And Today's Specials Are...

Posted by Civilian Yavia Crockett (Nurse - Sacred Heart Hospital) in And Today’s Specials Are…
Shrine was on a mission! She bustled around the hospital corning anyone and everyone that was on her list. Shrine was in charge of Sacred Heart’s yearly charity event. Every year it was a massive headache, but worth it. This year they were raising money and other donations for the care of the refugees that were arriving in masses to Oed every day. This year Shrine was certain she had a winning idea. And it was all thanks to Major General Tenkiller. That little show at the speakeasy drew a lot of attention to the nurses in attendance, and that’s how Shrine got the idea. She cackled loudly at that. The aging nurse got several odd looks and people had learned in the last 3 days to give her lots of room. It was charity season and she was on a mission and taking prisoners.

Her last had been Jal’na. Oh yes, Jal’na was going to participate. Not much rattled the Klingon PT, but Shrine…well Shrine was unique and could sour blood wine with a look. Jal’na wasn’t even sure what she agreed to, but she just agreed to avoid Shrine’s wrath. Shrine just had to find the last two victims participants on her list. Dr Fayth and Yavia Crockett. Luckily for her she knew where to find them.

It was after shift change and that meant they would be in Sharah’s office on the 4th floor and heading for the car that was always waiting for them. Well they might just miss their ride if they didn’t agree. Shrine cackled again and stepped off the lift stopping in front of the SFCMO’s office.

The door opened and Yavia came to an abrupt halt. “Shrine!” She blinked, “is everything okay?” She backed up as the formidable woman strode her way into the office. “I’m here about the charity.”

Shrine

Sharah looked up from her desk and gaped. “No....” Whether Shrine meant for it to or not, her thoughts were clear and concise for Sharah.

Shrine grinned, “Yes. Both of you.” Yavia looked from one to the other. She could feel Sharah’s trepidation and Shrine’s determination and absolute glee. Shrine looked at Yavia. “You are going to help raise quite a bit of awareness for our refugee issue. The auction will be in 2 weeks.”

Yavia’s brows drew together, “Auction?” Sharah looked…uncomfortable.

“Yep,” Shrine grinned, “Bachelorette Auction. Highest bidder gets a dinner date. Or lunch or whatever.” Shrine stood in front of the door arms crossed, “Our chief of staff and our top nurse will be participating, correct?”

Sharah did not want to participate in anything with that many people. Nope, not at all. Yavia laughed, “I’m game. Sure, I’ll do it. Should be fun for an evening. I’ll even dress up.” Yavia wasn’t quite sure how it would go, but she wasn’t too worried. She’d been on bad dates before what was one more? Especially if it helped. Sharah on the other hand felt ill to Yavia.

Shrine smiled at Yavia, “Okay Dr Fayth, you too.” She could tell Fayth didn’t like the idea at all. She glanced between both woman. “I mean I am certain General Tenkiller will be most happy to give a nice donation in both your names. No need to worry, right? It sets a good example for the rest of the staff and will help place Star Fleet into a better light. Participating in such an endeavor to help the colony.”

Shara’s mouth opened and shut three times. Did…did Shrine just…just manipulate....yes…yes she did. Sharah sighed. “Yes, yes fine. We’ll both be there.” Shrine grinned and laughed the whole way back to her desk.

Sharah stared at Yavia, “This is not going to end well is it?” With hesitant laughter they left Sharah’s office and made their way to the waiting car, and once inside, Sharah shuddered. She hated public events.
