Sharah had an idea. She’d had it for awhile, but she’d never quite followed through with it. It wasn’t a big deal really, or anything that hadn’t been done before. For her though, it was huge. Accepting a little part of herself, allowing it to be her normal. She had one problem though. She had these two magnificent paintings in her room and she didn’t want them damaged. She was sure she could have asked Charles, but she wanted to do this herself. Show them both the end result after.

Sharah knew who to ask though. It was hard to get away on her own. Yavia and Charles had this ‘every night is date night’ mantra. Sharah adored them for it. She made an appointment for where she needed to go. Sharah moved some appointments around and took her lunch to go to Turner’s gallery. Surely he knew all about caring for and protecting artwork. If Sharah was lucky she might find a couple of pieces for the hospital as well. Helaky had mentioned changing some of the art work in the lobbies.

So early afternoon found Sharah entering the gallery that she had only visited by pure chance and accident. That was only a couple of days after the protest, before she had become so depressed. It occurred to her now how often she had run into Charles, and even Yavia, outside of work then. She chuckled softly, the universe knew better than she did. She walked up to the door and pressed the button beside the door.

Sharah

Franklin Turner, the distinguished human who ran the gallery that bore his name, opened the door with a smile. “Dr. Fayth. Welcome. C’mon in.” he said and ushered her inside. “I was surprised to hear from you, actually. And curious. What can I do for you?” He didn’t take her to an office or anywhere other than straight inside. The place was ready for an exhibition, but all the pieces were shrouded under white cloth.

Turner, Turner Gallery

Sharah stepped through the door and slightly out of the way. Seeing all the white cloth, she didn’t offer to wander or look. “Thank you, Mr Turner.” Sharah had no idea if Charles had told Turner about them or not, but either way she would proceed as if she didn’t know the secret…or that she did? “Well I have a question concerning the Anonymous painting I received from your gallery.”

Fayth

Turner’s eyebrows arched in surprise. “Oh really? That was a long time coming… but I am happy to help. What’s your question?”

Turner

Sharah grinned, not the question he was expecting probably. “Well I’ve moved recently. It’s still sitting in the crate because my living arrangements are quite humid, and I’m afraid it will damage the piece. I have two paintings actually, the other was given to me by a friend. And since your business is art, I was hoping you might tell me how to protect them.”

Fayth

Turner nodded and said “Well… sure. I mean, I’ll need some specifics of course if you want a plan. But if you are just looking for advice, I can certainly do that. Can you tell me more about your living area? Lighting, humidity levels, height off floor… you know, some of the specifics?”

Turner

Sharah nodded slowly mentally gathering the information. “The average temp is around 24 C but the room I’m thinking of can go as high as 27C. The lighting is mostly artificial but not direct. There is some natural light early in the morning through a couple of solar tubes, but again not directly where I intend to hang the painting. Less than a meter off the floor. Humidity is usually between 70 and 75%.”

Fayth

Turner thought for a moment, staring at one of the shrouded pieces, and then said “Well, I forgot see any real need for specialized care or protection. The humidity levels are well within the tolerable levels for canvas backed oil or acrylic paintings. And with no direct light on it, it could last for decades with little fading.” He looked back at her and smiled. “Of course, mounting a UV filtering glass over the painting is always an option. But I find doing so… disconnects one from the subject matter. Even a transparent barrier is a barrier, after all.”

Turner

Sharah returned his smile. She dutifully refused to pry. She was quite curious about the man that convinced Charles to paint professionally. “This is true. I enjoy art, but have no background for the care and keeping of it. Given the amount of flora in the space I wanted to be sure. I would hate to damage the piece. It was an unexpected but wonderful surprise.” She looked around at the shrouded pieces. “You are preparing for a new show? Do you still have any of the pieces from the previous one?”

Fayth

Turner smiled and said “We are, yes. Opening is next week. It was to be this week, but with the Vren arrival, we pushed it back. And as far as pieces from the showing you attended; no, I’m sorry. The ones that were not purchased I sent to another of the galleries and they were snatched up there. If you are interested in another piece–” and he smiled knowingly, “- I’m quite certain the artist would be aminable to working directly with you.” and he laughed. “Sorry, Doctor… but the vid from the Wild Fork was not easily missed.”

Turner

Sharah smiled making a futile attempt not to be embarrassed, “No, I don’t suppose it was. It’s not the painter I was interested in though, but the sculptor. We have had some discretionary funds come available at the hospital and several of the medical staff attended. They were hoping to aquire a couple of pieces for the hospital.” She lifted a slight shoulder. “I suppose that means I will get to come to the next show and make purchases then.”

Fayth

Turner said “Oh! The Artist Erin. Yes. She is known to take the occasional commission. I can put you touch with her representative, if you like. Showcasing her work in Sacred Heart would likely appeal to her.”

