Yavia had convinced Mika to come home with them. Sharah knew of at least 2 tankards of Blood Wine that Tandra had before she lost track of the evening. She wasn’t sure Mika drank them both, but it was enough. Yavia had…well the woman had a tolerance, but she hadn’t indulged too much.Mika had never had a drop of alcohol in her life. She was done for after the first tankard of bloodwine. She’d drunkenly drank half the second tankard before dumping the rest of it in a plant somewhere.
The celebration had been wonderful, and Sharah was glad she had gone. Jal’na and Lord Duroc were adorable together. Sharah wouldn’t be crazy enough to say that out loud however. Finally though, Yavia had decided the contact drunk was enough for Sharah. Especially when Sharah tried to drag her into a dark corner and tried to call Charles on her comm to join them. As amusing as it was, Yavia knew Sharah wouldn’t want what she was thinking announced over open comms.
She remembered.... Well, some of the night. She had congradulated Jal’na and… that Klingon lord, Mika couldn’t quite recall his name. Duroll? Du… Duroc. When Yavia and Sharah dragged her home, she was completely wasted.
The next morning Yavia was up and cooking breakfast. Something hydrating and light. She also had the equivalent of an aspirin siting in a hypo. Sharah dragged herself out of bed and slipped on her robe. She paused at Mika’s room and knocked very softly. “Mika? There is food and water upstairs.” Then Sharah left her be. The bright open upper floor that Sharah loved was too bright. Yavia chuckled softly and went over to hug her. “Aw, Sweetheart, hangover and you didn’t even drink.”
Sharah and Yavia
Mika woke to the knock with a pounding headache, feeling awful, and still a little dizzy. Several minutes after Sharah left, Mika lumbered out of her room and up to the food, plopping herself down at the table. “Ugh. Remind me to always ask what things are before I drink them,” She complained.
~ Mika
Yavia nodded, “Here,” she brought the hypo over along with a very big glass of water. “Arm or neck?”
“Arm’s fine,” Mika muttered, letting her head drop into her left arm on the table and held her right out for the hypo.
Yavia pressed the hypo to her arm and then rubbed Mika’s arm gently to spread the medicine. “Drink the water, lots of it. It will help.”
Mika nodded without lifting her head. “I know… I will,” she said, voice muffled by her arm.
The food was toasted bread, over-easy eggs, avocado, apple butter, jams, spreads, some light fresh veggies. “My gran swears by tomato juice, but I figured anything red colored was a big no today.”
Yavia
Lifting her head, Mika picked a slice of bread, an egg, and a few of the veggies. Then she dropped her head back onto her arm. “I hate alcohol. I’m never drinking again. Never thought I would in the first place.”
~ Mika
Sharah nodded. “It took me surprise. With as much drinking that was going on, the mood was mostly normal. The Klingon ability to handle alcohol. But then suddenly they were all really drunk.” Sharah was drinking a hot tea blend while walking to the main panel for the house and tinting the windows. Then she slipped into a seat at the table. She grabbed toast and spread apple butter on it and took a bite.
“If it is very painful, Mika, I am happy to help,” Yavia offered.
Sharah
Mika finally lifted her head and drank from the big glass of water. “There’s marching band in my head and I might throw up.” She replied, voice deadpan. She looked at Sharah, “I think that’s how that stuff just works. I didn’t even know it was alcohol until it was too late.”
~ Mika
Sharah spotted the medkit on the bar counter where Yavia had left it. She took the hypo and loaded Zofran into it. “Here, for your stomach.” She gave Mika that hypo in her arm.
“Thanks,” Mika grumbled. The first hypo was already starting to help a little, but she still wanted to do nothing but hide in a dark room and cry.
Yavia pulled a chair up and sat in front of her. She lifted her hand and lightly touched her temple and a moment later the marching band was silenced and the ache in her stomach was eased. “That should help for a bit. Drink up. Lots of water with your food. Juice or tea?”
Sharah
A light touch and the pain was eased, letting Mika feel better and relax. “You’re a magician, thank you,” Mika said to her. “Tea please.” Then she took a bite of her bread and took another drink out of her water.
~ Mika
Yavia chuckled. “Hardly. Just a side effect if being Deltan.” She stood to move her chair back, grabbed tea for Mika and made a plate for herself. She set it down, but before sitting she carried a hypo over and gave it to Sharah. “That should help some. What you really need is more sleep. Eat and go back to bed. We are all off today, barring an emergency.”
Sharah grinned, “More sleep sounds like a good idea. I wonder how Jal’na is faring this morning?”
Yavia chuckled silently, “Several broken bones probably. Buuuut,” she glanced at Tandra, “I’m curious how Kaleesa is this morning, aren’t you Mika?”
Yavia
She took another bite of her toast and then sipped her tea. “I’m getting tired again now just because I feel better,” she said, and chuckled a little. Mika looked at Yavia and then Sharah confusedly. She knew who Kaleesa was, but… “Kaleesa? Why?”
~ Mika
Yavia grinned as Sharah gave her a slightly unsure look. Yavia slid a piece of paper toward Mika. “Because she gave you this before we left.” It was a hand written note with Kaleesa’s comm signal and name, and an honest to goodness SWAK on it.
Yavia
Mika’s jaw dropped. “She did?! Why? What did I do?” She was pretty sure she remembered seeing Kaleesa.... Not sure she remembered what she could’ve possibly done to earn that. She took the piece of paper, looked at it, flipped it over, and then back to the front, and looked at it again, as if wondering it it were some kind of joke. “I didn’t do anything.... embarrassing, did I?” She asked, eyes like saucers, looking back at Yavia and then Sharah.
