Shivan waited in his shop. He didn’t always meet Séan in his own shop but that was where he’d decided on this week. He sat in the workshop, looking over the weapons sold to him in the last day. There were two, a pocket knife and a dagger. The door was locked. The light was off. Whatever Shivan was inspecting the weapons for, it wasn’t their quality or construction. One needed more light for that.~ Thyr
Séan arrived at the shop as planned. He knocked on the locked door and waited for a response. He was curious about the weapons Shivan seemed to be examining and was looking forward to continuing their conversation from last time.
Counselor Iven
Shivan finished what he was doing and went to the door, unlocking and opening it. He let Séan in, then closed and locked it again. He led Séan up the stairs. He stopped at the front door to his apartment, jiggled the doorknob, then unlocked and opened the door. Then he waved Séan in, closed and locked the door, moving the doorknob up slightly. “Make yourself comfortable in the living room,” he said. He headed further into the house, checking each room before having a seat on the sofa in the living room.

Séan followed Thyr into the apartment, noting the careful locks and security measures in place. He took a quick glance around the living room as he entered, appreciating the decor and the sense of privacy the space provided. After Thyr’s invitation, he settled into a comfortable seat on the sofa, positioning himself where they could have a clear line of sight and conversation.
“Thank you for having me over,” Séan said with a warm smile, his posture relaxed yet attentive. “I think we’ve covered a lot of ground in our previous conversations, and I’m here to continue that if you’re ready. As always, the focus is on you and your feelings, thoughts, and whatever you want to discuss.” He paused, giving Thyr a moment to gather his thoughts. “Is there anything specific you’d like to start with today?
Counselor Iven
“Yeah,” Thyr said, “Jezem and I got mixed up with this Caitian who stole illegal weapons from a Klingon gang that want to operate here. Jezem had me house the Caitian and we were attacked in the middle of the night. She was so dumb, they tracked her down like nothing.” He was venting more than anything, but the event had worried him. He took a seat on the sofa.
~ Thyr
“That seems… risky.” Séan said after a moment of concern. “Shouldn’t Jezem want you to be as far away from illicit activities as possible? If a Klingon gang knows where you live then you’re at quite a bit of risk.”
Counselor Iven
“Generally he does want me as far from anything illegal as possible. But he has a point - the less major criminal enterprises here, the better. So if we take out this gang, that’s better for me. But until then…” He eyed the windows.
~ Thyr
“Staying cautious and vigilant is a wise approach,” Séan replied. “Dealing with criminal elements always comes with risks, and it’s important to prioritize your safety. If you believe that there’s a potential threat, taking precautions like securing your location and being aware of your surroundings is essential. However, I would strongly advise against taking matters into your own hands without proper planning and support.”
Counselor Iven
To that, Shivan grinned. “Please, this is exactly the sort of thing we used to do. We’ll be fine. What I’m worried about is getting shanked in my sleep.”
~ Thyr
Séan chuckled, appreciating Thyr’s straightforward attitude. “Well, I can’t say I have much experience in the realm of covert operations, but if you believe your skills are up to the task, just make sure to prioritize your safety. As for your concern about being shanked, it might be a good idea to take extra precautions to secure your location during this time. Locking doors, setting up alarms, and perhaps even having a communication device handy can provide some peace of mind. And, of course, if things start to escalate or if you feel threatened, don’t hesitate to contact me. If you need to go through Jezem to contact me that’d be fine..”
Counselor Iven
“Of course I have additional security in place.” Shivan said. “Are you sure you want me to call you? How deeply do you want to be pulled into this?”
~ Thyr
Séan gave the question careful consideration. “Well the way I see it you are my patient and your safety is my concern. My superior has already met you and knows that there is some shady things going on with you but has had the decency to not dig further. If your shop was under assault then I could utilize some Starfleet resources to help out while not crossing any lines or garner suspicion. If the worst happens I can have you transported to the Starfleet complex.”
Counselor Iven
“Just remember every single person who helps me could and very well might wind up dead. Even if they don’t know who I am.” Shivan didn’t think Séan understood the risks here. He took them way too lightly. “Warp me into the complex? Have you lost your mind?!”
~ Thyr
“Would transporting you to the Centurion be better? I imagine they would be less inclined to attack a Starfleet starship.” Séan said with a smirk. His demeanor became more solemn as he acknowledged to Thyr the risks. “I’d prefer not involving anyone into the potential dangers swirling around you but if an unknown criminal organization is gunning for you then I’m willing to bring out some bigger guns. Jezem should not have dragged you back into this when you’re supposed to be laying low and not incriminating yourself. Put the blame at his feet if you must.”
Counselor Iven
“I may faint on the spot if you do that,” Shivan sighed exasperatedly. The idea that he put the blame on Jezem seemed to press a button though as Shivan shook his head vigorously. “No. Never. I would never turn on Jezem like that.”
~ Thyr
Séan paused at Thyr’s reaction as that was a bit more extreme than he was expecting. “I’m not saying turn on Jezem or anything like that. What I mean is that he’s not perfect and some decisions he makes for you can be the wrong ones. In my opinion having you shelter someone who had people actively looking for her was the wrong choice. I don’t know Jezem’s network and connections but I suspect he has more than one safe house on Oed that could have sufficed better than sending them here.”
Counselor Iven
“She needed protection, not just a safe house. We knew they were tracking her. Or more accurately a thing… but either way I have that. That cat would’ve lost it in an instant. Or gotten herself killed.” Shivan shrugged. “I trust Jezem. Wrong choice or no he won’t leave me hanging. He never has. Never will.”
~ Thyr
“And I’m not trying to undermine that trust. You and Jezem have a lot of history together and your trust was built on that. I just hope that you think through some of the decisions made for you.” Séan said in a placating manner. He wasn’t trying to get Thyr riled up but to not blindly follow orders. “I’m not sure the logistics of bodyguarding someone, but would it have better to guard her at a safe house instead of bringing whatever it was to your home?”
Counselor Iven
“They aren’t tracking her but an object she possessed.” Shivan pulled a small pocket knife out of his pocket. “This. I don’t trust her not to lose it. Either way they would have been lured to my place. Might as well have her where I can protect her.”
~ Thyr
Séan scrutinized the knife in Thyr’s hand. “Couldn’t you isolate the signal from? Faraday cage or something? Would seem an easy way to make it ‘disappear’.”
Counselor Iven
“Jezem is working on it.” Thyr replied, pocketing the small weapon again. “I’m keeping it because I know I won’t lose it. They’d have to kill me first.”
