I will have the proposal to in the next two days.” Fayth considered a moment. “No Sir, there is nothing else. Unless you want to get your physical and medical clearance out of the way while I am here?”

Fayth, SFCMO

He flashed a grin. “I haven’t forgotten, promise, it’s just been a whirlwind. But sure, we can do that. First aid room good enough or is there a better place?” In his pilot days, sure he had been a little skittish about physicals but that had long worn off.

Fayth grinned, “Oh I know. Arrival on Oed is not like other postings.” Fayth stood, “but that’s why we make house calls. Helps relieve some of the whirlwind. First aid station will work, and be faster than having you come to the hospital and have to wait.”

Fayth, SFCMO

“Well, you’re much kinder about it than most medical officers are,” Jonathan said with a chuckle. He rose and gestured to the door, leading her out. The first aid room was down towards the central and communal area of the compound and it wasn’t all that far from his office.

Poking his head in, the captain saw it was empty. “Good, no witnesses,” he joked before hopping up on the lone biobed.

Fayth laughed softly and reached down and flipped the switch fir the biobed and pulled the tricorder out of the pocket of her lab coat. She flipped it open and pulled out the hand scanner. “Any problems or concerns?”

Fayth, SFCMO

“Nah, not really. Other than a bit of fatigue from the travel here and getting settled. But my sleep seems to be settling so I’ve not been overly worried. My left shoulder gives me trouble here and there from when I injured it several years ago, but that is rare and it’s been a few months since I’ve had any issue. Notice it if I’m overworking it for whatever reason, but day-to-day it’s fine.” And indeed there was some scar tissue present from a rather serious injury that normally would have been dealt with through the tissue regeneration process but without digging into his file, it wasn’t obvious why that wasn’t done. Other than that and the obvious signs that he was running a bit low on energy at the moment, McBride was in excellent health.

Sharah nodded as she finished the scan. “You look fine to me. If you decide to do something about your shoulder, some PT might help. Stretch and reteach that tissue, get blood flowing though it again, and that may help.” She turned to the computer terminal in the small first aid station and logged in, pulling up his file and inputting his scans and clearing him for duty. “However, I would recommend a good night’s sleep tonight or the fatigue is going to start showing.”

Fayth, SFCMO

“Yes, Mom,” he said with a cheeky grin. “But seriously, I hear you and I’m trying. I’m not only trying to get settled in here, but I’m trying to lift the load off of Dasca’s shoulders, and I think we both agree that that is a worthy cause.” Goodness knew too much had landed on the Lieutenant Governor’s desk from even before Dasca arrived when there had been a gap in the CO’s position. Too many little things had fallen through the cracks and they were scrambling to find both the lost items and the cracks. It was daunting work that most people weren’t even aware of.

Sharah smirked, “More like annoying baby sister.” Her tricorder disappeared into her pocket, “Oh yes I am quite well acquainted with Dasca’s stubbornness. I wish you luck with that, especially if you aren’t setting the example as well.” She leaned back against the wall. “We’ve all been there. Oed forces you to hit the ground running, but in a couple weeks, start forcing yourself to take a break. If you don’t, you never will. So much got missed or ignored due to lack of consistent leadership, and Oed is never quiet. If you wait for things to calm down, you’ll always be waiting.” She stood up straight. “If you need anything from me or the medical staff, just let us know.”

Fayth, SFCMO

Jonathan offered a warm smile. “I appreciate that, and the advice. I promise I’ll actually shut off work this evening and get some sleep.” He slipped off the biobed. “Well, I’m sure you have enough on your plate as well. Onwards and upwards, Lieutenant,” he said, gesturing towards the door so they could both leave.