~ Mika
Sharah thought really hard about it. “I don’t think do. I do know when you saw her you told me she was the most stunning woman you had ever seen and you were going to talk to her. Then you did.” Fayth grinned widely.
Yavia nodded like an old woman suddenly remembering some very vital piece of fact. “You walked right up to her and, looked her in the eyes, and told her, ‘You can read my mind so you know I’m telling the truth when I say you are the most fascinating person I have ever met. So why don’t we skip the awkward part and go over there and you let me buy you a drink.’ And you two ended up the furthest corner booth possible doe the rest of the night.”
Sharah
Mika turned bright red. “I did?” Then she playfully glared at both of them, “That is embarrassing! I would never, ever do that!” She finished off the slice of toast and started on the egg. Then she drank more of the tea. She wanted to get as much food and fluid in her while she felt good. “I mean.... I do like her. But…” She chuckled nervously.
~ Mika
Yavia grinned like the Cheshire cat, “Oh we know. You told us all about how wonderful she is and every little detail you learned about her, 3 times on the way back last night. Before you passed out in bed you told us all that you were going back to the tavern first thing this morning, finding her, and asking her out.”
“I did? Sorry!” Mika actually smacked her own forehead. “Never, ever drinking again. I swear it!”
“Don’t apologize. It was sweet, really.” Yavia patted her shoulder and tucked into her food. “And though I will agree no more bloodwine, you should be proud of how well you handled it. Most non-Klingons are passed out at 1 and a half tankards.”
Sharah’s eyes got big. “I don’t remember that.”
“No probably not Sweetheart. TK was having a time of it trying to get you to settle down and sleep off your contact drunk. You had other ideas. Still had ‘em when I came to bed. In fact you yelled at me for taking so long.”
Sharah turned really red and tried to hide it behind her mug of tea. Time to change the subject, “You should call her, Tandra.”
Yavia
Mika giggled and looked at Sharah, “At least you were with people you know.” Then Sharah changed the topic and Mika turned red and shook her head vigorously. “Call her? Me? Uhm…”
~ Mika
Sharah turned even redder. “Maybe so, but I have the distinct impression I let everyone at the Tavern know it too.” Yavia winked at her, “Oh honey....you have no idea.” Then Yavia tapped a finger on the paper. “Yes, you, call her, this morning. She would be really sad if you don’t.”
Sharah
Mika looked at the paper, Sharah, then Yavia again. Mika would be sad if she didn’t. But when it came to her personal life she was a lot shyer than she was at work. “I don’t know… Maybe I can call her a bit later.” She said, trying to put it off.
~ Mika
Yavia loved stuff like this. As evidence of the amount of ice cream or wine she and the other nursing staff partook of on a regular basis. She nodded thoughtfully. “Yes a bit later. I think you need more water, more food and maybe a shower. That way you feel like yourself.”
Sharah nodded, “We are the same size, you can wear something of mine.”
“Then you will call her if I have to dial her code myself,” Yavia waggled her brows and grinned. “More tea?”
Yavia
“More tea.” Mika agreed, finishing off her first glass. She finished her eggs and a few of the veggies and then shook her head. “I’m full. Maybe I can eat a little more a little later.” Then she looked at Yavia and shook her head, “You’re not letting me out of this, are you?”
~ Mika
Sharah laughed as Yavia got up to get more tea. “No, Tandra, she is not. Yavia believes in taking chances especially for happiness and love.” Yavia set the cup back in front of Mika. “No, you need to call her. I promised her I would give you that paper, so by default I am obligated to make sure you use it.” Then she pointed a finger at Sharah. “Yes I do believe in taking chances. Look how well it turned out for you when you finally just listened to us.” Sharah rolled her eyes but grinned. “I do not remember arguing with you.” Yavia almost spit out her yogurt.
Sharah
Even Mika gave Sharah a look. “I can’t imagine you not arguing.” She drank from her refilled tea and shrugged. “I don’t know… What if I do and it goes somewhere I’m not ready for? Or what if she’s just looking for a casual fling? You know I’m not into that.”
~ Mika
Yavia laughed, a deep belly laugh. “I bet, Tandra, you have stories about my lovely lady over there. We are going to have to chat some time.” She tapped the paper again. “If she was looking for casual she wouldn’t have followed us to the car to give this to you. There were plenty of people making casual passes at her, and she wasn’t interested. And if goes somewhere you aren’t ready for, then you tell her that. If you can’t tell her that, then you two aren’t a good match. You won’t find out if you don’t try.”
Yavia
Mika gave Yavia a mischievous look. “We’ll see about that.” Then she grinned and laughed nervously. “Okaaaaaay. Maybe. After I shower.” She finished the second cup of tea and stood up.
~ Mika
“Oh no. She knew me as a cadet. No thank you.” Sharah gave a fake shudder and got up. “Come on, I’ll grab you some fresh clothes. Bathroom in your room is fully stocked but let me know if you need anything.” Sharah went into her room and came back a couple of minutes later and set the clothes on the bed in Mika’s room. Then she went upstairs to finish her breakfast.
Sharah
Mika chuckled, “Come on, Sharah, I’d tell her good things! Like that time we discovered a parasite together.” She gave Sharah a look and grinned. Then she followed Sharah to the bathroom.
Sharah groaned, but hugged Mika. “You discovered it, I had nothing to do with it.” Sharah was just the petree dish it was growing in.
Mika’s shower was quick and before long she was back upstairs at the table, looking fresher and like she felt more like herself. When she sat down, she pretended she didn’t see the paper.
~ Mika
Yavia pushed the paper toward her and an older model communicator. “Go on. The longer you wait the more likely you are to talk yourself out of it. Come on Tandra, it’s just a little risk, it’ll be worth it.”
Yavia
