“It takes up the entire patio and we made it so there are sort of rooms. A cooking and entertaining area, a lounge area. Soon I’ll have a hot tub out there, which is good for my back.” Eela relaxed a little, her hands gestural as she spoke, more fluid. “The whole side of my apartment is windows and the main living area is adjacent to the patio, so I can entertain and people could move back and forth. But mostly I just like going out in the morning with my coffee and checking on things. Seeing the changes, picking out weeds or trimming things as needed.” She shrugged. “I don’t have a lot of free time so having something that will survive if I can’t get to it for a day or two, but… I guess it’s my way of setting roots down on Oed. My way of saying “I’m staying’.”

“A hot tub! That sounds very relaxing,” Mika encouraged, nodding. “The entire garden sounds great.” She nodded again, with slight hesitancy, “That’s good! So, what do you like to grow? What are your garden favorites?”

Eela tapped her right fingers on the thigh and gazed at Mika. “Look, I appreciate you giving me a topic change so we can pause, take a breather, whatever it is. As much as I would love to spend awhile talking about my garden I do have a really busy schedule.”

“So.... No favorite plant then?” Mika asked and smiled a big, friendly smile. Then she turned serious again. “We can wrap up for today, but I really, really suggest we make this a regular thing. It will help, I really think so.”

“Ask me about the plants next time. We can kick off with them,” Dasca said dryly before her expression shifted and she smiled ever so slightly. “I knew you were going to say that, and I’m going to complain a lot about having to fit yet another standing appointment into my schedule but far be it from me to disagree.”

Eela rose to her feet and grabbed her jacket. She turned and eyed Tandra. “I can’t promise I won’t be a pain in the ass, but I do actually know that therapy has value, even for me. I can’t even say I’m set in my ways, because as you said I’ve been through life-changing stuff. What we do with that, I suppose we’ll just have to see.”

She bowed her head to Mika. “Counsellor,” she said, before heading out of the office.
