Ragna pulled out the necessary credits, 3200, and handed it over. “Thank you, Master Th’arialat.” She bowed slightly before picking up the doomblade and sliding it through her belt. “I am sure I will see you again.”

Ragna

Shivan put the sale through the system and put away the credits. He glanced up at Ragna. “No need for the bowing and the… title.” He smiled. “I hope to see you again.”

It was roughly two weeks later when Ragna returned to the shop. She had contemplated whether she should or not, but she needed to get out more and she liked Th’arialat’s affinity for weapons. She carried a reinforced and large locked case with her. She had seen many people walking around with fire arms and small bladed weapons, but none with anything that might be remotely considered a sword. She didn’t know if it was a law or if people found it unwieldy. She didn’t want to break any laws though, so she’d carefully packed these in the case and carted it with her all the way to the blacksmith’s shop.

Ragna

When Ragna entered the shop, in the doomblade’s place she’d see a traditional Andorian blade, made of an Andorian metal and slightly curved. The handle had a blue grip. The craftsmanship was expertly done. Thyr sat in the shop’s small office, scowling over a stack of papers. Even with Jezem’s lessons, all this business garbage was boring and difficult. When he heard the door, he stood and went to the counter. “Ah, you again. Have something else for me to repair?”

Ragna paused to admire the piece. He really was quite good. Toryl would learn a lot here she thought. She shook her head approaching the counter. “Not today. I had promised to bring these by to show you,” she lifted the case slightly, “but you look busy.” Her eyes flicked to the small office he had appeared from and the slightly, or so she thought, perturbed look on his face that had quickly disappeared as he came out.

Ragna

“Eh, just shop business. I’ll deal with it later,” Thyr replied with a dismissive wave of the hand, voice carrying some remaining tension. “What have you brought?” He asked, eyeing the case curiously.

Ragna lifted the case onto the counter. The lock was two part, a bio scanner and then a combination key lock. The case clicked as the latches disengaged and she flipped the case open. Inside were two swords of incredible detail.

The first was the perfection of a B@#&^$! Sword. It was exactly 48 inches in total length, the handle on hers measured 13 inches, a perfect two handed length for her, but would allow a modified hand and half for a larger wielder. A typical sword would range between 5 and 8 pounds, but hers was significantly lighter, this was a blade she could wield for hours and not tire, but the steel was hard and solid. She lifted it, pulling it from the sheath and laying it on the velvet lined lid of the case, where he could see it. “My uncle made this one. He made one for each of us. Me and my two older sisters.” The pommel was black steel and forged, not poured, into a family crest, and small rune was at the bottom right corner. The cross piece had two different etching in ancient runes on either side. The handle was wrapped in soft grey sheepskin and wrapped in a rich forest brown tanned suede leather cording. The blade was razor sharp, and obviously put through it’s daily paces, but well cared for.

The second sword was at first glance a standard broadsword. But that was where ‘standard’ ended. The scabbard was some kind of black, scaled leather. The pommel was a solid brass circle around a piece of dark stone. The stone was etched with a rune. Drawing it from the scabbard, Ragna revealed a blade of Damascus steel with more ancient runes etched into the base of the blade. The grip was the same leather as the scabbard. The guard was etched on one side with a sea scene. On the other: three Valkyries- wings spread, swords raised, and shields bared flying above three warriors. And it was light, maybe four or five pounds total. “My husband had this commissioned for me after we married. It was made by Hrjold Grunsfeld.” Thyr would be familiar with the name. Grunsfeld was a legend the quadrants over, the competition for apprenticeships with him was fierce and difficult. “They are the swords of the Shield Maidens of Clan McKenzie-Edman.”

Ragna

Shivan had no idea what the clan was but he knew the name. “He does good work. I know of him.” He was examining the two weapons she’d brought in. They were both beautiful and he was impressed though it didn’t show on his face. It was an old habit - one couldn’t show how impressed they were with something when haggling prices. “They are beautifully made. Thanks for the opportunity to see them.”
