Tate nodded and stepped to the side to make the call to EMS, calling for immediate medical attention, giving the address and the apartment number.

It looked like someone had rummaged through the place, as if they were looking for something. with drawers were left open and cushions overturned. But there were broken items too, especially around where Jones was lying on the floor. He was in the open space between the bedroom and living area, with his head towards the bedroom.

Jones himself was lying on his back with his eyes closed and it was clear he had been in a fight with someone. There were obvious contusions on his face and also on his right hand. He was not moving and it did not seem like he was breathing.

Outside in the hall, a part of Jean already knew. She didn’t hear Dash’s voice and that sickening feeling hadn’t left her. She leaned against the wall near his door and closed her eyes, trying to steady herself.

The next thing Timothy did, was to go over and check the pulse of Dash. He walked over to the body and carefully put his fingers on the downed person to check their pulse. He wanted to confirm what he believed was going on.

NE Timothy Murdoch
Star Fleet Security Officer

There was no pulse.

~Ambassador Mathis & Ensign Tate, Security

Tim was afraid there would have been no pulse but wanted to confirm. With the information he had gathered by the lack of pulse and the state of the apartment, Tim believed calling the police to handle this matter would be the best method to move forward. He then tapped his comm and said =/\=Star-fleet security officer Murdoch to the Police, I believe there has been a homicide at the Jones’s residents. Please send a team to do the investigation please. I have confirmed that Dash Jones has no pulse and the apartment is in much disarray. =/\=. After contacting the authorities, Tim stepped back out of the office and addressed Jean, “I am sorry to let you know but Dash Jones has passed. I am not going to be able to let you enter the apartment at this time. But I thought it would be best to let you know.” He then stated to Tate, “I have contacted the authorities to come and investigate. Thank you for alerting the EMTs. We will have to let them take over once they are here. I am going to stand at the entrance of the apartment until the Police are present to take over the scene.” He knew a major reaction was coming from Jean but keeping everyone away from the possible crime scene was extremely important. He was prepared for the worse out of Jean.

Ensign Murdoch
Security Officer

The police dispatch answered in a calm professional voice “CSU, Constables, and detectives are being dispatched to your location, Ensign=^= It wouldn’t take long,a CSU team was on standby at all times, two hover-cruisers were diverted to the Apartment Complex and the Major Crimes division was notified of the incident as was standard protocol for Starfleet related crimes.

Tate nodded quietly, mindful of the delicate situation.

Jeanette Mathis, Ambassador to the Federation stared at Murdoch with intense pale blue eyes and a sense of resignation. “I’ll believe it when a medical professional has confirmed it,” she said simply and went back to leaning against the wall, a sentinel for the man who had been at her side for eight amazing and complicated years.

A pair of medics appeared in a swirl of lights outside the building. They showed their creditials and were escorted up. An ambulance shuttle was only a minute or so behind them. They stepped off the lift and looked around, spotted Murdoch and addressed him. “Can you take us to the patient?” They were unaware as of yet that Murdoch had discovered a dead individual and not an injured/sick one.

Sacred Heart Parametics

Mathis turned her head to take in the medics and suddenly things were feeling real. Or maybe sureal? she wasn’t sure how to describe the sensations in her body. Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her comm unit and called Ren. The voice of her dearest was calm and soothing, though Jeanette could hear the worry in their voice. Those around her got one side of the conversation due to the earpiece she wore. “There’s inside and the medics have arrived… No, I don’t think so. Murdoch said as much too. I’m waiting for confirmation but I think you should call Dasca back. Either way, it’s not good… mmmhmmm. Yes. Call me after you talk to her. Love you too.”

With a deep sigh, Mathis closed her eyes and continued her vigil at the door.

The first members of the Oed Police Department to arrive were a pair of uniformed constables, the elder of the two walked directly up to the Security Officer but when she saw Mathis he seemed to pause for a moment as if unsure what to do “Ensign Tate?” He asked “I’m Sergeant Montoya, this is PC Green” She introduced her fellow officer “We’ll be securing the scene after the Medical staff has finished, are there any other people here besides yourself or the Ambassador?” She asked.

