One of the things that Sharah and Ano had put together was a series of clinics that didn’t require people to go to the ER. They covered everything from minor complaints to routine physicals. The clinics near the refugee intake covered a lot more, and did a lot of triage. Everyone rotated through these clinics. Civilian and Star Fleet medical staff alike. Sharah didn’t ask for volunteers - it was required. Their job was to help the population of Oed V and support the infrastructure. Sacred Heart couldn’t handle the medical needs of the colony on just the civilian staff.Today Sharah was working one of the clinics on the outer edges of the colony. A lot of people didn’t want to talk about how they got sick or injured or give personal information. It made keeping records difficult, but Sharah would rather them get help than force the issue. She was there working with Jal’na that day. The formidable Lady Duroc (which no one on staff dared to call her to her face while working) was working with people teaching them some basic exercises they could do alone because they may not return.
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan was working at the forge that day. Making new inventory for his shop. He liked working the forge. It was… relaxing in a way for him. Nothing but hot metal and hammers, and his finished knives. Shivan was proud of his work.
Today though, he treated his work too casually. He was burned, bad. After a rather heated call with Jezem and a lost argument, he was on his way to a doctor. He’d heard about the clinics. He went to the edge of the colony, he felt a little safer going there than the main hospital.
A third degree burn went from his wrist up to his elbow, wide enough to cover one side of his muscled arm, the blue flesh charred and blistering, some blood in the middle of the burn. It was wrapped in a bandage, but it clearly wasn’t enough to treat it. He’d changed into a fresh shirt, using the long sleeve to hide the injury. He hid pain well, he wouldn’t be caught dead looking hurt and weak if he could help it. He checked in with the clinic front desk and then took a seat to wait.
~ Thyr
A nurse called him back a short time later, asking him to roll up his sleeve and remove the bandage. It was bad but it wasn’t like she hadn’t seen bad before. “I’m going to spray some Dermaline gel on it and then go get the doctor.”
He did, carefully and slowly. The bandage has already started to stick to the burned skin.
A short, raven haired, Betazoid woman came up before the nurse was even done. She looked at the arm and then took out her tricorder, her brows going up. She looked into the face of the Andorian. “This will be quite uncomfortable and will take awhile. Do you want a numbing agent?”
Fayth, SFCMO
No. he wasn’t so wimpy he needed that garbage. Then he’d have to wait for it to wear off and ugh. But then, wouldn’t Jezem call him an idiot? For making things harder than they need to be or something? It really hurt. It was taking a lot of effort to pretend it didn’t. “Fine, yes.” The fact she was betazoid didn’t register at first. Then it did, and he shrugged it off. He was focused on his burn. Checked in under Thyr. He was fine.
~ Thyr
The doctor moved away and then returned. “This will take awhile,” she pressed a device to his arm, just above the elbow and his arm went numb, “and will require at least two further visits. Unfortunately, Andorian physiology means that our dermal regenerators can only accelerate the process so much. There is a lot of muscle damage here and we must ensure your cardiovascular system heals correctly or you could end up with muscle death.” While she talked she removed the stuck on linen and then began to clean the burn. “You have melted metal in the wound.”
Fayth, SFCMO
He relaxed as his arm went numb and the pain stopped. “Two more visits?” Shivan started to shake his head. “I’ll be fine. I wasn’t going to come in at all, but… somebody made me.” He took a steadying breath. He couldn’t look like a weirdo. “Yeah, I’m a knife maker and metal worker. This is a forging accident.”
~ Thyr
The woman nodded her black gaze seeming to see more than it should. She looked back to her work. “I can make a house call, but if you don’t get the full treatment you could lose use of the muscles. At best you will lose stamina and the ability to fine detailed work. At worst muscle death and lose the arm.”
Fayth, SFCMO
If he did have a run in with those he’d rather not see again, he was going to need his arm. He held up his good hand. “Alright, alright, I get it. No monkey business or I won’t like the outcome.” He gave her a good look and frowned. “Ignore me if I’m mistaken, but did you perhaps meet a very… eccentric Orion not long ago? Goes by Jezem?”
~ Thyr
It was taking awhile to clean the wound. It was dirty and risked infection. She asked the nurse for a round of antibiotics. “It’s very dirty, this will stop you from getting an infection and ending up in the hospital.” She pressed the hypo to his arm and hit the release. Then went back to cleaning.
