“Yes, it would” Eela said, looking over Yavia as she returned. She pushed the irritation from the call away (nothing a strong drink could deal with later) and focused on the loveliness that was the Deltan. “The troublemaker in me wants to say wear it and don’t care a shred what anyone else thinks,” she said with a wink.

Yavia winked at Eela, “Oh you and I are going to have so much fun together. I may wear it just to irritate Shrine.”

Jal’na laughed loudly from the dressing room. “Better you than the rest of us!”

Eela laughed. “Remind me another time to tell you about the time my fellow psychology cadets and I went out clubbing one night and we all ended up in the Commandants office the next morning. For the record, it was not my idea to steal the shuttle.*

Sharah snorted, “I think it is a trap. There is not one year of cadets with at least one group that doesn’t try to steal a shuttle.”

Eela flashed them a wicked grin. “I never said it was a Starfleet shuttle.”

Upon exiting the dressing room in the navy blue jumpsuit, Mika saw Yavia and grinned. “I agree, that one’s not for the auction. It’s very nice, though.” As for the grey dress suit Jal’na had picked, Mika thought it was a great choice. The navy jumpsuit looked good for Mika. It fit her perfectly, and it seemed to help her confidence how good it looked. The lace sleeves came down to about an inch above her wrists and the waist section fit snug around her body. “What do you think?”

A warm smile flooded Eela’s face. “It suits you very much. I can tell you feel at ease in it.” And as far as Eela was concerend, that was the thing that mattered most.

Sharah nodded with a huge grin. It was very flattering in Tandra. “You should get it, just because. You look gorgeous. But even if you don’t get it now, at least you know where to get it later if you do.”

“I am getting this one. I really like it.” Mika replied.

Yavia walked up to Mika and leaned her shoulder against hers. “With us dressed like this, we will single-handedly make all the credits the fundraiser needs.”

Mika giggled and smiled. “You could do that all on your own. Don’t need me for it.” She nudged Yavia, “Not just because of the dress, either.”

“Jal’na, my dear, not even going to show us the red one? It looked so lovely,” Dasca said, adopting an innocent expression though underneath she was brimming with mischief. She could intuit something based on the Klingon’s myriad of emotions today and a particular cultural concept, but sometimes a dress was just a dress.

Yavia’s head snapped up and around. Did Eela say ‘red dress’? Jal’na paused and gave the Lt Gov a look. “I let you out of therapy for this!” Jal’na’s face suddenly had a copperish tint to her cheeks. The red one had been stunning, she didn’t need to look for another.

Aha! Confirmation, but Eela kept that tightly under wraps. “And I’m grateful. And I fully understand I’ll pay for it dearly later,” she said, grinning.

“Jal’na?” Yavia asked with a hint of mischeviousness. She stage whispered to Mika, “I do believe she is keeping juicy secrets from us.”

These were her friends and Jal’na wanted to tell them, but she was enjoying the teasing and the secret, for a few more minutes.

Jal’na

Mika looked at Jal’na and smiled, “I have to agree. She doesn’t have to tell us though… Not if she doesn’t want.”

“Naturally,” Eela said. “Well, I better go change out of this. As much as I love the idea of strutting into the Tower in this lovely gown, I think it might be too distracting.”

She slipped back into her change room.

Jal’na smirked, “Well if you all want to know, you can come Tuesday to tangqa’ Tavern at 1900. You might see me in a red dress.” She chuckled and made sneaky arrangements for her purchases. Sharah and Yavia did as well. Sharah grinned, “That was easier than I thought.”

“Well, I’ll be there. I’m sure I can find the time in my schedule,” Dasca said appearing back in her work clothes. She absolutely adored parties. Called it a Haliian trait. She swore they were genetically predisposed to love a festive occasion. Even the most introverted Haliian would absorb the positive energy from whatever distance they felt comfortable with.

Eela took her dresses with her and before she left she smiled at the group, feeling a sense of camaraderie with these women that was sadly missing in her life. It warmed her heart. “Thank you inviting me. It was fun. Have a good day.”
