle silver streaks swirling. She rose carefully from her desk and smiled, her hazel eyes taking Emersyn in as she gestured to the chairs in front of her desk.

Emersyn stepped forward “Ms. Dasca, Lt Commander Emersyn Gray, reporting for duty as the new JAG aboard the OED.” She said and extended her hand as she stepped up to the desk. The attorney was mostly business unless she was with her family and then she had had to learn to turn off her work self to be fully present for her family. It had been much easier since the baby had come along…but there were still times that she had to be away for extended periods, which was one reason she accepted this posting, she could bring them with her.
Gray (JAG)
Eela was selective about contact for reasons that were not immediately obvious unless they knew Haliians, but in her Starfleet career, she had found it easier to not overthink these exchanges and simply batten down the hatches and shake hands. She really didn’t mind most days, but she was still having a hard time finding her equilibrium after recent events so this small action required more effort on her part. She shook Gray’s hand with the firmness one would expect from a former Starfleet captain. “It’s nice to meet you, Commander. I’m Eela Dasca. I’ll accept Captain Dasca, though I try to keep my rank only for when I’m dealing with Starfleet matters, or personnel such as yourself.”
“Come over and join me in my sitting area,” she said, moving around the desk and crossing the office and taking up residence in one of the two grey arm chairs. She used her hand to brace herself on the arm as she sat, careful to keep her motion as fluid as she could, the slight whir of her antigrav brace aiding her shift in position.
“You’ve come at a critical but also chaotic time here on Oed. How much have you been briefed on and how much have you followed events related to our dealigns with the JAG office?” Eela asked

Emersyn joined the Lt Gov in the sitting area “I have been given high lights, I prefer to gather the majority of my evidence and information from the sources.” She said as she settled into the other chair “What I do know is in accordance with what you said, it has been turbulent, what additional details can you give me?” She asked.JAG
“Well, the negotiations with the Vren won’t involve your office, but it’s good to keep close tabs on everything lest any cases arise because of old feelings getting people into trouble,” Dasca said. “But the situation more relevant is the Vargas case and the various courts martial that are currently taking place. So far, none have been concluded, but we’re expecting at least a couple to wrap up shortly. My own contacts at the JAG HQ tell me that while anything could happen, it looks quite likely that there will be a slew of guilty verdicts. The evidence is pretty damning and there’s been very little to defend.”
OOC: There is link on the MOTD in the news section with the Press Release revealed to the ‘Starfleet Incident’. I can give you more details in DM that Gray would know if you’re not familiar with them.
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Emersyn nodded “I have read some of the highlights of the case and will need to get myself up to speed since I have the feeling this is going to be very sensitive and may well lay groundwork for new policies and procedures.” She said thoughtfully “I find it curious that any officer in Star Fleet would think this was acceptable behavior.” She said making a mental note to look at the entire case so that she was up to speed in case she needed to step in on one of the hearings.
“What are your thoughts on this?” She asked looking the Lt Governor in the eye.

Eela snorted. “Besides the fact that any decent Commanding Officer would have stopped the whole thing in its tracks well before it forced a service member to leave for his own self-preservation? If it weren’t for the fact that the CO was already retired and everyone is going to know key members of his senior staff were charged with these crimes, I’d have pushed for him to be included. But he’s not in a position to harm others by the same negligence, nor would Starfleet hire him in a civilian capacity now either.”
She sat back and huffed, clearly miffed by the whole thing. “As a former therapist, the sheer lack of compassion and help for Vargas on the part of the counsellor just makes me want to break things, even now.” Dasca smirked at Gray. “The day I investigated I was sorely tempted to ask Lord Duroc to let me borrow a bat’leth and give me a room they didn’t care about.” That hot rage was still within her, but it had mostly cooled once the wheels of justice had begun rolling.
OOC: Replied. The second repsonse has the investigation thread link that is most useful. :)

Emersyn nodded appreciating the Lt Governor’s feelings “It sounds like a lot of parts failed and that should not be happening in any agency or government.” Emersyn gave Eela a smile “I will do my best to make sure that those responsible are brought to justice. I may see what we can do about the Commanding Officer as well, he may no longer be in a position of authority but if he was in command at the time of the incident, he has culpability in the incident.” She said thoughtfully tapping her chin with a finger. “I’ll do some research and see what we can do about that.” She made a mental note to look further into the situation.
(OOC: sorry for the delay- medical issues have knocked me on my backside)
“I mean, if you think it’s worth pushing for, I say go for it. Technically, the events took place while he was still in Starfleet, so him being retired shouldn’t matter. JAG HQ is focusing on the courts martial for those involved and those are the cases they felt they should pursue.” Eela snorted. “But honestly, the whole lot of them make me angry, so if he can get more than just a bit of bad publicity, I’m all for it. Keep me in the loop.”
Eela leaned back in her seat, mindful fo her back, though it was doing pretty well today. “As you settle in, you’ll want to meet with Captain McBride. He’s the CO around here ad whom you’ll deal with on a day-to-day basis. But any legal matters involving Starfleet that are beyond the scope of individual misdemeanours, I want to read in ASAP, understood? I don’t want to hear about things after, especially if it’s Command telling me.”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Emerysn nodded “Of course ma’am. I don’t like blind siding people with things if I can keep from it. Captain McBride will be my next visit. Any other matters that I need to know about before I walk into my office in the morning?” She asked a serious look on her face
JAG
“Judicially? Not that I can think of. There are a lot of things going on right now that affect us all but nothing that your department would need to step into, at least at this point. Mostly I just want to make sure that Oed knows that on the Starfleet sie of things, we’re not letting things slip through the cracks.”
