Harris in the Service Dress uniform of the CCDA, along side Admiral Halloway of the ACS and General Hudson of the CDF, as well as his Aide… Master Sergeant Brianna Reyes, stood with warm smiles as the Government’s official party greeted the Ambassador. The CCDA Commandant was astounded at the progress and looked forward to a brighter future for all involved. Turning to Devri, Harris said softly. “I never thought I’d live to see the day.” To which Hudson replied equally softly. “Me either Raven, me either”

Erin was both nervous and excited, and as the newcomers walked into the room, she tried her best not to ogle them as if they were new scientific specimens. The truth was, she was first and foremost a scientist, and whatever training her short stint with Starfleet had given her, she had never put it to use since then. Cooper had never been in a first contact situation before.
Still, she had taken a place next to Calvin (or Alex, as she knew him better, even though the name had been fallen in disuse after hanging around her sister for a while), as Erin knew he would make sure she didn’t make a fool of herself. Wearing her favorite teal dress that she wore to functions where elegance and formality were of the utmost importance, Erin smiled softly as she watched history unfold before her.

Calvin looked down at Erin and smiled on her arrival. “Glad you could make it Director…” Then with a playful smile, Calvin winked and added softly. “… and I always loved that color on you.” It seemed as though the former Marine was about to say something else, but was cut off as the CDF General beside him gave him a quick elbow to the ribs. “Sorry…” He said with a soft groan and smirk. “… I meant… you look nice.” Erin could just make out the other two Senior officers say “Sure Raven” in chorus.

Mika stood in her place, in a dress uniform she looked rather relaxed in. They weren’t so bad, really, not worse than the regular uniforms to her. And, it was the same as a diplomatic mission on a ship, and Mika had been a Diplomatic Officer. So she was really quite excited and happy to be here. She was smiling and watching the Vren Ambassador with interest.

Standing at the back, slightly off to one side, Alston tried not to let his internal grumbling show on his face. As much as he disliked the pomp and circumstance, and this was definitely not on the list of things Reilly had gone over when accepting the contract, the last thing he needed to do was end up accidentally scowling at the delegation and starting another interspecies incident.
He tugged at the sleeves of his black blazer. It, along with the black slacks and black button down shirt, were freshly replicated. Not as comfortable as his normal everyday attire, but it sure beat having to be wearing a full dress uniform. For now he’d take the small wins.
Alston Mace - CIA Contractor
When the Ambassador spoke, there seemed to be a understandable excitement to his words. “On behalf of the the Vrens, I thank you for the welcoming. We are pleased that wes are a part of the future built on cooperations and friendship, and that the missteps of the past can be confined to history. We thank yous for allowing us to your sovereign soil, and we hope that we are able to carry honor to it.” He stepped to the side and several more Vren exited into the space. They were a variety of color and sizes, and it was apparent that Kek, while much larger than the Human standard, was on the average size of Vren… at least from the small sample pool present.
Kek, Vren Ambassador
Governor Hyrushi bowed and said “We have no doubt that this auspicious meeting will be a solid first step in mending past injuries and a firm foundation on which to build a partnership of mutual trust and cooperation. Please allow me to introduce our representatives.” and he began to introduce each attendee not only by name, but with a brief description of their role within the colonial government or Star Fleet; except for Mace, who he simply introduced by name.

Mathis was taking in everything with her keen eyes, experience and intuitive sense. Much of these initial moments were not just about setting the right tone for things to unfold later at gala and then the negotiating table, but about vetting her own impressions from those first calls with what she was experiencing now. It was all in the subtleties, the observations.
Right now it was very much one group facing another and while everyone was mostly excited, it was time to create a gesture that was less confrontational, even a little bit. She smiled warmly at Kek and allowed her gaze to encompass the whole Vren contingent before she took another step closer and turned her body on an angle. “As we have discussed, thing are in place for the gala tomorrow, but if there is anything you need, just let us know,” she said to Kek, engaging him in more relaxed conversation. The formalities of the greetings were over, now was the time to show these people that they were willing to truly welcome them here. Cautiously, of course, but with intention.

