OOC: This is the TLDR summary of the Tipping Point storyline. The events kicked off on a Sunday (the morning after the fundraising bachelorette auction for Sacred Heart. The vid was posted later that day.

On Sunday, a local was meeting up with a visiting friend at one of the hotels when a curious scene ensured. Later they posted a video clip entitled Crazy Scene at the Seven Palms Hotel. Inside the swanky hotel lobby was the scene of heavily armed security folks leading a man through the lobby. They were filming from behind mostly until they moved around and caught an image of the man’s profile, though he was gazing downwards so it was hard to see his face clearly. It was posted with a caption saying there were armoured vehicles with flashing lights outside and the poster was curious what was going on. The subsequent comments had all sorts of speculation and it almost became like a little game.

Monday, Twenty-Five Hours Later

Amongst all the speculation about the video, a new response appeared:

The man in this video is my ex-husband. What you are seeing is him being escorted to his hotel room after he violated the safety of myself and my home. He is not welcome on this planet. Though it is unlikely a similar incident will ever occur, I have obtained a restraining order for my own protection.

Yesterday, it felt like the planet had been knocked off its axis and I along with it. Yesterday someone showed up saying they loved me and that I owed them a place in my life. What they really wanted was control and I have the marks on my arm from their hand to prove it. I owe them nothing.

For too long I have silently endured being made the enemy, the one with the problem, the one who did nothing right. I left my marriage to save myself but even then I didn’t understand how deep the negative messaging went, how much smaller he had made me and my life.

Today I am getting my feet under me again with the help of wonderful people. I have a support network of people who truly care about me and with their love and kindness I will find my way through this. But it will take time. This is not something I can get over with the snap of my fingers. But I also know that when I am ready to walk back into the office, I will do so with the same determination to do right by the people of this colony that I have had since the day I arrived. After suffering a brain and spinal injury I struggled to find a new home, a new purpose in life. Oed has been the place where I have once again found a home where I feel I can be and thrive as myself… or at least I am getting there. As with many things, it’s a process.

For now I ask you to be gentle with me as I figure this all out. I ask for your patience. I may choose to speak of this more, or I may not. That choice resides with me and me alone. And in the meantime I am taking things one day at a time.

Naturally, the speculation shifted, and as news on Oed often did, it spread quickly.

Trolls are trolls no matter the era or the place. As soon as the reply was posted, the trolls started to show themselves…

And were very quickly shut down. An hour or two of some mocking the response, belittling the Lt. Governor for treating her ex-husband so ‘unfairly, and a few just random attack comments were posted when the social network of Oed V made itself known.

[Never. Never on Oed will we stand for spousal abuse.]

[Kudos to the Lieutenant Governor for speaking out. And its good to see that waste getting the boot off of our planet!]

[We are glad you are okay, Ms. Dasca. Thank you for speaking up. Hopefully this encourages anyone else in a similar position to seek help.]

[Question. Was this response just because of the position of the victim? Or does everyone get the same level of help?] (This was followed almost immediately by a message from the Oed Police: “The escorts in the vid are the CCDA security detail for the Lieutenant Governor. But know that if you need help, we are here for you.”) (This was followed by a message from the question-asker: “DM sent.”) (And then another in less than a minute from Oed PD: “On our way.”) This part of thread was going viral and had over a hundred thousand views.
