He nodded and said “I believe so, yes.” and he stood and said “Madame Ambassador. Mr. Jones. Welcome to Oed V. I look forward to working with you.” and he shook each hand in turn. He turned to Eela and said “We have our next meeting in twenty minutes.” and his eyes flicked to the spot where the connection between Governor and Lieutenant Governor’s offices was hidden.

Mathis and Jones both shook his hand, and even Jeanette offered a warm smile.

Eela gave a subtle half-nod of her head.

He walked the group to the door and bowed slightly as they left. As they walked through the reception area, Hyrushi said “Ms. Fen, please send the Ambassador a list of your recommendations for dining. And contact the Star Fleet Security office and inform them of the Ambasaador’s arrival. Thank you.”

Dorma inclined her head and said “Of course, Governor. Right away.” As the doors closed as Hyrushi returned to his office, Dorma tapped a few commands and then looked at Mathis. “The list is in your comms, Ambassador.” Her comms chirped and she tapped her earpiece. “Yes, sir? … Of course. … Yes, sir. Right away.” Shevtapped the device again and looked at the assembled individuals. “Will there be anything else today?”

“No, thank you Ms. Fen, I appreciate your assistance,” Jeannette said.

“Till next time,” Dashiel chimed in, an ever so slight smirk touching his lips. After their little banter when they arrived, he suspected interactions with the assistant would be rather interesting. And probably fun. But his attention right now was on Jean and also a woman he’d been very much looking forward to getting to talk with.

Eela gestured towards the lift and headed for her office.

They followed Dasca down a level to her office and she introduced them to Cort and Elema. Dash and Cort gave each other a knowing look and the two knew there would lots to chat about later given how closely their bosses would be working.

Mathis herself was taking in everything. Stepping into Eela’s office, she couldn’t help but smile. “This is a lovely space. I’ve always thought if you have to be in an office all the time, it’s nice to have a comfortable place with something lovely to look at.”

“Indeed. I miss having a starscape, but this definitely makes up for it,” Dasca said with a smile. “You wanted to chat?” she said, gesturing to her seating area.

Mathis gave Dashiel a significant look and he simply bowed his head to them both and moved to the door. “I have a couple things to discuss with Mr. Belanger. I’ll be out there if you need me.”

Alone with the woman she’d be working closely with, Jeanette sighed. “I owe you a personal apology…”

Ten minutes later, the two women stepped with relaxed smiles. Dash, Cort and Elema had been having a nice chat themselves and all three assistants could tell that whatever the two had discussed had left both in an agreeable mood.

“You ready to go?” Jeanette said to Dash. “Don’t want you getting lost to your new place.”

Jones snorted. “I’m sure I’d be okay, but yes, I’ll get a ride with you.” He turned to Elema and Cort and gave them a warm smile. “I look forward to talking more.”

“Same,” Cort replied and Elema gave him a smile and nod of her head.

Dash reached out and offered his hand to Dasca. “Ma’am, It was love to meet you. Hopefully at some point you’ll allow me to ask a few questions about your time in the Corps. There are a couple things in particular I’m intrigued about.”

She took his hand and gave him an amused smile. “Oh? Like?”

“Ruka Three. I have to know how you managed it. The report was… lacking,” he said, his intense blue eyes lighting up as he grinned at her.

Eela barked a laugh, throwing her head back slightly. “Oh… I don’t know. That’s a secret.”

“Shame. I feel like it would be good research for future diplomatic endeavours,” he said.

She just grinned back. “At least for the moment, all I can say is… if you know, you know.” Eela just gazed at him intently for a moment and she could tell through his eyes he was trying to piece together her cryptic response.

“Fair enough,” Dash said with a slight shake of his head.

Eela gave him a wink and turned to Mathis. “Jeannette,” she said with a bow of her head. “I hope you and your family settle in alright. We’ll meet in the morning?”

“Eela,” Mathis said with a warm smile. “We’ll be by at oh nine hundred,” she added tossing a glance to Jones so he would know he was a part of that plan.

“Alright then.”

The group broke up and Mathis and Jones headed back downstairs. Tomorrow, Dasca would show them the floor where their temporary offices were, but right now she acknowledged her assistants and slipped back into her office. Unbeknownst to all but one person in the entire building her security clearance also allowed her to open a very special door. She slipped through it and a minute later gave a knock on the other door, more as a warning than anything. He’d told her to come, after all. Ten seconds passed and then she stepped into Kenzo’s office seeming in a much lighter mood.
