Séan sat at his desk at his office and was pondering an idea. Mika had been released from the hospital and was supposed to be resting but her stubborn self insisted on coming into the office even if she couldn’t see patients yet. He had an appointment in about an hour with Eela, and while Mika seemed to be doing great on surface with the support of the rest of the staff, he was hesitant to leave her. Perhaps it was his overprotectiveness rearing up but he didn’t want to let her out of his sight until he was sure she was fine. So it was either reschedule the appointment or take her with him.

With a sigh he rose from his desk and walked to her office. He knocked lightly on the door frame. “Hey do you have a minute?”

Mika had been released. She was healing well physically, but the psychological scars were readily evident - even now as she looked up, startled, at the knock on the door frame.

Coming to the office, even though she wasn’t yet cleared to see patients, offered a sense of normalcy. Normalcy she’d craved since… Well, since she woke up in the hospital. She went over charts, notes from the fill-in therapists that had treated her patients, did paperwork, caught up on departmental things. Anything she could find that needed doing.

People kept asking if she was okay, should she be working, she wished they’d stop. She just didn’t want to think about it. She wanted things to be like they were.

She smiled up at Séan. “Of course,” she said, with all her normal cheeriness she could muster. “What do you need?”

Séan smiled back at Mika as he entered her office and took a seat in front of her desk. “So I’ve got an appointment in about an hour but it’s one where I’m going to have to do a house call. I was contemplating on whether to reschedule it on the possibility that you needed me for something but then I had a thought. Would you like to go with me?”

Counselor Iven

“Oh. Uhm.... I’ll be okay.” Mika replied uncertainly. “You can go. I don’t want to keep you from your patients.” She was noticeably nervous. “Sharah… She’ll be here. Or Hannah.”

Séan shook his head. “No, it’s an either or thing Tandra. Either I go and you can go with me or I reschedule and stay with you.” He wasn’t forceful with his words but he made it clear that he was firm on this. “You had me promise that I won’t leave you alone and for the things that I can control I plan on keeping that promise.”

Counselor Iven

Mika locked eyes with him a moment - that defiant look of hers. But then she broke away and began grabbing her things. “Okay, let’s go.”

“Hold on a second.” Séan said with a wry grin while he held up a hand to to indicate Mika should stop. “I was checking with you first before I was going to check with the patient. No sense having to call her twice if she approved but you didn’t and I’d have to cancel. And with it being in an hour we don’t need to leave right away. So I’ll go call her then pop my head back in if it’s cool with her and when we should leave.”

Counselor Iven

“Okay, go call her, and I’ll finish getting ready to leave.” Mika said. “Then I’ll be ready when it’s time.” She said and smiled and shrugged.

Séan nodded then got up and went back to his office. After getting sat back down he let out a deep breath before putting in a call to Eela.
