Kupi grabbed for Josh in a bear hug that, despite how mad he was, Josh couldn’t get out of. Ghampeq set a hand on Jessie’s shoulder. One to steady him and two to steady him. “He’s not worth it,” the Klingon confirmed and there was muttered agreement from those near-by.
Jessie seemed to deflate a little at Ghampeq’s touch, but he now had a bit of a dilemma. He wanted desperately to just run out of the building, but everyone was watching. And for the first moment since Josh had gotten in his face, he regretted throwing the first punch. But only a little. A very, very tiny bit.
“Enough.” said a sharp and wholly unmistakable voice.
At the crack of that voice, Kupi and Ghampeq stepped back from the two other boys. They knew better than to try and slip back into the crowd. They’d already been seen and it would be in their worst interest to try and slink off.
High Schoolers
Mrs. Falway had been a teacher at the high school as long as anyone could remember. A diminutive Aqellian woman, she was a personality that few dared contradict. In her time at the school she had garnered a reputation as a stern, strict, and uncompromising teacher who expected… nay… demanded… the best from each pupil. Her history and civics classes were the hardest in the school; but those that did well in them tended to do very well in academics at higher levels. She had taught future politicians, Star Fleet Officers, CEOs, and even a celebrity or two. And everyone, student and faculty alike, either respected or feared her.
Usually both.
“You two.” she commanded with a pointed finger at Jesse and Josh. “Explain.”
Mrs. Falway
“He started it,” Jessie muttered. It was petulant and childish, for sure, but it was also true. The anger swirled around again and Jessie lifted his head, the bruise around his eye seeming to get bigger by the minute. “He’s been in my face since I got here and I only just started at this school.”
“He hit me!” Josh said, furious for a whole lot of reasons.
“I got tired of his crap and when he went on insulting my mother, I hit him.” Jessie shrugged.

Mrs. Falway arched an eyebrow at Jessie, but turned and looked at Josh. “Mr. Grant. This is not the first time you and I have had a discussion about your attitude towards new students, is it?” She didn’t wait for an answer, holding a single finger and silencing the protest before it started. “I told you that someday your penchant for trying to exert power over others would get you into trouble. Today it did.” She looked at Ghampeq and said “Ghampeq of House Duroc, I charge you with escorting Mr. Grant to the Headmaster’s office and ensuring he speaks to no one on the way.” Ghampeq slammed a fist on his chest in the manner taught to him by mother when being addressed by a superior. He dropped a hand on Josh’s shoulder and steered him away.
Mrs. Falway looked at Jessie and said “I do not know you, young man. But my first impression is… wanting. Come with me. We will contact your parents from the office. Once the Headmaster is done with Mr. Grant, they will deal with you. Come.” and she simply turned and started walking with every expectation that he follow.

Josh looked back over his shoulder at the new kid who he rather loathed right now. Arrogant punk! A slew of curses flew through his head but he managed to stay quiet as they walked to the office. He did try to shrug off Ghampeq though. “Seriously, I can walk just fine on my own.”

Ghampeq’s hand didn’t move. “Mrs. Falway said I take you, then I take you.” and the hand closed tighter. “And she said no talking!” he barked. Ghampeq was younger than Josh, but he was already a known factor on several of the school’s sports teams. He steered Josh into the office and looked at Ms. Trlin, the secretary. “Mrs. Falway told me to bring him here to the Headmaster. He was fighting that new kid in the hall.”
Ghampeq
Ms. Trlin could usually be counted on to be no nonsense, but also the kind caring aunt type. Today was not Josh’s lucky day. Ms Trlin had her hands full with all the panic the arrival of the Vren was causing, and the she along with the rest of the administrative staff were buried in work up to the stratosphere. They didn’t have time for young men who needed to express their hormones in order to assert dominance. She hit her intercom, “Sir, I have Joshua Woods here. Mrs. Falway sent him because he was fighting with Jessie Mathis in the halls.”
The door to the headmaster’s office banged open and the large bearded visage of Dr. Shab Ch’zaahril, the Andorian head master, stood arms folded across his chest. “Again, Woods? Get in here and don’t say a word. Ms Trlin please call his parents to come in, now.” He looked at the young Klingon. “Thank you, Ghampeq.”
Ms Trlin tapped quickly on her screen. “I’ve sent Master Yknq a message as to why you are late, Ghampeq. You can return to class, thank you.” Then she was on the comms with Josh’s parents.
Headmaster Ch’zaahril
Josh folded his arms across his chest and stepped into the office. He averted his gaze but certainly didn’t both removing the scowl that appeared. He had a feeling his parents, or at least his father (a miner), would be on his side. He’d understand.

Ch’zaahril closed the door firmly and walked over in front of him. “Have a seat, and explain to me what happened this time.”