“Sure.” said Shivan easily. It was taking a while and he was trying not to get too antsy. There were too many people here. But he didn’t seem bothered by the actual process. It was numbed anyway.
She glanced up at him, her expression very soft. She was concerned! “I did. Is he alright? Feeling better?” She had no qualms about asking, Jezem was not her patient and she had not given him even a little medical advice.
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan raised a brow. Caring people were so weird. “He’s… uh, he’ll be fine.” He coughed awkwardly. “Someday.” Then he looked at her. “He just asked me to apologize if I happened to meet you. For scaring you off the way he did.”
~ Thyr
She looked surprised. “Oh,” that seemed to surprise her. “I’m alright. Tell him not to worry about it.” It was hard to handle others’ emotions. Sometimes the best she could do was to make a hasty retreat. She couldn’t explain that to this person, Thyr the file said, or to Jezem. She had made some startling revelations recently, but that wasn’t the same as healing.
“Oh he will,” Shivan chuckled. Normally he wouldn’t, but it was weird for him care in the first place. If Shivan was a sadistic psychopath, Jezem was a right monster.
She gave him an odd questioning look, but didn’t comment.
She finished cleaning the burn and picked up the auto-suture and began to repair the muscle and cardiovascular tissues that had been damaged. She alternated with the laser scalpel to remove the dead tissue that couldn’t be saved. She applied Dermaline gel as she went. She rolled a cart over and helped him slide his arm into it. “Burn chamber. It will help heal the deeper burns. Then I will suture the rest. You will need two more sessions with the chamber tomorrow evening and the day after.”
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan obediently slid his arm into the chamber. It was still numb, thankfully. He was especially thankful as he’d been watching her laser cut things out of it. There was a wave of worry, fear, and paranoia. “Right....” he said slowly, glancing at the chamber, her, and then the rest of the area he could see from where he was. “How long is this session?”
~ Thyr
The doctor looked through the glass, judging the progress. “Half an hour. The other sessions should be about the same. Would you like something to eat or drink while you wait?” She slid a small control PaDD over and nodded at a giant screen on the wall.
Fayth, SFCMO
“Uh, no.... no thanks.” Shivan said, a little awkwardly. He briefly considered putting an Orion soap on, but decided against it and set the PaDD aside. Instead he watched the chamber work with a small sigh.
~ Thyr
There was a gentle sense of calmness that slowly came over the medical area. Most likely because people were being seen and their hurts and complaints were being handled. The doctor was never far as she saw to other patients, and checked on him frequently. At the end if the half hour she was back at his side. She turned the burn chamber off and set his arm back on the tray. She examined the healed deep muscle tissue and nodded. “It looks good. You won’t have full use of the muscles back for a couple of days.” She began using the auto-suture to close the rest of the wound. “But after the final treatment you should be fine. I can arrange for you to see the physical therapist if you like or find you have diminished capacity.” It took a few more minutes and then she set the tool down. “It is very important that you drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and synthohol until it is healed. They will dehydrate you and make the tissue dry out and cause more damage.” She picked up another instrument. “I’ll remove the nerve block now. Don’t over do, and set your healing back.” She set the device to his arm and the feeling began to return.
Fayth, SFCMO
“I’ll be fine. I don’t think I need a physical therapist.” Feeling returned slowly, going from tingling, to pins and needles, to the familiar hurt of the burn. But it wasn’t as bad as before. He squeezed and released his fist a few times. “Uh, thanks.” He looked up at her. She was very soft spoken and… nice? It was weird to Shivan. Very weird. “If you… um, see Jezem again, he might want to apologize to you himself, too.”
~ Thyr
The doctor smiled in a self-deprecating way. “No need. Really. I spoke out of turn. I didn’t mean to offend him. I’m glad he’s doing alright. Now,” she picked up a modified looking hypo, “This is Dermaline gel. Use it as often as needed. It will help with the discomfort as well as the tightness of the skin. You can arrange with the nurse to come back in for the other two treatments. Or, as I said, I am willing to make a house call if that is easier for you.”
Fayth, SFCMO
“I don’t want to make you go out of your way. You seem busy.” Shivan said, knowing full well he was not going to come back in. He took the modified hypo of dermaline gel when she handed it to him. “Um, thanks again.”
