He flung his hand back as if her skin had burned him. “El…” he whispered. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean-”

She waved her hand, cutting him off. “I don’t give a shit what you meant! How dare you come into my home and try to make me feel like yet again I am the problem. Leave, Cory. And do not ever come back. We are done you and I. There is no space in my life for you anymore. Go before I have security escort you out,” she said, not even holding back her hostility.

“El, please. I know I crossed a line, but we have a family together-”

Always the excuses, always the reasons why she should give in and just go with it. Well, no bloody longer. Her rage was so intense at this man that she barely registered her hand wrapping around the vase of fresh flowers. “LEAVE!” she screamed. She threw the vase down on the floor between them, the glass and water scattering all over the foyer floor, shattering the last shred of care for the man she had spent so much of her life with.

~Eela & Cory

The door slid open and not two, but four CCDA officers in tactical gear walked in like they owned the place. One of them was a very large and menacing Cardassian known quite well to Eela- CCDA Senior Agent Hasid V’ter… who also happened to be one of the select few personally tasked with the Lieutenant Governor’s well-being. And someone she knew was not on duty right then.

The lift swished open and a very annoyed Jal’na stepped off the lift. This protection guard contingent thing was 2 days old and Jal’na was not happy. At least Herb, her Naussican guard was quiet and understood she had to protect her patients privacy. Which was why he and only he, so fat, was allowed to go with her. They had checked in downstairs and while they were in the lift, apparently all he’ll had broken lose. She didn’t even make it to the door before Herb slammed her up against the wall and stood in front of her like a brick wall and walked her backwards down the hall. She cursed and it made the man grin. “No Lady Jal’na you will stay right there.”

“Why?”

Because he was in charge of her safety. But he supposed he would explain before she took one of the weights in her bag and hit him with it. “There are four CCDA agents in full tactical gear. We will stay right here out of their way. If I say move you move.”

Cory backed off to the side, his shoes crunching on the wet glass. He had seen Eela angry but never like this before and the security was

Hasid ignored Cory as if he simply didn’t exist. “Ma’am. We heard a crash. Is everything alright?” He then looked at Cory and his face read plainly, as did the subdued anger wafting off of the Agent: Just say the word, and he leaves without the elevator.

Eela looked down at the glass scattered about her barefeet, confusion sweeping across her face. Words. She needed to say something. Swallowing, she drew in a steading breath, her face a mask. “No. everything is not alright. Please see that Mr. Fletcher is escorted from the building,” she said, her voice so much smaller and quieter than her anger said it should be. It was like the shout and breaking vase was all she had in this moment.

She gave her arm an absentminded rub and then looked down, the red marks of his fingers already speaking to the bruise that was likely to show up later. Eela remained exactly where she was, afraid to move, afraid to do anything else in this moment.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

V’ter looked at Eela’s arm and his jaw set. He looked at Cory and said very loudly “Mr. Fletcher. Your presence is no longer wanted on these premises. You have a choice. You may come with us, remain silent, and with your eyes on the floor until you are escorted off the premises and back to your hotel. Choice two is you can decide that today is the day you learn to fly. I assure you it is a pass-fail course. Think on that a moment.” He turned and looked at Dasca and took two steps forward. He leaned in and whispered “Ma’am, just say the word and we will remand him into custody for assault. This is not your doing nor is it improper to do so.He moved so his face was in her vision and he smiled slightly “Or just choose number two for him. I’m sure it will only take four or five tries to get him through the window.” and he winked.

Cory held up his hands slowly. I don’t want to cause anymore trouble. I’ll go with you.”

One of the other CCDA agents simply said “Yes, you will. One way or another.”

Her hazel eyes were so confused as she met Hasid’s gaze. A deep part of her wanted to laugh, to make a snide remark, but maybe later. Right now there were options before her. Could she really have him arrested? She thought of her children and what it would do to them. But… it wasn’t about them. It was about Eela, and her safety. If it had been anyone else she could have made a rational decision, but right now her head was muddled. Nothing made sense. All she could think was whether this had been inevitable all along. And if so, did that mean it could get worse? The divorce was supposed to give them both peace and permission to move on with their lives. Apparently Cory wasn’t capable. So what did that mean for her now? The flip-side was that if she had him arrested, there would be a court case and everyone would know her business. She wasn’t sure if she could bear that, not right now when she was dealing with the Vren and the fallout from the Starfleet scandal.

She whispered back, “I don’t want him harmed. But I don’t feel safe so long as he is on Oed. Just make sure he leaves the planet.”

“Of course, Lieutenant Governor.” Hasid said and he looked at the agents with him. “Take him. If he speaks, put him in restraints.” He looked back at Eela and whispered “Just say the word, Ma’am. At any time.” He set a hand lightly on her shoulder and then said “Let’s go.”

Her mind was slowly focusing now that she made that one decision, and it allowed her to remember that she was supposed to be getting for physio. She could sense the Klingon woman nearby too. “Jal’na?”

Jal’na shoved Herb out of the way and then man had the audacity to laugh. “Eela?” Jal’na stepped inside and took in the scene and the man. Her nostrils flared and a deep growl issued from her mouth and then she spit on the floor at his feet. She really was spending too much time with Urg. She moved past them over to Eela.

Hasid looked at the saliva on the floor and then at Cory. “Too bad. She missed your face.” he growled as they moved him to the elevator.

“Watch the glass,” she said, “There’s a broom in that closet to your left,” she said, crouching carefully to pick up the flowers that had once been in the vase.

“No, stand still.” She took her hands and helped her up. “You don’t want to bend over and lose your balance on the slick floor.” She hurried into the other room where she knew Eela left her shoes and came back and knelt down holding the shoes still for her. “Use my shoulders if you must.”

She stood, “I am going to move you out of this mess.” Jal’na was a lot stronger than she appeared, even for a Klingon. Not anywhere near the surprise that was her mate, but Jal’na lifted patients and held their weight many times. It was necessity. She put an arm on the woman’s waist away from the damage in her back and basically lifted and swung her slightly, a foot or so away from the glass and water. “Herb, will you please,” she pointed at the glass shards.

Jal’na walked Eela into the living area and then sat her down. Out of her bag came. PAdD, tricorder, and dermal regeneator. She took pictures of the marks, scanned the mark for damage and let the tricorder take a DNA sample. Then she healed it.