Joseph Karlson took a position in the Rear, he was in his Dress Uniform not a suit like he was usually. The stiff uniform didn’t allow him to wear his usual shoulder strap and his concealed weapon so it was not attached to a closed leather holster on his waist. Today he had a dark brown wooden cane made from Andorian Oak, a sturdy tool that could double as a weapon far better than most Earth woods. He had his spectacles on and his usual grandfatherly smile. He’d been a member of a good number of diplomatic occasions but this was his first as a Civilian Police officer.
Commissioner Karlson
Zerbo came in wearing a fancy and elegant suit with a black obsidian cane and hat. Bowing to everyone and smiling showing his rows of razor sharp teeth to everyone present and took a seat in his spot reserved for him.
Zerbo, Finance Minister
Hyrushi moved forward and said “Ambassador, we have quarters readied for you and your team if you care to enjoy our hospitality. We will also not take offense if you choose to stay on your ship. Regardless, know that you are welcome here and we look forward to the coming days.”
Hyrushi, Governor
Kek bowed slightly and said “We thank you for your hospitality, and we would bes honored to stay in your city. Thank you. Please- lead on. We look forward to seeing your home.”
Kek, Vren Ambassador
Eela was taking in the whole delegation with curiosity. Even with her background, these were people new to her, with different ways of being and nonverbal communication. Understanding that would take time. So for now they could only take things at face value and trust they were getting an accurate picture, and double-check with their guests from time to time. “We thought it might be a good idea for you to stay on the platform for today and then come down to the surface tomorrow for the gala. Then in the following days we can give you a full tour of colony, if that appeals to you,” she said simply.
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Unsure about the Vren, Aiofemi hung out in the back and observed the reactions and interactions. As Ambassador Kek took his first step onto the platform, a mix of anticipation and curiosity filled the air. His physical appearance, with his unique features and vibrant colors, displayed a vivid picture.
The presence of the four additional Vren standing behind Kek on either side, showed they were a unified and organized species. She truly hoped their goal was to build a relationship with the colony.Dr. Ai Oshiro, DMSS
Tiberius was standing with the other Star-fleet personnel, watching everything going on and keeping an eye out for the unexpected. He had Star-fleet security station around the area to keep an eye out for everything. Tiberius wanted to be seen and not heard. He had learned through his career, as a Star-fleet security officer, to be seen and not heard was the best until he was needed. That way, everyone felt safe and not afraid to be themselves or do what was needed for the mission. He knew, especially with the issues with Star-fleet and the colony, to cause the least amount of trouble but being present, would be best. The friction between the colony and Star-fleet was always front on the mind of Tiberius. He knew, as security, it was very important to keep the peach, not only between members of Star-fleet but with the colony as well. He was mostly observing what was going on.
Lt Cmdr Cattaneo
SFCOSMathis had created a shift in the dynamics, subtle though it was. No longer were they entirely in a face off and her change in position invited something more. With a smile, he stepped forward and though he had been introduced already, he gave a bow of his head (mindful of not offering to shake hands) to the Vren ship Captain, Mass’t Ruuk. “Captain Ruuk, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I hope we’ll have a chance to talk and share command stories.”
Captain McBride, Starfleet CO
The Vren regarded McBride cool, or at least that how it seemed with no one being familiar with Vren body language. “Indeed, Captain. I toos think I and you will speaking together. I stare forward to speaking with yous.”
Hyrushi lo9ked at all the assembled individuals and said “We stand on the first step of history. And while the past may try to dictate the next few days; all of us present on own that it is to the future we must move. We welcome our Vren friends, and wish for a productive and mutually beneficial meeting. The gala is tomorrow. The residents of Oed V are excited to meet our neighbors and share a sense of cooperative purpose. Thank you all for coming, and we shall see everyone at the party tomorrow.” He nodded and turned to Ambassador Kek and said “Ambassador, again we welcome you. I look forward to meeting with you and your staff. For now, we know you have had a long and possibly anxious journey. We invite you now to journey with us to the surface or to retire to your vessel until morning.”
Hyrushi, Governor
Griget smiled slightly and said “I believe that, in orders to get sleeps, we will stay here. But we appreciates your offer. Maybe after the party-gala we can able to stay 9n the planet.”
Kek, Ambassador
“Absolutely,” Mathis said, her grin very sincere. “Until tomorrow evening then,” she added with a graceful and deep bow of her head before stepping back, as much a sign to indicate to the Vren that they free to return to their ship.
Overall Karina thought it had gone as well as expected. Every thing was formally and stiffly polite and only small overtures to reduce the tension. She didn’t expect much else. She would make note to remind the children to pay attention if the actually got to speak to any of the Vren that they were still learning Federation Standard and might say things slightly different. She didn’t need them to laugh or correct someone.
Enger, DoE
Sharah thought Ambassador Kek was endearing and very genuine. All the Vren seemed hesitant but genuine. As the group broke up Sharah followed the rest of the Star Fleet officers out of the bay. Even though she knew they were well shielded and disciplined there was a slight touch of support and optimism for Eela and Hyrushi. They had their work cut out for them. In the mean time she needed to make sure that the medical team on call for the Gala and the hospital were all ready and prepared for…well anything from allergies to outright injuries.
Fayth, SFCMO
As the groups began to disperse, Jeanette moved back over to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Jones. She gave a slow nod, her eyes lit up. “Alright then. One step down. A thousand more to go. Immediate thoughts?” the Ambassador said.