~ Thyr
Sharah had seen enough people come through these clinics to know when someone didn’t intend to return. She didn’t move out of his way, instead the soft spoken look was gone replaced by something he may not recognize - stubborn genuine compassion. “Mr. Th’arialat,” he would be surprised that she spoke perfect Andorii. “You insult me with the implication that I offer my services begrudgingly. I cannot force you to return or force my way into your home. However I am not exaggerating when I say the damage will be severe. You will be bouf and your arm will move about like a klahz. That is your choice.” This diminutive, kind, seemingly shy woman had a spine of steel. He would lose his livelihood if he didn’t complete his treatments.
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan was quite surprised this doctor spoke perfect Andorii. She gave him a strange look - stubborn, but almost like she cared or something.
He responded likewise, in his native language. “I meant no offense.” He rested his arm against himself. He enjoyed what he did, but he had not chosen it. He struggled with himself and the idea he should get away from here and give himself up. He wasn’t that attached to much, which lessened the impact of her words slightly.
To be bouf was not something an Andorian wanted and to be alikened in any way to a klahz was quite insulting. “I live above my shop.” He said the name of the place and its location. It wasn’t that far from the main hospital. “Whenever works for you is fine by me.”
~ Thyr
She nodded once, firmly and stepped back. “Then I take no offense,” she responded in kind. “I will be there after you close.”
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan nodded, checked out, and left. The next evening, after the business operating hours, he remained in the lower floor of his building to wait for her.
~ Thyr
She was prompt. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hospital and it was exactly 10 minutes after he closed that she knocked on the door. She was carrying a non descriptive messenger bag, and not wearing a Star Fleet uniform. Instead she was wearing jeans, light weight sneakers and a long sleeved flannel shirt.
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan opened the door for her, unlocking it and then locking it behind her. The shop was clean and orderly and well stocked. It seemed he had defied her medical advice slightly, he was not taking it easy, though he had quickly found he could not finish his task from yesterday. There wasn’t enough strength in his arm, and it was his right arm, his dominant.
He beckoned her further into the shop. “I’m not sure what you need, we can head upstairs to my apartment if it’s easier.”
~ Thyr
Sharah peeked around the shop with curiosity. Charles would probably enjoy some of these. He had all kinds of weapons at home. She wondered if Eilah would like something like this. She would have to come back another time and look. “Wherever you will be most comfortable. You’ll be in the burn chamber for half an hour. How is your arm feeling?”
Fayth, SFCMO
“Look all you want.” Shivan said when he caught her peeking around curiously. Everything there was hand made and high quality. Some were specialty pieces.
Sharah knew nothing about weapons, but she had a friend that did. Maybe they would come with her and help her choose.
He led her upstairs and to the dining room. “It’ll probably be easiest here.” He said. The apartment was decently neat, well decorated, but the signs of someone who had trouble keeping organized were there.
~ Thyr
The mess didn’t phase her. Sharah had had a room mate in Academy that had been lime that. It drove Borell crazy that she was so neat. She set the bag down on the table and pulled out a portable burn chamber. Luckily it was just big enough for his arm. She took out her tricorder and did a scan of his arm.
The scan showed he’d set himself back some, it was dirty, but the antibiotics were doing their job. Otherwise it was the same as the day before after his first treatment.
Coming up the outside stairs to the second floor apartment entrance was Jezem. The Orion wore his usual orion-style clothes but without most of the intricate gold jewelry he favored, his hair tied back into a simple knot. He carried a large box full of homemade meals pre-portioned into containers. Jezem flicked the outside lock with his access key and speaking the moment the door began to slid open, “Thyr, you are the biggest klutz to have ever been born in this universe. Of all the stupid injuries to have when you need to work for a living-” He cut himself off after realizing that Thyr wasn’t alone. “Aah,” He said, expression and body language blank as he took in the scene before him.
Jezem
Sharah didn’t look up. She had known someone was coming, she’d felt him. She swallowed a grin at the good natured beratement. She took out antiseptic and began to clean the arm again, where his work he wasn’t to be doing had gotten it dirty again. The antibiotics was still in his system and working.
Fayth, SFCMO
Meanwhile, Shivan jumped as the door slid open unexpectedly. Then relaxed when he saw who it was. He pointed a finger at Jezem with his left hand, “It isn’t like it was on purpose! Besides, I’ll be fine.” He waved his left hand like he didn’t have a care in the world. Then the doctor began to clean his right arm again and he jumped and let out a yelp. “Ouch! Hey, be careful!” He complained.
