Today Oed V was thrust into the galactic political arena as it was announced that the Federation and the Vren would begin diplomatic negotiations. In todays press conference it was started with a ceremonial apology from the Vren to the citizens of Oed V. Then Governor Kenzo B’tren-Hyrushi and Federation Ambassaador Jeannette Mathis requested of the citizens permission to hold the negotiations on Oed V; with explanations on what brought the sudden change in Vren and Federation relationship. The Vren home world is being threatened by a substantial disaster as the asteroid debris from a planetary explosion from a nearby system begins traveling between theirsun and home world of the Vren. This is apparently causing great ecological upheaval on their home world. There were images transmitted to Oed V and those in the press conference of this debris of asteroids. It was brought up that Q’onos had suffered a catastrophic explosion of their moon and the Klingon Empire’s home world did not suffer such upheaval of their ecological environment and a local astronomer also pointed out that Terra (Earth) only receives about 1 % of the Sols (the Sun) light. The Governor and Ambassador seemed to gloss over these facts of why the disaster is more serious to the Vren, stating that this situation with the Vren home world was not the equivalent of said disaster to Q’onos or even Terra (Earth) energy and ecological situations. At this time I, as a reporter, will reserve judgement on the ecological harm being done to the Vren home world till I have had a chance to speak with experts in Vren ecology, the Vren themselves, Planetary science and Astrophysics. There is an upside to this for the citizens of Oed V, the Vren apparently are providing a gift that will help with the terraforming efforts on Oed V exponentially. If this is true then the citizens of Oed V should not have an issue, in this reporters opinion, with allowing the Vren and Federation use Oed V as a meeting place to begin diplomatic negotiations.
