Sharah really laughed then, but there was a wealth of understanding in her gaze. She was quite well aware of all that going on. “If we didn’thave someone from the CCDA peeking in, I think we would all start jumping at shadows. We are going to the Mad Market to eat, and visiting both The Striped Temple Outfitter and The Defiant Mirror. The group will co sist of my self and Ms Dasca, Yavia Crockett, Jal’na Sherko, and Lt Tandra Mika. I believe everyone except Tandra has already been vetted by CCDA.” Sharah smiled again, “Thank you for your help Mr Belanger. See you Sat.”

Cort made notes of the locations and people and didn’t foresee any issues. He offered her a warm smile. “See you then, Doctor.” He dropped his voice so only she could hear. “And for what’s worth, I’m really glad she had you. Seeing her walk in with that plant? I haven’t seen her look so delighted since she arrived.”

Sharah smiled, “I deeply believe that surrounding ourselves by living things, that exsist so simply, helps put things into perspective. It also brings joy. Oh and fair warning, that plant…is different. I’ll let the Lt Gov explain.” Sharah waved as she left his office. The pastries she sent were not going to be enough. Cort was a delight and Eela being his boss or not he cared deeply about Eela. Sharah liked him. Those that took care of others deserved to be cared for in return. Much like Ms Fen.

Cort waved and chuckled as she left the office. An odd plant was the least of his concerns but he was most definitely intrigued. He slipped into Eela’s office and she caught him up on the shenanigans and introduced him to the fascinating plant. He in turn explained the schedule changes (which fell under the ones she had told him were fine to touch- there were some that were not). Eela more or less had anticipated them all, except for the cancellation of her physio. She wasn’t gong to lie and say she was sad about that, but she also knew she’d have to pause and do a lot of stretching over the day, or the next day would be terrible.

Eela went back to work and delved into reports, and proposals. There were more meetings to schedule, including a couple that had been put off for way too long but couldn’t be helped.

About an hour before the end of the normal day, one Ms Alice Shrine made her way to the Lt Gov’s floor of the government tower. She was an older woman who wore her age with pride and no nonsense. She approached the desk and the young woman there. “Hello, dear. My name is Alice Shrine. I have a meeting with Lt Gov Dasca about the hospital fund raiser.”

Shrine

The purple-haired Napean smiled. “Of course, she’s expecting you,” Sreer said, rising and leading Shrine to Dasca’s door. She knocked, opened the door and smiled. “Alice Shrine to see you, ma’am.”

“Thank you, Elema,” Dasca said with a warm smile as she tapped a couple keys and turned off her screen, pushed herself to her feet and moved around the desk.
“Do you want me to order for you?” the assistant said.
Eela nodded. “In about half an hour, before you head out is fine.”
“Okay.” Elema gave Shrine a bow of her head and stepped back out of the office, closing the door behind her.

In the spacious office, there was little sign that Dasca intended to be packing up to go home any time soon: an assortment of padds sorted into piles on the desk, a half-filled glass of water, an empty plate that held crumbs from one of the pastries from Sharah that Cort insisted on sharing (despite her protests that they were for them). But several hours into her mountain of work and it was admittedly nice to have break from it all. Her blazer was draped on the back of her chair, and she had taken the clawed clip out of her hair ages ago.

With a fluid gesture towards the sitting area, Eela smiled. “It’s nice to see you again Nurse Shrine. Come, let’s sit and talk and you can explain more about this auction that Sharah was telling me about.”
