(snip)

Sharah looked at Yavia and she nodded, “You go too. I’m fine. Go breathe.” Yavia hugged them both. “TK will you drop her at the hospital? I’ll cook. Something really different. We’ll enjoy or have a good laugh at my expense.” She left the room.

Sharah shook her head, “I can call for the transporter.” She really needed to be away from people so she could breathe and center herself. The hospital didn’t feel like the place to do that. Maybe out in the trees for awhile. She kissed him, “I love you.”

Sharah

He smiled at her and said “I love you too, Sharah. And I don’t mind dropping you somewhere. Or maybe we can go play hooky together?” and he grinned and winked at her. “I know a few cafes and a nice old-time movie theatre, if you would be interested.”

Tenkiller

“Oh, I am very interested.” That was the best idea Sharah had heard since they built the deck. And playing hooky to go on a date with Charles was perfect. “And I think Yavia would approve of us playing hooky.”

Yavia climbed the stairs and went into the kitchen. “You two need anything? I’m making sandwiches for the crew outside. They gotta eat too.”

Yavia

Eela had eaten half her pita and couldn’t eat anymore. Instead she sat sipping her water (she was temped to refill her whiskey but thought better of it) while resting her right arm gently on the edge of the table. She couldn’t feel the pain in her shoulder and arm but it did feel more stiff. “Nothing for me,” she said quietly. After all the emotional turmoil earlier, she was allowing herself to get quiet, to listen for her intuition. It felt strangely absent now, but in reality there had been a disconnect for awhile. Years.

There was a path forward revealing itself to her and though she was reluctant, if there was anything Eela Dasca knew it was how to take difficult steps forward. This would be no different.
