: : : Kira snorted under her breath. Keep her warmed up indeed. Translation: Keep waiting. For some reason Kira was eager to be off. She started a scan on long range sensors just to keep herself busy.

: : “Yes, let’s get going. The sooner we’re on our way, the sooner all of this will be clear to everyone,” Halai replied. She gestured to Maclaren. “This is Ensign Valkaris MacLaren, who is going to be giving me a security perspective on my endeavours. Valkaris, this is Michael Conrad, our captain of the Black Sparrow.”

: Conrad nodded his head in her direction with a quick smile. He then gestured to ramp leading up the ship. “Step lively ladies and gentlemen, we’re in for a wild ride!” he said with some amusement. The people boarding the ship had no idea what the Black Sparrow was fully capable of. To be fair, Conrad was probably the only one able to know fully, besides Kanok. His new tactician was in for a wild ride herself. Come to think of it, he needed to get to know her better. Their agreement had been fairly loose as he needed someone quick. On the journey he was going to make a point to find out her intentions with his ship and its secrets.

: Akem moved forward first. “I’ll just go ahead and finish prepping the medical area,” he said before stepping onto the ramp, the sound of his feet disctinctly stepping firmly on the ramp. Before disappearing into the corridor the ramp led to, he turned back to Michael Conrad. “If you could send them as soon as you can, I’ll get them prepped for the journey.”

: Conrad nodded as he gestured for everyone else to climb aboard. “Ladies first,” he said with a bit of humor.

Halai quirked a lopsided smirk as she moved part Conrad and Akem and stepped onto the ship that would be a temporary home to and from her homeworld. Or at least, one of them.

Valkris’ head tilted slightly in suspicion. It wasn’t hard when she was in unfamiliar territory and on edge about going into some unknown place. However, the desire for answers drove her onward. Deciding not to speak what was on her mind, Valkris followed Cosgrove into the ship.

Conrad rose an eyebrow as she passed. He was the last to board.

In the corridor he ensured that Akem went straight to their medical bay to get things situated. He then turned to see everyone before. Realizing they didn’t know his ship, or at the very least, they shouldn’t, he moved past them and stated. “Follow me,” as they made their way to the bridge.

Halai’s scientific mind was accustomed to observation and detailed recollection, and so she took in not only the layout of the ship, but also all the small things that made it what it was.

On the way to the lift, they would note the ship wasn’t like your typical Starfleet ships with all the wiring and chips perfectly placed. Their were some panels missing here and there. Some burn marks from who knew what. But while she wasn’t the prettiest ship inside, she still had quite some character. “Forgive the imperfection of the place. Ships like this require funds to fix.”

Walking along the corridor, Cosgrove’s brushed the wall with the tips of her fingers, seeming , perhaps, unusually focused. There was a serene expression on her face as she did so, as if she was getting something tangible from the bits of metal. “No apologies are necessary, I assure you,” she said softly.

The lift doors opened and he ushered them all inside.

Halai entered the lift and stood next to Conrad, gazing up at hi with the same serene expression she had had in the corridor. To some, it might seem odd or unnerving since she had people remark on more than one occasion that it was like she were seeing through them. It wasn’t far off from the truth, but it was also hard to explain. “Once we get situated, I want to do a quick briefing for whomever might go on the surface with me to make sure they are aware of the delicate nature of this adventure.” There was no other way to describe the trip really, since no matter what happened, it would be an adventure.

Michael did find it odd, but he had been around psionics before. Perhaps she was such a person? Truth be told he had no idea. But there was a good way to test it, as he had with so many others in the past. All in a few second though.

Michael nodded with a grin. “And who all are you expecting there?” he said before the doors of the lift opened and he gestured for them to move onto the bridge. “After you,” he merely stated.

Halai stepped onto the bridge and looked round before turning to Conrad. “Whomever might join us on the surface. Obviously the three of us”-she gestured to herself, Valkaris and Rob-“and I believe you want to go down,” she said with a keen knowing.” If there is anyone else who could possibly beam down, even just to visit for a bit of R&R while we are there, I would recommend they attend too.”
