“Dehydrated.” he said dryly, but with a slight hint of humor. “I will say… your hesitation at first was expected. But I will say you certainly found your stride. I don’t think you should worry about disappointing Mr. Jones. I will ask, however, that you give him five minutes to stretch beforehand. I think you made me pull a hamstring.”
Kenzo
She responded with a boisterous laugh. “Oh… oh no…” Eela laughed some more. “Oh, well, all I can say to that is… lesson learned?”
Eela studied him, her eyes tracing the way the tattoos wove in and amongst each others. “I really want to ask about the tattoos, but I understand how personal body art can be.”

He glanced down at them and said “They are meaningful. But yes, it is personal. I can tell you what the images mean, but I will not go into why I have them.” He got out of bed and stood up, not ashamed of his nudity or being vulnerable, and began pointing out things. “Color is as important in Japanese tattoos as the image itself. Each color carries a message or meaning. White, for instance, is the color of death. But it also stands for purity and truth. Only in death can we know the meaning of life. Red is the color of happiness and joy, and also passion and vitality as it is the color of blood. Black is the color of mourning, but only if it used with white. Blue is luck. Green is life and respect for the earth. Yellow is often seen as joy and prosperity, but in many places it is the color of deceit. Purple is the color of the ancient nobility. Now this-” and he pointed to a beastial face in pale blue with yellow eyes and teeth, “-is an Oni. They are evil spirits who tempt and cause obstructions. They are very strong and very fast. This-” and he pointed to another face, this one deep red and sinister. “This is a Namahage. Think of him as a wicked Santa Claus. Instead of bringing presents and gifts, he seeks to punish and discipline the wicked.” He went on to explain several more of the images and what their meanings were in general; but he gave her no personal information about when, where, or why he had what he had. What was obvious was that they were done by a single artist, and the time… and pain… to do them would have been immense.

Eela loved the mythology behind many of them and was far too respectful to press for anything more than he was offering. Once again she was more than a little awed by the patience going through the process would have required. She did have one question she felt was safe though, or so she hoped. Eel knew he’d simply tell her if he didn’t want to answer and he knew she’d be fine with that. “I am curious about the extent of them though. Why the whole body?”

He looked at her and smiled and said “Family tradition.” He then went back to the bed and stood near the edge, looking down at her. “Thank you, Eela. This was… much needed. And not just by you. But I do hope that knowing that you can will help you know when you should.” He then slowly set his knee on the bed and said “And as it is still early, perhaps we should make sure the realization is fully comprehended.”
Kenzo
Propping herself up on her arm more, her eyes were almost backlit. “Would be shame to leave any doubts.” Eela turned on her side and reached her hand out to him adopting an innocent expression. “Are you sure you’ve stretched enough? I wouldn’t want to be responsible for any unintentional injuries.”
~Eela
He took her hand and straddled her thighs with his knees as he said “I could say the same thing…” as he leaned down.
Some hours later…
As they lay in the now entirely disheveled bed, Kenzo stared at the ceiling and said “You do realize that if Mr. Belanger and Ms. Fen ever find out about this, they will be so insufferable we will have to fire them.” and he chuckled.
Kenzo
Eela laughed as she lay there. “Add Sreer too. She’s an empath and if the other two know, I can’t see her not. Would be terrible to have to start over with new staff.” It went without saying that this was no business but their own, but she also knew they both understood that there would always be people who who gleefully use such knowledge against them for their own ends. That could not and would not happen.
“Oh, what time is it anyway? I’ve lost track. All I know is that it’s been long enough that I feel far more sober than earlier.”
~Eela
He looked at the chronometer. “It is… four o’clock in the morning.” he said. He looked at her and said “You are welcome to stay here and sleep. And I will adjourn to my room so that we ensure that actually happens. But first, a shower. If you care to join me, I would not object.” and he slid out of bed and walked into the bathroom, leaving the door open as he turned on the water.
Kenzo
“You’re not actually helping the cause, you know?” she called after him, before chuckling to herself. If she were being sensible, Eela would stay right where she was. But as had been slowly revealed since she arrived and Kenzo had a up-close viewing of, was that Eela Dasca’s mischievous side was stronger than it appeared and she was all to happy to indulge it. Ahh, what the hell!
Rolling carefully to the edge of the bed and planting one foot on the floor she pushed herself upright, meandering towards the shower. Yep, she would feel this night later. Still worth it.
A little after 0900 Eela woke up alone in bed after most definitely not enough sleep. Her body was tired but very used to getting up at a certain time and she was already pushing that. Saturdays were the Farmers Market after all. Yeah, that was not happening. As it was the auction was tonight and she’d need to be on her game. There was definitely a nap in her future.
She dressed, throwing the sweater dress back on, the brace very much needed and helpful. Eela brushed out her hair pulling it back loosely at the nape of her neck. She grabbed her comm checking for any messages and sure enough there was a reminder from Shrine of the arrival time for the auction participants. Comm in hand she wandered to the kitchen in search of coffee and a lot of water. If he wasn’t up yet she’d make some for them.