~ Thyr
“It’s painful?” Fayth’s brows went up slightly, and she reached into her bag and pulled out another device and sit it to his arm. “I’ll give you another nerve block.” She took in a breath and gently let it out and with it a sense of calm. “Hello Jezem,” she said as she continued working.
”. . .Hello,” Jezem answered. This. He really wasn’t expecting this. When he bullied Thyr into getting proper medical care for his arm he didn’t think that would include house calls.
Shivan had not wanted to go in, he’d still rather not do this. This doctor had talked him into this… in Andorii. Truly impressive to Shivan. He nodded to Sharah that it was painful and then relaxed once again once the nerve block was applied.
This wasn’t like before. Though surprised to find the betazoid doctor here, Jezem kept his thoughts and feelings under wraps. Jezem scowled at Thyr, “You weren’t being careful enough!” He set the box of food down by the fridge and began to pile them into the fridge or freezer depending upon the item, “Also, I’m not hearing any thanks or gratitude for bringing you food. I shouldn’t be giving you anything if this is the thanks I get.”
Jezem
“You didn’t give me a chance to! I’m kind of in the middle of something here!” Shivan snapped back. “I am thankful for the food and you know it! Your cooking is to die for.” Then he grinned, “we both know you just can’t stand the idea of me going someplace for replicated food every day.”
~ Thyr
Sharah was an expert of keeping her fave passive and not giving things away. They sounded Charles and Yavia arguing over who got to cook dinner that night.
Fayth, SFCMO
Jezem whirled around, pointing an accusing finger at Thyr, “How do you not retch at the thought of replicated food? It’s disgusting. I don’t know how you can stand it at all, let alone eat it for days on end.”
Jezem
Shivan shrugged. “It’s better than garbage or scraps.” He said. “It feeds me. It just isn’t as enjoyable to eat as homecooked Orion food.”
~ Thyr
She wasn’t there to socialize, but she knew how Thyr felt. You made due, but real food was always better. You couldn’t be picky. She finally finished cleaning the wound again and reached over to turn the burn chamber on. She applied more Dermaline gel and then helped him place his arm into the chamber. “Do you need more gel?”
Fayth, SFCMO
Shivan shook his head. “I, uh… I didn’t use that much of it.”
“Use more of it.”
Jezem shook his head but finished stocking Thyr’s fridge with enough food to feed him for two weeks. Perhaps a bit overboard but it was easy to make more than less. He eyed the burn chamber before stepping over to poke Thyr in the shoulder, “Do everything the doctor tells you to do. I don’t care how unfair it sounds do it. I don’t care how boring. You follow her directions to the letter.” Jezem leveled Thyr with that look before turning to face Sharah. Though his thoughts were guarded his body language spoke of his hesitance, “Um, thank you for the other day. You didn’t- I was tired and frustrated.” Jezem bit his tongue there. “Don’t let him him off easy.” Jezem turned and beat a hasty retreat out the door before he over thought everything.
Jezem
Her brow went up and she smiled slightly. Any response died before spoken as Jezem hurried out the door.
Shivan huffed and shrugged. “Yeah, whatever.” But he knew that look. Jezem’s Captain look. Shivan couldn’t defy him. He chuckled as Jezem hurried off. “He means, give me your meanest, strictest directions because otherwise I won’t listen.”
~ Thyr
“I thought I already did,” the doctor smirked. She looked towards the door and back to Thyr. These two weren’t used to kindness of any kind. They were both obviously uncomfortable with it.
Fayth, SFCMO
“Use more,” Shivan said, mocking her, but good naturedly. There was no intent to hurt or offend behind it. In fact, he was smiling slightly.
~ Thyr
She chuckled slightly. “Well I could wrap it up in a dermaplast bandage and secure that to your torso so your arm won’t move at all.”
Fayth
“I think I’d be downstairs, chipping away at that in minutes.” Shivan said. “I don’t like to have my movement restricted like that.”
~ Thyr
Sharah laughed. “I don’t either and only use such solutions in extreme situations. You aren’t an extreme situation are you?”
Fayth
Shivan smiled a little. “Only when I want to be.” He looked at her and shrugged, “I guess you haven’t given me a reason to be one.”
