IC: Within the confines of his new office, Nathan Carlisle was leaning back in his chair having already read and replied to responses to his invite for the dig. He had requisitioned proper equipment, and still needed to do some detailed recording of some new artifacts that had been found. However, as he was about to stand up, a knock resounded on his door. As any proper gentleman should, he moved to open the door.

“Ah, hello there,” he said with a kind smile. “How can I help you?”

The brunette at his door smiled. “Hello, Professor! I’m Kristina Cosgrove. I’m going to be starting classes soon here and I saw your message about the archaeology dig. I’m not an archaeology student but I need a lab credit for my science requirement and this expedition sounds fascinating. Would this count?” she asked, unable to hide her excitement. Kristina wasn’t a fresh to university youth either, but she was still quite young having turned thirty earlier this year.

Nathan grinned and welcomed her inside for a moment. “Of course Miss Cosgrove, this can apply to it. Its nice to see someone enthused about going to a dig.” he said with a light laugh. “I’ve gotten messages from people interested, but it’s nice to get an in person inquiry as well. Anything in particular about it that caught your interest?”

Cosgrove stepped inside. “Mostly it’s the possibilities for the unexpected. Who knows what we could find out there. I love a little adventure. Admittedly, I’m not going to be majoring in archaeology- this is one of my electives- but I find history fascinating. There’s lots you can learn by looking at the past.”

Nathan smiled. “You’re absolutely right. Without a look back through history, many are bound to repeat what once was. It’s ok if you don’t specialize in archaeology. It’s not for everyone admittedly. So, what is it that you are majoring in?” His demeanor was friendly and open to her as he allowed his empathic senses to passively note her.
