The day had been arduous. With the Vren soon to arrive, the Federation embassy being finalized, and a gala event in the works- all in eight days- the day was filled with back-to-back meetings, comms, more meetings, more comms, menu suggestions, guest list planning and name submissions for vetting, inquiries from the media, and a non-stop array of calls into the government offices. So it was with more than a little relief that the last call ended and his aide told him that all the needed ingredients for the dinner had been found and sent to his residence.

Kenzo pressed the comms. =/\= Have the car brought around, please. =/\= and he stood and walked behind the dividing wall, entered the secret stairwell that existed between the Governor’s office and the Lieutenant Governor’s a floor below. He paused at the door into her office and listened. Not hearing anyone, he entered and said “Good evening. Are your ready to go?” when he saw her.

Sitting at her desk, Eela was frowning with her chin resting on her hand. She nodded slowly, not even looking up. “In just a moment.” Her deep focus as she read through the words on her screen was not interrupted by his presence and she tapped a couple keys before letting out an audible exhale and leaning back in her chair. Her hazel eyes took him in and she smiled softly. “Just going through last draft of my public statement about the Vargas matter. It seems to be a day for strong statements. Cort will proof it for me and we’ll release it in the morning once I’ve gone over it again.”

Turning in her chair, Eela rose and grabbed the heavily embroidered black jacket off the back, slipping it on. She moved over to a low shelf that sat next to a new hanging plant trellis and reached out to touch the vine, which rather than retreat seemed to move towards her touch as she grabbed her bag off the shelf.

“All right, ready to go,” she said, gesturing for him to leave the office first. If their aides were weirded out by either of the leaders appearances and disappearances from their offices, they’ve yet to see it, though she could feel the curiosity it sometimes engendered in hers.