~ Thyr
The doctor laughed. It was an easy light sound. “Well I wouldn’t be doing my job very well if I gave you a reason to be one, would I?”
Fayth
“You haven’t met the kind of doctors I have.” Shivan replied with certainty. Or been in the situations he had. “Just tomorrow then, after this, right?”
~ Thyr
Sharah knew what he was talking about. She hadn’t been treated by doctors like that, but she had met them. “You won’t find doctors like that here in Oed and if you do, report them. Dr. Helaky and I won’t tolerate it.” She checked the progress on his arm then nodded. “Should be. It’s healing well. So as long as you don’t do anything to damage the area between now and then, tomorrow should do it.”
Fayth
“Oh, I already know of a couple.” Shivan muttered. He wasn’t going to report them, for multiple reasons. He nodded. “Good. Not that I don’t like your company. But I really need use of my arm.” He assumed tonight wouldn’t be the night he was jumped by those after him. That would be a heck of a coincidence.
~ Thyr
“No one wants a doctor’s company.” She did as well, and ferreting them out was a monumental task. Some did a great job, others were charlatans. “You should have it after tomorrow. You may find the arm a bit weak for the first day, but regular use will see that improved.”
Fayth
Shivan’s life had once been saved by one of the better ones. “Okay.” He said. “I have things to do, regular use won’t be a problem.” More than his livelihood rode on this stupid shop.
~ Thyr
While the waited the last few minutes she pulled out some old fashioned bandaging. “Use this to keep dirt from getting in it, alright? I would hate to see you admitted to the hospital for a preventable infection.” When the time was up, she removed his arm from the chamber, ran a scan and then removed the nerve block. “Can I do anything else for you?” she asked as she repacked everything in a quick efficient manner.
Fayth
“Okay, I guess.” Shivan took the bandaging. It was still odd to him she gave a flip whether he wrapped it or not or got an infection or not. As feeling returned, he squeezed his fist a few times. “No, I’m alright.” He said, and then thought a moment, “Do you want to take one of those meals with you? Jezem’s an excellent cook and I’d feel bad not paying you back in some way.”
~ Thyr
Sharah wasn’t allowed to take compensation for her work. She felt that it would make him uncomfortable if she refused. “Are you sure? Jezem doesn’t seem to be the type that would appreciate you giving away all his effort.”
Fayth
Shivan chuckled and shrugged. “I’ll have replicated food one day and he won’t even know the difference. Besides, if he does, we’ll just sock it out like we always do.”
~ Thyr
She looked at him and shook her head. “Don’t tell me, or I’ll have to start coming out here randomly to make sure you are still healthy.” She shouldered her bag. “Alright, tomorrow, same time.”
Fayth
“Hey, don’t go saying that.” Shivan grinned. “Jezem had to bully me into going in at all, I wasn’t going to.” He nodded. “Tomorrow, same time. Works for me.”
~ Thyr
“He’s a good friend then. With the level of damage and metal in the wound, you could have lost the arm.” She stopped at the door, “Behave, keep it clean, and. Use. The. Gel. It will heal it faster.” She grinned. “Have a good night.” Fayth slipped out the door.
Fayth
Shivan huffed and waved a hand as if blowing it off, but then smiled and waved as she left.
The next night he was waiting by the door for her and unlocked it as soon as he saw her, waving her inside. “Doctor.” He greeted her.
~ Thyr
“Hello Thyr. How is your arm?” Again she arrived right on time, wearing civilian clothes, and carrying a nondescript messenger bag.
Fayth
“Getting better.” He let her see it. He’d obviously been using the gel this time and judging by its cleanliness he must have kept it wrapped. He led her upstairs, locking the door behind her as she entered.
~ Thyr
She looked at it briefly and nodded. “It looks good.” She followed him up the stairs and took out the various equipment. “Do you want another nerve block today?”
Fayth
“It doesn’t hurt so much today, I’m sure I’ll live without one.” Shivan decided, sitting in the same place as the day before.
~ Thyr
Fayth nodded and flipped open her tricorder and ran the hand held scanner over it. “Well look at that, no dirt or new damage.” She grinned cheekily. “And no infection.” She sprayed a layer of Dermaline gel on his arm and then set up the chamber. “It will feel like pins and needles at first, maybe some stinging, but it will ease off and then feel cool as it heals. If it gets bad tell me.” She waited while he set his arm inside and then started the chamber.
