Michael set the spoon back down in his bowl as he listened to Kristina. His playful façade was his safe place. It was a sense of normal he felt others could simply get used to. Play around, disappear when needed, freedom. This, however, was different. This was shared experience.

“I hadn’t really considered that,” he said rather honestly as he observed her. “I sort of figured everyone on the ship at that time would go there separate ways. People don’t typically stay. I get used to the comings and goings of many people. Lots of faces in and out. Part of the business. I tend to remember the important ones though. Even back then you made an impression on me. Never forgot you. But everyone moved on. Even the resident doctor here left the ship.”

Kristina smirked. “He seemed to find a compelling enough reason,” she said, thinking of how content Halai and Akem seemed to be together.

Conrad paused as the beginnings of a grin started forming on his face. “Besides, would have done much good for me to randomly show up at places you were? I’m sure that would have been totally ok. Not creepy at all. Not in the slightest.”

That made her laugh. “True.”

“We have now though. No time like the present to get to know each other even more?” he said curiously, seeming to be genuinely interested in her for more than just her curves. She was a looker when she was younger, sure. But now…a woman. He tried his absolute best to keep his eyes trained on hers despite his thoughts.

She gestured at him with her spoon. “You make an excellent point. I guess we’ll just have to make up for lost time.” Kristina took another bite of ice cream.

Conrad simply grinned at that, his eyes remaining poised on her.

“What do we do about our alternate Universe folks? I know she and I don’t owe each other anything but… she’s my sister, even if she isn’t actually.” A bewildered expression swept over her face. “It’s so weird, Michael.”

“Tell me about it!” he blurted out, feeling free to share his feelings more with her on the matter. “Imagine my thoughts when they stumbled into the corridor in their state. I mean, I recognized her, but I also didn’t. It was a trip to be fair. They’re welcome aboard if they choose to stay in this universe. I’m curious about their skill sets, their past. Well, they’ve certainly piqued my curiosity.” He continued eyeing up the eye candy before him as he took another spoonful of ice cream.

She wasn’t oblivious to his deep gaze and whatever was behind it but Kristina just casually took another bite of her ice cream. “Well, I don’t know how they’d get back given they barely understood how they got here. I think they’re stuck and based on what they were saying, they don’t have a lot of reason to want to go back. But… I have to tell Halai, don’t I? It wouldn’t be fair. But that’s a big thing to randomly drop into conversation. ‘Oh hey Sis. So guess what? The you from another Universe randomly showed up. Apparently she and her Akem are being hunted and on the run. But don’t worry, she doesn’t have your tattoos, so while people do double-takes, they don’t really think it’s you.”

Michael laughed. “I could think of worse things to randomly throw in to a conversation. I’m sure it will startle her, but what more can she do about it? They’re here, and I have no plans on helping send them back if that’s not what they want. They can simply stay here aboard the Sparrow if they need to. I could use some helping hands anyway.” he said with a mild chuckle at the end as he took another spoonful of the tasty treat.

Kristina twirled her spoon in her fingers. “I suppose it helps that Halai is living her best life on Tyrellia with her Akem. Still, I know my sister. She’s a scientist n her heart and she’ll want to see the situation for herself. How weird is that going to be?” she said with a shake of her head as she rolled a curl of ice cream onto her spoon and popped it into her mouth.

Conrad raised a curious eyebrowl “Well, if she needs to get here quietly, I’m sure I can offer my services once more. Like a reunion tour! But that’s, of course, a ball in your court. Of course we can skip the payment too. Especially if you plan to tag along.” he said with a smirk before bring his eyes to the bowl before him.
