Eela showed them out and repeated the instructions so they could get downstairs to where their security would get them over to the apartment.

A moment later, she stepped back into the office and moved over to Kenzo, a serene smile on her face. “Honestly, it would take a lot to wipe the smile off my face. Until they were in the same room as me, I don’t think I’ve realized how much I’ve missed them. And Alais! I don’t miss the years of sleep deprivation, but having a baby around is…” She shook her head and sighed. “I don’t care that the timing could have been better, I’m just so glad they are here.”

“I am pleased they made it safely.”Kenzonsaid as he took a seat at his desk. He tapped a few times, scowled slightly, and then said “But this may remove that smile, at least foe the time being. Admiral Kaldeck has apparently taken offense to not being invited to the gala… ignoring the fact he didn’t arrive on Oed until the day before yesterday, we did not know he was coming because he didn’t tell anyone, and he never requested an invitation. He has ordered his ahip to dock next to the Vren’s. CCDA has him holding to wait for clearance, which he will not get.” He looked up at Eela and said “To put our official hats on for a brief moment. I am requesting, Lieutenant Governor, that you- and you may please quote me on this- yank the Admiral’s leash and inform him that not only does he not direct activities on this colony or the station; but his actions could be construed as a violation of the conditions we sent to the Council. Conditions, I may add, that the vast majority of the population of the colony and the Council find both agreeable and reasonable. If the good Admiral wishes to pursue the matter, I leave the response to you, Captain.” He leaned back and exhaled. “And now I wish to go home.” and he chuckled dryly.

Hyrushi, Gov.

The indignant feeling returned from earlier when she had overheard Fen’s response. “Oh, you can be assured that it will be dealt with. He’s not the first Admiral to try and bypass me and he’ll find out exactly why that is a terrible, terrible idea.” Eela laced her fingers together and pushed her hands out, cracking her knuckles. “The Koonita is in no mood to people’s crap, that is for sure.”

“Good.” he replied as he smacked his hands on the desk and stood up. “I will leave you to it, then. I am actually going home. I doubt sleep will be a friend to either of us after the gala, so I will get what I can.” He came around the desk and stood in front of her, placing his hands on her shoulders. A feeling of deep appreciation flowed from him and through her. “I am glad your family has arrived safely. And I sincerely hope that the visit is both joyous and long.” He squeezed her shoulders once and then, wordlessly, turned and aim0ly walked out the door.

She couldn’t help but chuckle and with a grin, she slipped down the staircase to her office. There was, of course, plenty of work to be done still and she was expecting that she wouldn’t hear from Dee and Kian for two or three hours at least.