Fayth
Shivan grinned and shrugged. He set his arm inside the chamber and then rested his other elbow on the table while it worked. “When did you learn Andorii?”
~ Thyr
“My first Chief Medical Officer out of the Academy was Andorian. He was in special forces with the Imperial Guard before he transfered to medicine and joined Star Fleet. He was…” she laughed, “appeared abrasive sometimes. He taught me.”
Fayth
“We often do, to outsiders.” Shivan sighed softly. “I had… have anger issues, even by Andorian standards.” He shrugged, unsure how to continue the thought without bringing up things he did not want to talk about. “I haven’t heard that language since I left Andoria.
~ Thyr
Sharah felt the truth of his words, but he didn’t seem like the violent type to her. Dangerous, but not violent. She shrugged to herself. “He taught me because he said it was a difficult language to master. He wanted to improve my concentration. We spoke exclusively Andorii.”
Fayth
“It is.” Shivan shrugged, “I grew up with it, so to me, it’s natural. But English by comparison is pretty simple. I’ve never looked at other Earth languages. There’s no point in it.”
~ Thyr
“It’s a very lyrical language. It took me awhile to get the notes and pitch right, but it was a joy to learn.” She nodded, “Earth has many languages, but I’ve never learned any of them either. I know a few words of Aaenarii also, but not enough to have a conversation.”
Fayth
“Eh, hardly anyone uses Aenarii,” Shivan said dismissively. “The Aenar keep to themselves, and there aren’t that many of them.”
~ Thyr
The doctor nodded. “I studied with them for almost a year when I was a child. Andor is deceptively beautiful. I didn’t see much, but the caves fascinated me.”
Fayth
Shivan thought for a second, remembering. “I guess it is. I always thought of it as a boring ice rock. The caves are interesting, though.”
~ Thyr
“It’s so different than Betazed. The exact opposite. I guess that’s why I liked it.” She shrugged. “It does seem barren, and it was so cold. I thought I would never get warm again. But I got used to it.”
Fayth
“A planet like Betazed feels warm to me,” Shivan said with a shrug. “Vulcan was terrible.” He’d been once, for a job. He flexed his arm slightly, the sensations the burn chamber caused a bit odd to him.
~ Thyr
She noticed the flexing, “Alright?”
Shivan glanced at her as though it were bizarre she were asking. “It doesn’t hurt. It’s just weird.”
“It will stop in a couple of minutes,” she told him.
“Betazed is very warm, humid, and stormy.” She grimaced, “I shouldn’t say so, but I hate Vulcan.”
Fayth
Shivan grinned and chuckled a little. “Why’s that? The heat, thin air, or absolutely stifling atmosphere by all those logical monks?”
~ Thyr
The mention of the monks made her visibly wince. She was a Star Fleet officer, senior staff, and helping head up Sacred Heart. Her personal opinions needed to stay her own. “It is very oppressive and stifling there.” She could have been talking about the weather or the people.
Fayth
A life as a criminal was a great way to teach one to read people. He caught her wince and looked up at her. “Come on,” he pressed, “Why don’t you like the Vulcan monks? I’m not gonna go telling the city.”
~ Thyr
It was personal, but Sharah didn’t really believe in secrets either. She sighed. “The year I turned 8, my parents took me to Vulcan to study with the monks. I found them to be chaotic and their methods torturous. They didn’t like me and the feeling was mutual.”
Fayth
Shivan snorted. “They don’t like me, either.” And not just because of the reason he’d been there. “They’re just uptight and boring anyway.” He said with a shrug.
~ Thyr
“The monks are, anyway.” She had met a few Vulcans who weren’t. “I can’t imagine going through life refusing to feel anything. It seems very dull.”
Fayth
“It does. And that’s coming from someone whose emotions have gotten him in a lot of trouble.” Shivan shook his head. “I still can’t imagine living that way.”
~ Thyr
“I know all about that,” she laughed ruefully. “Emotion gives color and flavor to life. I wouldn’t want to exist without it.”
Fayth
Shivan nodded. “It would be boring that way, and I don’t like boring.” This planet was boring. But Shivan was stuck here, so he was trying to find ways to make less boring that were… acceptable. He didn’t know how Jezem did it.
~ Thyr
