OOC: This is likely for all cabinet members and Senior Starfleet officers, plus others who think they would be here. There is, of course, extra security, so keep that in mind. She moved across the foyer and opened one of two very large wooden doors carved in bas-relief with floral motifs and scrollwork around the borders. Inside the generous space with polished wood floors was the ballroom used for formal events. Today was its first event. Chairs and benches were set out to accommodate the various guests that would be arriving any time now. There was a podium at the front of the seating area that was to the right of a table draped in a black tablecloth. It had an arrangement of lovely flowers, an ornate metal box, and a large framed photo of Dash. She had asked his mother which one she thought would be best, and they agreed on this one. It wasn’t an official portrait. Instead, it was one of Dash leaning against the embassy on Coridan. A Federation flag could be seen fluttering in the background, and Dash as just looking over something outside of the frame. He wore a contented smile.
Somewhere, Revna was helping their new staff prep for the ceremony and the reception. Dash’s family was calling in for the ceremony over subspace, so a large screen had been set-up and a tech was working on getting the connection sorted.
Revna was in the ‘business’ end of the embassy where all the planning and preparation took place. She was helping to organize the temporary help and make sure everything was going smoothly and to plan. Taking care of any hiccups and fires so that Jeannette and her family could focus on mourning rather than working.
Revna, Lady McKenzie
In long sleeved black dress to the knee, Jeannette Mathis, Federation Ambassador, surveyed the setting and willed herself to find some sort of strength to make it through this day. She had gotten past the accidental we in conversations, and she was feeling that vacancy deeply in this moment..

He was allowed to be here, but despite that simple fact, Rafael Leandro Torres felt awkward as hell as he gave his name to the Starfleet security guards at the entrance of the embassy. The place was closed to the public, but his name was on a list. He’d been invited and had received the invitation from the Ambassador herself. He wasn’t sure whose idea it was but he was grateful to be allowed to be here. The only difficulty was that he wasn’t sure how to handle this event. Hell, he wasn’t sure how to handle this day at all. What he wanted was the very thing he had to avoid.
Dressed in black pants and a black button down shirt, he at least looked tidy. His black shoes might not be formal, ut they were clean and drew not obvious attention.
Walking through the foyer, he turned in place and took in the elegant building, appreciating the architectural details. When he came to a stop, he was facing the open doors of the ballroom. He saw her there, the older woman with the bright blond hair. Summoning up his courage, he stepped through the doors, but she had turned her attention on him before he even made his presence fully known.
She smiled, even if it was small and sad. “Mr. Torres, I’m Jeannette Mathis.” She held out a hand, so Raf moved over and shook it firmly. “Ma’am,” he said respectfully. He wasn’t entirely sure on all the protocol, but he figured if he led with respect, he’d be fine.
“I’m glad you were able to come. I know Dash would have wanted you here,” Mathis said.
Torres nodded. “I.. I think so to, so I’m glad for the invitation.” He tried to not be nervous, but he could hear the slight tremor in his voice.
Jeanette’s expression, having been mostly a professional mask, softened. “Rafael. I don’t know all that happened between you and Dash, but I do know he believed in you. That’s enough for me. So know that you are welcome within these halls. And if you fel like speaking today, you’re are welcome to as well, but no obligation. This is going to be a very easy-going affair.”
“Just like how he would have wanted it. No fuss,” Raf said, actually smirking.
Jeanette smiled and nodded. “Help yourself to a beverage if you like. Others will be joining us soon.”
He nodded and headed over to the long tables along the side, grabbing a glass of water. It would at least keep him busy and steady his nerves.

Sharah had never met Dashiel Jones formally. She had crossed paths with him at the Gala briefly, but she knew he was special to Eela. Even if she wasn’t required to be here as a senior staff member, she would be here for Eela. She entered the embassy, looking around out of curiosity. She was wearing her headband, Yavia having helped her with it earlier. She was exceedingly grateful for Kenzo having had it made for her. An event like this would be nearly impossible to attend and act normal as the grief of so many overwhelmed her.

Karina moved up the stairs and entered the embassy. It was such a sad occasion and the first official function to be held here. It only reminded her of how precarious the current situation was. She followed the directions of the security staff after being cleared. She entered the space and looked around. She spoke quietly to one or two people she knew as she made a way towards a seat for the service.

OOC: We can tag people as they enter the thread so no one misses anything. Untag yourself if yo’d prefer not to have them. :)
IC:
A slider pulled up to the entrance, past where the media had been pushed back to to allow some privacy for the attendees. A CCDA agent stepped out first and then a man in a Starfleet flag officer’s uniform with rear admiral pips. A black band circled his left arm. Tall, and older, with white tinging some of his ginger hair and beard, he offered out his hand. Eela accepted this hand and pulled herself out. She could hear the press, calling her name, calling out questions. She ignored all this as she inwardly steadied herself, tucking a loose strand of her dark hair back under the hood of her mourning garment. Some might think it simply a personal choice to dress head to toe in a medium grey outfit, but as Caridee exited the slider after her mother, she was wearing a very similar garment, though instead of a long overdress, she had a shorter tunic over her leggings. Kian and Alais were not with her.The trio entered the embassy and Eela took a deep breath, taking in the somber atmosphere. She herself was not somber, but had been exceedingly quiet all morning. Few words had been shared, but thus far Roger and Caridee let her be. She had to find her own way of coping, but they were there for support.
Eela moved over to Jeanette, who reached out her hands to Eela. The two clasped hands and shared a long look before Jeanette nodded. Eela introduced Roger and Caridee and then excused herself for a moment.
Winding through the growing number of people, Eela spied Sharah and approached. “Hey,” she said softly, her tone and demeanour neutral, but not empty like she had been during the Kuskaaritz. She still had emotions, but she was keeping them as contained as she could, which showed in her bearing, even if her emotions weren’t readable at the moment. She wanted to say something more than that one simple word days after things had been so complicated and dangerous, but for the moment she started there.

Sharah turned and walked over to her and wrapped the woman in a warm hug. “Eela.” There was no telepathic presence to the doctor today. She smiled at Caridee over Eela’s shoulder. Then she stepped back, “How are you holding up? Anything I can do?”
Caridee caught Sharah’s smile and gave a soft smile and nod in return.
Eela hugged her friend back and then gazed at Sharah, drawing in a deep breath. She was aware of the fact that she couldn’t sense Sharah in the same way and tucked that away for a later moment. “I’m.. okay? As far things go.” She shrugged. “It’s been up and down, and I’m taking it a day at a time. But I’m very glad to see you. Your presence helps.”
“How are you doing?”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Outside, a blacked out, unmarked slider pulled to a stop in front of the embassy. As Alston stepped out, dressed in a black suit, shirt and tie, he took in how much the atmosphere around the embassy had changed to reflect the moment.
Stepping inside the embassy, he nodded to a few people he recognized before moving into the ballroom to find a seat.

Mathis was still talking with Admiral Kellen and Dr. Sevren when she felt the familiar presences of her beloved and their son. She turned her head as Ren approached in black trousers and a long sleeved black blouse. Jessie was dressed in a black suit. She gave both of them a hug and then introduced them to their other guests.
Spying Mace, Jeanette gave a nod to the man, appreciating his presence.
