The injured had been brought in by emergency point-to-point transport their injuries were so severe. Multiple lacerations, broken bones, and a jagged piece of deuterium sticking out from between two ribs. The fact that the patient, an Antican female, was still conscious was almost a miracle. The fact that she was dressed in the armor of a Klingon was just plain weird. As she was brought towards the OR, they began to try and cut away the armor and she growled at the attending. “You will NEVER cut my armor from me! I will die before I allow-” and a thunderous voice cut her off. “You will allow them to do whatever they need to!” The speaker was the largest and scariest looking Klingon any of the staff had ever seen. Standing well over seven feet tall and carrying more muscles than most Star Fleet Security teams, the figure strode into the hallway as if they owned the entire building. Scars of many violent encounters showed on the exposed parts of his body, and his black hair hung in a long braid down his back. His facial hair was similarly braided and has bits of… things… woven into it. As he got to the stretcher he laid a hand, surprisingly gently, on the chest of the Antican woman. “You serve House Duroc with honor… but we do not throw away one another for such things as armor. Armor can be made again. You are what matters. Now let them treat you, and do what they say. I will be beside you when you wake.” He looked at one of the doctors standing there with a hypo and said “Make sure she is comfortable and taken well care of. Nothing else matters.” His voice was a low rumble of distant storms, but the concern in the eyes of his scarred face was genuine. It was the next day after the patient arrived. A marathon fourteen hour surgery had been done to save the woman, but save her they did. She lay in a bed in the ICU, monitors and displays keeping the staff informed of her condition. It was then that doors opened and were filled by the hulking figure of the day before. “I want to see her.” they said with a growl. A member of the hospital administration said “I understand, Lord Duroc, but the ICU is off limits to anyone except family!” The hand that grabbed the administrator was massive, and deceptively fast. In less than a heartbeat, the man’s feet were off the ground and his face brought close to the battle-worn visage of Urg’tohn, Lord of House Duroc and Chosen of Kvaar’ton. “She. Is. My. Family. You. Worm.” he said in a way that seemed to have the effect of loosening the administrator’s control of his bladder. Urg dropped him and walked up to the nurse’s station. “I wish to see Neela Vens… please.” The administrator, from his position in the now wet floor, mouthed Call security!!
Urg, Lord Duroc
The commotion drew the attention of anyone and everyone in passing and one particular person. A klingon woman with dark aburn hair with natural red highlights, left down except on the side by pins. Her brown eyes flashed as she approached. She was wearing practical clothing for exercising all day with the Sacred Heart emblem on the chest of her vest opposite a house emblem. She strode over, she was exceptionally fit and lithe, and with one hand lifted the man to his feet. Without a word she moved behind the desk and looked at the screen. “No.” She looked up at him. “The doctors are with her, checking her after the surgery and the room is quite full. 15 minutes, and I will personally take you to her room.” She set a bioscanner in front of him. “After we have verified your identity, per hospital protocols. You did demand we make sure she is comfortable and taken well care of.”
Dr. Jal’na Sherko
Urg looked over and saw her room. “There is no one with her. And I promised her I would be there when she awoke. But I understand the need to veflrify.” and a fist slammed down onto biscanner, smashing it into dozens of pieces. “There. I may have missed a bit on the signature.” He looked at the Klingon woman and said “If you want to stop me, shoot me. But I wouldn’t recommend it.” and he turned and walked into the room and sat down next to the Antican and just watched.
Urg, Lord Duroc
“Screw security, get CCDA.” The charge nurse nodded and made the page.
Jal’na walked into the room got right un hisnface and snarled. “Out you worthless rock. Wrong patient. The room you want is over there.” And she pointed to the next room. Which was full of doctors and the woman he was looking for. “And you will pay for the damage.”
Jal’na
Urg looked at the patient, looked at the annoying woman, then leaned back and said “I am here for her. You want me to move… move me yourself. And call your CCDA… I’ll be right here when they arrive.”
And arrive they did. Two CCDA Agents walked onto the ward. One, a large Bolian; the other a human woman. After a brief conference with the charge nurse, they walked to the room where the two Klingons were having a staring contest… and the woman cussed under her breath. “Uh… Doctor? A word?” and she gestured to just outside the room.
Urg, Lord Duroc
“If you are about to tell me this is Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc, of the House of Duroc watched over by Kvaar’ton, every child on Oed knows that. If you are about to tell me that he an ambassador and has some cowards excuse to get away with such childish behavior, save it and get out.” She folder her arms and stood there, “I am not leaving until he gives me a legitimate reason for being in this room.”
And it was at that moment the little paper pusher appeared at the door in an angry high pitched voice only a paper pusher could achieve, “He isn’t…!”
Jal’na snapped her fingers in the man’s direction. “Shut your trap. You haven’t been on Oed long but I know you have been told, family is more than blood. Go before you make more of a fool of yourself.”
Jal’na
Lord Duroc’s eyes never left the woman’s face, but he said quite firmly “I have no conflict with the CCDA. You can leave now and it will stay that way.” The Agent looked at Jal’na and said “I’ll go call the Major General.” As they turned to leave, Urg said “And close the door!” and they pressed the control and slid the transparent door closed.
“Now then, Doctor is it? Now then Doctor… you demand a reason why I am here and not across the ward with the member of my House.” He reached out and gently took the woman’s hand. “Very well… twenty two hours ago an assassin tried to kill me. We were ambushed by four armed figures in the Oed Industrial Park. Shots were exchanged, and one threw a photon grenade at my ground car. It exploded.” He nodded slightly to the other room where the House Duroc guard was being treated. “She tackled me and took the brunt of the blast. It threw her over twenty meters across the parking lot. She saved my life.” He took a deep breath.
“This one… she was simply walking home after work. She was no one to me, yet here she is… because of me.” He looked up at Jal’na. “I carried her to the med shuttle and came here with her. She was not awake, but I promised her I would be here when she woke… so I could beg for her forgiveness.” He looked back down at her. “And here I will stay until she wakes.”
