She tipped her head back and closed her eyes as she chuckled, cautious not to spill her coffee. “I’ve concluded that there is a good possibility that I will make a fool of myself, but as you said, it is for charity and I’ve not done anything small professionally since I got here, so why not go big in my personal life as well? But you and I know how people operate too well. Even if this is just meant as a social outing people are bidding on, the optics for me personally will be a bit different and I’m not sure I want or need to discourage whatever gossip people walk away with. I don’t have the energy to fight it.”

Kenzo shrugged slightly and said “There comes a point in our careers where we have moments where me must just do for ourselves, and simply ignore the public’s opinion. But… when the bidding us happening, if you feel uncomfortable or need an escape, tap your right thigh with your little finger three times. I will ensure that the winning bid is mine and we will have a very public and professional lunch.”

Hyrushi, Governor

It could easily be embarrassing to need an out, but the thought of being put in a position she would have to suffer through was a bit too much. Even knowing what she knew about those that would be there, it was nice to know he had her back, just in case. She flashed him a grin. “And here I was offering a variety arts performance and dinner, but I suppose I could make do with lunch.” Her gratitude was immense though and she didn’t think she had to say more about it.

The lift to the floor opened and Mathis stepped out, seeming well at ease. She was at seemingly more relaxed than she had been on previous visits to his office. And she seemed to be sticking to something of a uniform with wide legged trousers in white, a navy blue tunic. It was paired with a long sleeveless jacket in white that was open cut and went to her ankles. Her pale blond hair was in its usual sleek twist at the back of her head.

Jeanette smiled as she approached Dorma’s desk. “Good morning. I have a meeting with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.”

The red headed Asian woman smiled and said “Of course, Madame Ambassador. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor are ready for you.” The doors to the office swung open,and Dorma gestured for her to enter.

Dorma Fen, Governor’s Aide

“Thank you,” Mathis said, giving Fen a gracious nod before moving towards the door.

Kenzo’s head turned as the doors opened. “And so it begins.” he said softly. He walked towards the door and put his hands behind his back.

Eela set her coffee on the table and stood.

As Mathis entered, Kenzo bowed. “Ambassador, welcome.” he said. He was dressed in a silk suit of deep, dark jade green. A black vest with a subdued gold pattern and matching tie sat atop a soft gold colored shirt. “Please be seated, won’t you? I believe we are ready to begin.”

“Perfect,” Jeannette said.

Dasca bowed her head. “Good morning,” she said warmly. He inclination was to use the woman’s first name since the two of them had crossed into that territory, but given the conversation about to occur and Kenzo’s greeting, she took her cue from him.

“Good morning,” Mathis said, returning the friendly smile. She really had wanted to attend last night but it had been actually for the best that she had stayed home with Ren and Jessie. From what Dash had said, it was a fun evening.

When everyone was set, he took a seat and they waited for the conference to start.

Eela connected wth Cort who had indeed sent the feed link and made sure the connection was still stable.

When Kek appeared, Mathis smiled at him. She felt they had established at last something of a rapport and it was oddly nice to see the excitable Vren again. “Ambassador Kek, it’s good to speak with you again. As you know we made our official statement to the citizens of Oed Five yesterday and we presented both your ritual of apology and the news of your gift. We’re still waiting to see how it will be received, but so far people do seem to be understanding of your situation, if understandable cautious.”
