He thought for a long moment, fingers steeed and lips pursed as he contemplated the avenue she suggested. “I think we make it very very clear. Oed is not to be an afterthought. Not once more. We expect full disclosure of any diplomatic, Star Fleet… Star Fleet Intelligence… FedSec or other Federation organization activity within Oed territory. We expect any off-planet law enforcement activity to be coordinated with the appropriate Oed agency and our offices. We may or may not intervene as we see fit. If they fail to do so, we will see that as just cause to hold an immediate and legally binding independence referendum.” He was silent another moment and then added “They are already aware of the amount of support that road has. I think putting the impetus on them to maintain open and timely communication is the right approach.” He then tilted his head to the side and asked “How do you think Mathis will react to that? She will be the messenger, after all.”

A wicked gleam appeared in her eyes. “She’s just the messenger, as she has been for many, many things. On the record she’ll adopt an understanding if restrained response, but off the record?” Eela chuckled. “Knowing what I know, she’ll probably want to wink and give us an encouraging nod. I know this for… reasons.” Things she probably shouldn’t know about Mathis, but she did. Just because something was classified, didn’t mean people didn’t know about it. It was the who that mattered though and Eela had no intention of revealing anything she shouldn’t. She had kept her own damn classified mission a secret, hadn’t she? She could keep someone else’s.

Kenzo nodded and said “Very well. I will write the draft of the statement. You review and we will discuss. Then we will, together, present it to the Ambassador. Once she has delivered the message, we will release it to the public. Expect celebrations. And that may ease people’s mind about the impending Vren arrival.”

“Sounds like a plan,” Eela said with a smile. There was something about plotting planetary actions and reactions that just put her in a different frame of mind. She tilted her head and gazed at him intently for a moment, mirth in the undercurrent of her emotions. “Now that we have all those pesky details out of the way, don’t you owe me homemade sushi?” she deadpanned.

Kenzo’s obsidian eyes flashed with mischief, though his face remained passive. “‘Owe’ may be a strong term for it. However, I do seem to recall making that offer. If you wish to accept, I suppose I could be persuaded to prepare. When are you thinking? Tonight? My home?”

Kenzo

She smiled warmly at him. “It sure beats dinner at my desk, which will thrill Cort, and my place is being renovated, so that sounds lovely, actually.”

“What’s the rest of your day like? Will be you be here for us to leave together, or should I meet you there?” Eela asked. She didn’t have to stop at home first, so it would be easier to just head right over.

Kenzo checked his calendar and then said “I am here until this evening, so you can join me when I leave.” He tapped a few commands into the computer (grocery list) and sent it to Dorma. “I will make everything but the rice. We would be spending hours waiting. Ms. Fen will get us some already made. So… shall we do some actual work today? Or do we sit and discuss revilution?” he asked with a small smile.
