Eela wanted to laugh, as it was amusing to consider, but she couldn’t manage it. “Agent V’ter, we really should stop hanging out like this,” she quipped before she took the crate in her arms.

“I’ll wait for you to finish the sweep. I need some air,” she said, before promptly moving out of the office and through her kitchen to the back hall that ran along the windows and over looked the patio. She stepped out onto the patio from the dining room doors and inhaled to fill her lungs before she blew it out.

Everything out here was becoming lush, with flowers blooming and vegetables growing. Even the flowing vine over the new pergola was in full bloom, letting out a warm and sweet scent. The space was truly coming into its own since Kenzo had first had dinner here. She sat on one of the lounge chair and began to pull out small bags of what seemed to be herbs.

A few long moments later, a hand gently set on the small of her back was the first indication Kenzo was there. “They are gone. No other issues. Are you alright?” he asked softly.

She drew in a s slightly shaky breath as he touched her before Eela blew it forcibly out. “Oh yeah, sure. Some unknown person is trying to sneak into our business and, sure, it makes sense to try me. Fine, whatever,” she said dismissively as she pulled out another bag that held round dark red leaves each about the size of her thumbnail. She opened it and inhaled slightly and nodded. She couldn’t shake the sense of unease though and she wasn’t sure which specific thing had triggered it.

Kenzo stood next to her, not intruding on her… but close enough she could feel his support. “You are still the unknown factor, Eela. It makes sense, from an espionage perspective, to try it against you. And… that does give us an idea of the kind of mind at work. They obviously want something from us or you. More than likely information. So they are familiar with Oed, and have an interest in it. That narrows down the pool of potential perpetrators considerably.”
