Mika smiled and shrugged. “Fun. Right.” Then she followed Sharah through the door. “What sort of thing are you looking for?” She asked Sharah as they headed inside. “Or are you more the browse and see what you find type?”

Sharah sighed, “I don’t know. Something that doesn’t scream ‘I’m Star Fleet.’ Also I suppose just jeans and a t-shirt isn’t quite nice enough.” And she was not wearing the dress she wore put with Charles and Yavia.

Mika grinned, “No, probably not. But I’m not into anything too girly, either.” No flowing gowns for her. It wasn’t her thing at all.

They made their way to the other ladies and Yavia looked up and made a beeline for her, slipped an arm around her waist and hugged her, then kissed her quickly. She laughed at Sharah’s expression. “We aren’t at work I can do that.” Then she turned to Mika, “I am so glad you made it. Sharah is really happy you are here.” She dragged both women into the ground and circle of chairs.

Eela took in the kiss and the emanating feelings between the two with a warm smile, if a little surprise. that had not come up in any of their recent discussions, except that Sharah had said she was really happy and had blushed at the mention of the special someone and that he had done the exercise with her that Sharah had Eela do. Interesting.

Sharah looked sheepish, but really happy as she cleared her throat and glanced at Eela. Mika had met Yavia when she arrived and Jal’na, well the whole medical team Sharah worked with knew.

Mika smiled, waving to everyone. “I’m glad to be here.” It was really the first thing outside of work she had done besides sulk in her own room.

Jal’na held out her hand, “You are the new counselor, yes? I am Jal’na,” she gave a brief pause where the empathy in the room would feel Jal’na’s curiosity and Mika would see it clearly in her face. “Jal’na, I am Jal’na. I am the head of Physical Therapy. I am sure we will work together a lot.”

“That’s me.” Mika shook her hand. “I’m sure we will. I’m usually pretty busy, you know where to find me if you ever need anything.” She felt just a bit out of place, but smiled anyway. She recognized Yavia, from the day she’d arrived. Eela, of course she recognized, so Jal’na was the only one she hadn’t met yet.

Battening down the hatches, as it were, as more people arrived, Eela gave Sharah and Tandra a wave, seeming a bit more subdued that Sharah had seen her recently. then again, Eela figured everyone would forgive her that under the circumstances.

Sharah gave Eela a gentle hug. Understanding and support swirling around the other woman. Then she grabbed a water and sat.

Turning in a slow circle, Dasca eyed the garments and felt a little overwhelmed, but it was more than that. There were tiny little decisions she’d have to make that would make a big difference when she appeared in person. “So I actually need two outfits. One for the auction, and a formal gown for another upcoming event. And I need all your opinions since you can actually weigh in here.” She tapped her fingers against her purple t-shirt, the tips thudding against her anti-grav brace. “Brace or no-brace for Saturday? Since we’re not modelling on stage, I’m less worried about tripping and falling on my face, but wearing it does change how I wear clothes.”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

“Brace.” Jal’na’s seat creaked as she turned to look at Eela and then glared at the others, daring them to defy her.

Sharah almost chocked on her water. “Well, you do have that follow up with Eraras soon. It would be a shame to ruin your hard work. And it will be a long day.”

“Ah, Eela, can I call you Eela? Wear whatever makes you happy, brace or no brace.” She pulled out a very slinky number. The material looked rather comfortable and had relaxed lines, but the skirt was long and playful. “Here try this on. You are the first volunteer.”

Jal’na

“I would go with it. Sharah’s right, it’s going to be a long day and I’m sure we can find something that looks good with it there.” Practicality over style in Mika’s eyes. That was evident from her style, though. Whenever she wasn’t on duty, she wore a comfortable casual shirt and some kind of comfortable pants, today it was a somewhat stylish black sweat pant.

Eela just shook her head and gave a long-suffering sigh. “Fine, I’ll wear the damn brace. All so practical, the lot of you, except you Yavia,” she said, waggling her index finger at the Deltan and flashing a grin. “This dress is most definitely not practical.” And it delighted her to no end, because at the end of the day people around here knew her as the Lieutenant Governor, who yes was wearing a lot more colour and pattern these days but who was still exceptionally professional. Except for that night at the speakeasy. That night had been a sliver of the real Eela Dasca and she loved that Yavia understood that even just a little.

Jal’na snorted, “It is a public event and should someone do something incredibly stupid your guards nor you want you without your brace.” She grinned wickedly, “And neither Sharah nor Yavia want to go home to a warrior as displeased as Major General Tenkiller would be.”

Yavia snickered, “Life is not worth it if everything is practical.” She looked at Jal’na, “You stop stirring the pot. It’s not me and Sharah that would have to worry. Brace or no brace, that’s on the CCDA guys.” She looked back at Eela, “Stick with me, I will get you in all kinds of trouble.”

She disappeared into the change room with her bag and the dress and came out a couple minutes later. Eela’s hair was down, cascading in soft waves about her shoulders, and the slinky silver material slid over her body so finely it felt like it had a mind of its own. There was no hiding her body with this dress and she was perfectly okay with that. Forty years of Starfleet physical training did not disappear over night, and what she had lost, Jal’na had been helping her recover in strength and flexibility. What weight she had gained since leaving service now filled out her curves rather nicely.

Eela wouldn’t dare wear heels too high. Five to six centimetres was her limit for stability, but it was enough to force her to move mindfully. The brace was noticeable under the thin fabric, but honestly Eela was more distracted by how much of her legs were showing. Moving out into the group, she did a slow turn and studied herself in the mirror, rather in shock. It had bene a really long time since se felt beautiful but it was like for a moment she could set the last six years aside for a time. That the layers of clothing she usually worse represented her own inner layers and being pared back to so little was its own revelation. “I’m imagining the looks on people’s faces if I wore this to the office.” she said breaking into a laugh. “I haven’t worn something like this since R&R ten yeas ago on Risa,” she added, waggling her brows.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Jal’na nodded, “It suits you, Eela. You will be quite distracting.”

Sharah felt Eela’s stun and pleasure over it. “I think you need that dress no matter what. Your brace show some but it does not take away from all,” she waved a hand the motioned to all of Eela, “of that. Cort will have my head.”

Yavia

“I don’t think I’d notice the brace at all if I weren’t looking for it,” Mika commented, smiling. “It looks lovely.”