Turner

“She had some beautiful pieces and some rather unique ones that several people have mentioned. That would be lovely if you know a way to contact her. I remember from the show they were both quite private individuals.” She smiled. “Otherwise I won’t take up more of your time.”

Fayth

Turner smiled and said “You are never a bother, doctor. I will contact the Artist Eryn and make the introduction on your behalf. If she is interested, I’m sure she will reach out. Is that acceptable?”

Turner

“Oh quite. Thank you, Mr Turner. You have been very helpful. Especially since I was overly worried for nothing.” Sharah grinned, “I would have hated to damage them though. Both paintings are exquisite.” Sharah stepped toward the door. “I looked forward to your next show.”

Fayth

“I will ensure the three of you have standing invitations. Take care, Doctor.” Turner said with a smile. “I hope to see you again soon.” and he opened the door for her.

Turner

Sharah laughed quietly, “We won’t tell Yavia that. She was quite flattered you gave her such an invitation. And the other, well, we know he will come for your beer.” Sharah made her way down the street. She had enough time to stop at Leaf in Peace before she had to be back for her next appointment.

That afternoon several small packages had been delivered and Sharah took them to her room. Firmly refusing Yavia’s help. Sharah was being quite secretive about whatever it was that she was doing. She would just grin, shake her head, and change the subject. And made sure to keep her door firmly closed.

Around a week later, Sharah was home by herself while Yavia and Charles were at work. She lost track of time. Their presences were so familiar and essential she often reached for that connection out of pure need, even when they were just in the next room.

She was in her room, music playing and dancing as she worked. And Sharah could dance, she loved it, enjoyed it, and it showed. She was singing along too, totally engrossed and oblivious in what she was doing.

I don’t wanna be left behind
Distance was a friend of mine
Catching breath in a web of lies
I’ve spent most of my life
Riding waves, playing acrobat
Shadowboxing the other half
Learning how to react
I’ve spent most of my time
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won’t be told what’s supposed to be right
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain’t got time for that
Catch my breath, won’t let them get me down, it’s all so so simple now
Addicted to the love I found
Heavy heart, now a weightless cloud
Making time for the ones that count
I’ll spend the rest of my time
Laughing hard with the windows down
Leaving footprints all over town
Keeping faith, Karma comes around
I will spent the rest of my life
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won’t be told what’s supposed to be right
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain’t got time for that
Catch my breath, won’t let them get me down, it’s all so so simple now
You helped me see
The beauty in everything
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won’t be told what’s supposed to be right
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won’t be told what’s supposed to be right
Catch my breath
Catch my breath, no one can hold me back, I ain’t got time for that
Catch my breath, won’t let them get me down, it’s all so so simple now
It’s all so simple now

“Ya know, if I knew you could move like that, I might not have taken that ‘no’ yiu gave me when I first asked ya out asa final answer.” Charles said with a grin. He was leaning in the doorway in his uniform having just come home from work.

Sharah was at that moment standing in a stepstool, still dancing. One foot on the top step, the other balanced on the edge of the footboard of the bed, doing something with…the canopy? Of the bed that had not been there before. He was such a welcome and needed presence Sharah hadn’t really paid attention to how close he was, just that he was near. She practically squeaked in surprise, fell, onto the mattress and looked at him. He looked good standing in the door way like that. She grinned and then laughed. A hurt shadow chased across the back of her eyes but was quickly gone. “If you had asked me to go dancing I wouldn’t have been able to say no.”

The room....well it looked like a forest. There were plants everywhere. Shrubs, flowers, 4 foot trees in pots, vines, moss, filled the room.

Sharah

Charles looked at her and grinned. “I mean… I appreciate your first instict when I show up is to hop inta bed… but hun I just got home. I need a shower.” and he grinned and winked.

“Is that an invitation?” Sharah slid off the bed and across the room into his arms. “I’m glad you’re home.” Sharah kissed him, deeply, love and contentment poured into it. Her arms slipped around his waist and hugged him tightly

“I like the motif in here.” he said as he looked around. “Like camping… but inside.” and he laughed.

Tenkiller

Sharah grinned, “You haven’t seen the whole thing yet.” It made her incredibly happy that he liked it.

Sharah

“I’m home!” The words were much subdued than normal, but still carried Yavia’s ever present laughter. Her voice carried closer as she made her way down the stairs. “It has been a hell of a day. I need…no I demand all the embraces!” She laughed softly seeing them together. “Oh good you’ve already started!” Yavia slipped an arm around them both and kissed one then the other and deflated a little against them.

Sharah’s door was open though and Yavia was curious what she had been hiding. Her eyes scanned the room and then she stage whispered to Charles with a grin, “Did I miss where she took the whole backyard and brought it in here?”
