(snip)

A flurry of thoughts hit her brain and for a moment Eela just had to take a breath. It wasn’t a bad idea, but these days she couldn’t just go whenever she wanted without any consideration. Knowledge of the lecture she’d have to endure later if she did that was enough to make her rethink just saying a blanket ‘yes’ to Duroc. She reached out and touched his arm briefly. “Lord Duroc, I don’t mind the offer but my security detail would probably take exception to me disappearing anywhere. But, a simple concession would be for one of your guards to go out and ask one of mine to come in and accompany me. Sound fair?” she said. If she could save the flight time to the Complex, it would actually allow her the chance to talk to Cattaneo before he acted on the warrant. It wasn’t about not trusting Cattaneo, but being ultimately responsible for how these events turned out. Good or bad, it was on her as Commander-in-Chief.

Urg waved off her concern and keyed his comms at the desk. =/\= mInDaj ngejmoHbej! =/\= (Bring in the Captain’s Security detail!) he barked. He looked at Dasca and said “Come. They are on their way.” and he led her out of the office.

Shaking her head, Dasca fell in step with the Klingon, musing how visits here would likely never be dull.

As they approached the door opposite Lord Duroc’s office, the doors at the end of the hall opened and her security team almost rushed in, but were held back the House guards. Urg motioned them forward and bellowed “She’s fine! But you are in a hurry ! Move your scrawny little legs!” down the hall. In a few moments she had her team and they entered the far door and hallway beyond.

Eela gave the agents an apologetic look that said she’d explain later. At least they were quick on the mark, she had to give them that.

A flight of stairs down led to another long hallway and he brought them to the transporter room. He looked at Dasca and said “Wherever you need to go, tell them and you will go. And you owe me a dinner. You and that aloof Governor of yours. Now go! Don’t wait for justice.”

Urg, Lord Duroc

“I owe you dinner?” Eela said as she stepped onto the transporter. She snorted and shot him an amused look. “In any case, let us hope the next time we see each other, it’s less of a life and death situation, hmm?”

Turning to the transporter operator she said, “Starfleet Complex, Main Wing. Use Priority Code Delta-Two-Pi-Six. They’ll know it’s me.” It was a one-time code they scrapped after use so that no one could abuse it and it also changed regularly even if she didn’t use it. Looking back to Lord Duroc, she grinned and simply nodded before she disappeared in a swirl of light.

Urg watched her dissappear and then turned and walked out. He went further down the hall to the far end. On a seemingly blank wall, he placed his hand in an innocuous spot and a scan ran over his palm and a door slid open.

Inside was a single Vulcan. She rose as he entered the room filled with communications and surveillance equipment. Displays showed dozens, maybe hundreds, of locations. “My Lord?” she asked. “Contact our Star Fleet hand at the complex. Tell them to keep an eye on the Lieutenant Governor. If anyone moves against her, they will bring me their head.” The Vulcan nodded and turned to the equipment. “It shall be relayed, Lord Duroc.” Urg turned and left the room without a word.
