“Vren are at cross-roads. Vren history filled with inter-species conflict. Tribal warfare. Many Vren died. In some way, good thing. Allowed for faster social changes, no older generations controlling things too long. Vren have not had major war in over… sixty of your years. Older Vren still hold power… influence. Population is majority younger Vren, more open to outside. Older Vren push back. Tell younger Vren they lacks the experience. Tell me I do not understand how galaxy is.” Suddenly, Kek’s coloring brightened significantly.

“But I tells them no! It is theys who do not know galaxy. Theys is ones who stayed closed off, attacking before talking. And now? Now is times we need help. We cannot stops this on our own. And instead of having helps from neighbor systems and governments, we are now villains. Their… their… what is word… word for scared of other species that are not Vren…”

Hyrushi said “Xenophobia.”

Kek looked at him and nodded and said “Yes, their zzz… Zemno.... Zzzezo… what you said is now keeping us from being able to saves us! Younger Vren, majority, agree. Many older agree too. But some… who hases influences and power… they are blind. Old. Stuck in old ways of thinkings. They are problem.”

Kek’ anger was palpable, and she well understood that frustration. “Obviously, there is enough political will within the Senate to carry you all forward on this new path. It seems to me, and this is just me thinking aloud, that there won’t be much anyone can do to actively change their mind. The answer might be simply to move forward knowing that and let the hopefully positive results our interactions have speak for themselves. Perhaps those that aren’t convinced either way will see why these changes are best for your people after all.”

Kek nodded vigorously. “Yes yes yes yes. Exactly that. That is my reasoning exactly. We will do what is best for Vren and Vren-Federation relations and let the results do the changing of minds. Also, gives us concrete reasons to use against Cult. Some will refuse reality. They will simply not matter anymore. So yous sees… it is better for Vren on many layers if these discussions are successful.”

Jeanette smiled. “The Federation does aim to have peaceful relations with other groups whenever possible. I’m honoured to help navigate the way forward with you Ambassador Kek.” She looked to Hyrushi with a questioning look. They seemed to be all on the same page but she wanted to see if he had any more questions himself.

Hyrusho stood and said “Ambassador, there is only on question we have left, and it is a matter of utmost importance.” He put his hands behind his back and looked at the screen for a long moment.

“When will you arrive, sir? We are looking forward to commencing the talks as soon as possible.”

Kek nodded excitedly and said “Agreed. If you are ready, or wills be, I can begin preparations to leave immediately. Sos… three days to be prepares here, three days travel to your border, and two days to reach Oed. Eight days. Is that acceptable?”

Kek, Vren Ambassador

Hyrushi looked at Eela and Mathis. “I can see no reason why not. Ambassador? Lieutenant Governor Dasca? Any objections?”

Eela shook her head. “I can’t see any reason why that won’t work.” And it worked nicely that the Centurion was doing its extended training patrol before then as well. Overall, despite whatever emotions and old trauma they would need to deal with from their own populace, Eela felt an excitement that mirrored Kek’s.