Tate nodded. “Ensign Murdoch is just inside and secured the scene until the medics arrived. He’s on the Ambassdor’s security detail for the night, and I’m in charge of building security.” He gulped and frowned. By his quick glance around the apartment, he was certain that this was going to be a very long day and it was only 0530!

As the Sargeant and Ensign talked a tall man walked down the hall, he wore a brown coat over a rustic suit jacket, dark grey shirt, and red tie. He had slightly curved ears and black eyes. He also had dark spots going down his neck, barely visible compared to his dark skin tone. He was trailed by a much shorter man in dark clothing. He pulled out a small device from his pocket, it lit up revealing his police identification “Detective Chief Inspector Pangolin” He introduced himself to the Ensign, giving the Sergeant a slight nod. He looked through the doorway and surveyed the scene, he glanced momentarily at the Ambassador but gave no reaction at seeing her “Talk me through it” His accent was noticeably Oedvian with a slight Earth English mixed in. He looked directly at the Ensign “You were first on scene?” he asked.

DCI Pangolin & Oed Police.

“We were,” Tate said and dropped his voice. “Murdoch went in first. We were requested to do a wellness check on Ambassador Mathis’ attaché, one Dashiel Jones. They gave advanced notice of their intentions, and I escorted them up here to apartment five-oh-six. The ambassador knocked and rang the chime but there was no answer. She called out to let him know she was there, but still nothing. That’s when I let Murdoch in and provided backup. The ambassador was asked to wait in the hall. Murdoch saw the prone body and instructed me to call EMS. I stepped back to the door to make the call and then Murdoch came out and said Jones was dead. But Medical only just arrived, so… yeah.”

Meanwhile, Mathis was listening to everything, knowing there was a lot more to fill in that the young ensign didn’t know, but there would be time for that soon enough. Were they trying to resuscitate Dash? It was physically painful to be waiting out here. She needed her own confirmation, something, anything to still that panicked knowing from earlier that had not died but quieted to a manageable simmer.

When Tiberius took a step out into the hall he saw the EMTs present. He heard what was asked and knew he needed to respond. He then looked over Detective Chief Inspector Pangolin and said, “I was the first person to enter the premises. When I walked in, I noticed everything was out of place. It looked like a tornado had come through the place. I then saw the man on the floor and there was blood everywhere. I did not touch anything as I was just looking around. I tried not to step on anything. I know all the rules, we have been trained on not only how star-fleet handles security and police work but also how the civilian police work. Commander Cattaneo makes sure and trains us in both places. If there is anything you need from us, we are here. I will stay out of the way for now but will be here if needed.” Tim then stepped out of the way to let the EMTs and local police do what was required.

Star-fleet Security Officer

The EMTs hurried past. They were trained too, and they were very careful of not disturb things. They knelt on the floor, pulling out tricorders and flipping open Medical kits. It didn’t look promising, but the attached the cardiac and neural stimulators and did their best to save him.

SH Paramedics

Unfortunately, it had been too long, and there was no heart function and zero brain activity. There was also cellular death present. The scans in this setting would also note facial fractures, a spiral fracture to his left arm, and contusions to his right hand, his hand and face having been bad enough to bleed, but nothing that would have killed him.

~Ambassador Mathis

Pangolin nodded at the Ensign’s words “I have little concerns regarding contamination from you Ensign” He very pointedly did not look at the ambassador “CSU is still a few minutes out” He looked inside and with eyesight considerably sharper than humans he could see the pronunciation of death, he’d seen that scanner information enough times to recognize it “I won’t be entering until the medical team clears out and CSU arrives, can you tell me what precipitated the wellness check?” He asked not mentioning that the man in question was already dead. He’d get a report from the team soon but he wanted to have some answers before having Starfleet Security whisk the ambassador away to safety. This was going to be a big headache, there was likely to be a task-force formed with the fleeters to investigate this because of the victim’s job You better get back soon old man He thought to himself.
