“Right, a place or two. Then I’ve been to a place or two myself.” Jezem eyed the other wares and without missing a beat, began to haggle for a jar of plum preserves. Though initially aggressive in his approach to give the student a fair challenge he was satisfied with a small percentage off. Whether he got something for half off or 1% off didn’t matter to him. Anything was acceptable. . . except full price.
Jessie was looking around, pretending to be bored, but he was taking in the whole market with a keen eye.
Meanwhile, Ren had a list of things they were looking for. “Does anyone know if there is an artist supply shop nearby. I know there are some on the colony, but I’m still getting my bearings and not sure what’s in close walking distance. or not.”

“There is a homemade art supplies stall a little ways ahead,” Jezem said idly while he admired his purchases. What to do with fresh strawberries. . . ah, of course! He’ll dip them in sugar coating and set them atop a homemade cake. With bitter earth chocolate to balance out the sweet. Argam will be happy. The ferengi had more of a sweet mouth than a sweet tooth.
Jezem
Ren turned to Jezem, taking in the beings appearance with curiosity and nodded. “It depends on what sort of supplies they have on offer. I’m a ceramic artist, so my supplies can be pretty specific.”
Laxeth nodded, “That stall is very good, but a limited amount. They have a shop in the craft district where they have their full inventory. The Golden Kkaxx market, I have heard, carries everything. They just opened. So they might have something as well.”
Enger
Jeanette and Ren gazed at each other. “Worth checking out. Maybe they’ll have some locally derived clay as well,” Ren said. “It would be fascinating to work with,” they said, their eyes lighting up at the possibility of continuing a particular series here on Oed.
“You might head to the arts district,” Zineth, a Betazoid boy said. “Most of their studios are open to go in and watch or such. They might be able to tell you where to find certain things. Native clay, like most native resources might be hard to find, but the other artists should know.” Brisv pipped up, “Oh there is a shop…a block east of Paget square, they do pottery painting. Like a tourist thing. I bet they would know where to get it.”
Ren nodded. “An excellent suggestion, thank you. I’m sure they will be able to help.”
Reilly picked up two more jars of different fruit jams, paid, and then said to the students “I certainly wish you success. What you have done here is fantastic. Keep it up, okay?” and he gave them a friendly smile. He turned and looked at Mathis. “Ambassador, it was a pleasure seeing you again. I hope your time on Oed is as uneventful as possible.” and he chuckled and held out his hand.
Reilly, DD-CIA
The students smiled, trying not to look too excited over the compliment. “Thank you, Sir, we will. Hope you like the jams.”
Amusement touched her eyes as Jeanette shook his hand. “All things considered, something to hope for yes.”
Meanwhile, Ren paid for their items as well, elbowing Jessie gently. The teen gave a grunt before smirking at their per. Jessie chewed on the inside of his cheek and gave the teens at the booth a nod. “So, uh, I guess I’ll be seeing you around then.”

Kupi smiled, which was just disturbing, “I hope we see you in class or at the sports complex.”
Enger and Students
“Oh this all looks delicious,” a very pretty blonde haired, blue eyed woman walked up, wearing a blue Star Fleet uniform and a long knee length cardigan. She had a huge smile that took in everyone. She walked up to Reilly and leaned into his side for a moment, peeking in his bag. “Whatdya get?” She was holding an insulated cup that by the looks was a peach milkshake, with some kind of double ring that held a second cup. In the second was what looked like Hot Deltan Peppers, with a slight vinegary smell - the peppers had been pickled, and she was dipping the peppers into the milkshake.

Reilly smiled broadly at the women and said “Some jam, some jellies, and couple preserves. Sweet and savory so yiu can mix and match.” he said with a chuckle.
Hannah returned his smile, something just for him in her look. Her mouth made a little “O” shape as he listed off what he got. She refrained from saying what she thought they might taste good with. It sounded strange even to her. She turned a little towards him and her hands moved smoothly. More culinary adventures?
Jeannette smiled and gave the woman a bow of her head. “Hello,” she said.

Hannah stopped with a pepper half way to her mouth and looked at the woman who spoke. She recognized her, she had been informed about all the important personages on the colony, on the off chance she had to step in for Dr Fayth. She dropped the pepper back into the cup and straightened herself just slightly. She was off duty after all, and this wasn’t a formal function. It was a farmer’s market, and from the looks of it the woman was here with her family. Hannah graced her with a dazzling smile. Holding the cups kept Hannah’s hands still as she spoke, but that did nothing to cover up her voice and the muffled ennunciation. “Hello. I’m Hannah.”
Asimina, SFAMO
Reilly shouldered the bag and looked at the Ambassador. As he spoke, his hands moved in practiced and purposeful gestures. “Ambassador Mathis, may I introduce my… partner… Lieutenant Hannah Asimina, Assistant Chief Medical Officer for Oed V. Hannah, Ambassador Mathis and her family.”
Reilly, DD-CIA
As Jason began to gesture, Hannah flushed slightly, smiling warmly. She watched his hands and then looked at Mathis as he gestured to her.
Mathis smiled warmly. “It’s very nice to meet you, Doctor.” She gestured to the tall person beside her with pale green eyes and short auburn hair. “And this is my spouse, Ren, and…” Jeannette turned to look behind her and Ren to find that their son was no longer with them at the booth. She frowned slightly and focused on the busy market and then turned back to Reilly and Asimina. “And somewhere further along is our teenage son, Jessie, who apparently has had enough of his parent’s socializing,” she said with a slight smirk. She wasn’t worried for his safety given that she had no doubt their guards were keeping an eye on him. She knew it was important that he had a modicum of freedom, especially at this age.
“I’m surprised it took him this long to drop us,” Ren said with a chuckle.
~Ambassador Mathis & Family
Her hands moved in the same purposeful movements but flowed more, like strokes of a brush, despite holding her cup. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ambassador, and your family.” Hannah grinned, giving the impression she might have laughed, but she didn’t. “I remember those days. Even in a small colony world, we thought we were cooler than out parents.” She glanced at Reilly with an obvious grin and back. “What do you think of the market?”
Asimina, SFAMO
Reilly smiled and said “Very interesting. Very much so.” He leaned in and kissed her cheek. He then looked back at Mathis and Ren. “I remember that age. Parents were just ugh.” and he laughed. “Hey, I don’t want to keep you, but maybe the two- three if you can find him- of you would like to have dinner sometime? I’m no good in the kitchen yet, but I can make a mean reservation.” and he chuckled.
Reilly, DD-CIA
Jeannette and Ren exchanged a look, and it was Ren who smiled first. It was not only hard being the new ones around, but Jean’s work added a level of barrier and complication that not everyone was willing to traverse for a simple meal. Jeannette gazed at Reilly and Asminia, and her subsequent smile was genuine. “That would be really lovely. We’re staying in temporary accommodations until the residential portion of the embassy is finished being renovated. But we’ve been trying to get out and get to know the colony better, so while we can’t speak for Jessie, dinner out sounds great. We’ll leave the choice of place to your expertise,” she said, even breaking into a grin. While she wasn’t the most effusive person (for perhaps obvious reasons), what emotion she did show publicly was always genuine.
