Cort had set up the meeting with the Chief Justice’s personal aide at Eela’s request. She had thought about how best to broach this personal issue and while she could seek legal advice elsewhere, her position demanded a level of discretion that some days felt precarious (especially after the whole incident with the bug). As open as Eela could be, there were some things she wanted to keep to herself or at least not make public until she was good and ready. In this case, she was working mentally through options and hit that wall where she needed additional input.Though her presence was irregular on Astrid’s floor, at least her meeting with a cabinet member wouldn’t so all that strange for anyone who saw her get off at the Chief Justice’s level. This meeting, however, was personal.
She adjusted the black beaded navy blazer she wore over black trousers and approached the aide’s desk. “Hello, I’m here to see Chief Justice Rousseau. I should have an appointment.”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Luce was an excellent personal aid. She was waiting for the Governor, PaDD in hand and smiling warmly. Her gold hair was tied back in a pretty and sleek ponytail. She was short but had an aura of strength and efficiency. “Of course Lt. Governor Dasca. She is waiting for you. She usually has hot tea and scones in about 15 minutes. Is there anything I can get you as well?”
“Umm, no I’m fine, thank you,” Dasca said with a shake of her head and a small smile.
She waited patiently for the answer, nodded and turned, fully expecting that Eela would follow her, as so many had before. The doors to Atrids airy office were only a few steps away from the Aides desk but in such a position, that someone would have to get past the aide to get near the doors. Luce opened the doors and stepped to the side.
“Thank you,” Eela said as she stepped through and into the office.
The office was large and comfortably appointed. There was a dining area, a sitting area and of course, her workstation. Filtered windows on two walls gave the area its illumination. The view was impressive.
The woman herself was curvy, wearing a skirted suit of deep magenta. It’s peplum waist cascading over the top half of the fitted pencil skirt. Her blouse was navy, with small magenta birds scattered delicately. Her hair was dark, deep chocolate brown. It was up in a soft chignon at the nape of her neck. Her pumps were navy with a magenta ribbon edging the part around her foot and a small bow at her toe.
“Good afternoon Lt. Governor Dasca. Please do come in. It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person.” Her accent was lilted soft and distinctly French.

Eela took in the impeccably dressed woman, smiled, and bowed her head to Astrid. “Yes, I’m glad we can speak outside of cabinet meetings. Everything’s been so rushed and perfunctory lately, that I don’t get the chance to get to know people the way I would like. But I appreciate you squeezing me into your busy schedule.” Her expression shifted, uncertainty creeping into her features. “I… hope this is okay that we speak like this. I have a personal matter I need advice with and, well, with my position, seeking advice such as this opens me up to public criticism, so I’m trying to keep this quiet for now.”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Astrid nodded and took a few steps to the sitting area a and indicated a seat beside her on one of the overstuffed velveteen couches. “Of course. In fact, it is preferred by Star Fleet and OEDV that I do so provided there is no conflict of interest, or at least. That I disclose conflict of interest if it happens. Come have a seat and tell me of your trouble?”
Luce had already closed the doors behind her, leaving to prepare Astrids afternoon refreshments. There were professional accomplishments framed and tastefully displayed on the walls as well as pictures of her family, specifically two siblings the chief justice obviously loved.

Eela took in the rest of the office with a keen eye as she settled onto the sofa facing Astrid. She took a deep breath to steady herself before she delved in, knowing that this would be hard. “So, I am assuming you have heard about and maybe even read my response to the social media post about my ex-husband being escorted by my security through one of the hotels? If not, I can fill you in.”
