Kenzo inclined his head in acceptance of the compliment. “I have much more hope for the future, now that you are part of the colony. I trust you will do yourself proud. And in doing so, we will all be better for it.”

Kenzo

The smile that spread across her face and lit up her eyes was warm and delighted. She lifted her tea cup in a final toast and tipped back the last sip before setting down the cup. A tiny content sigh escaped her lips as she pulled herself out of the corner of the rather comfy sitting area. She had no idea what time of night it was but the sky told her it was probably mid evening. Not too late but also it had been long enough that she felt like they had had a decent chance to get to know one another better as intended. All in all, Eela felt it had been a successful dinner. She stood and waited for him to do so as well before moving back through the kitchen and down the hall past the gallery of photos to the foyer.

Taking the cue, he stood and followed her down the hall. He retrieved his coat and put it on,ensuring his hair fell outside.

“Next time, it’ll be your turn. I’m curious to see your sushi efforts,” she said. It wasn’t something she knew how to make, so it would be a nice change. Besides, it had been awhile since she had had decent sushi.

“An acceptable repayment for such a pleasant evening.” Kenzo said and bowed to his host. “Perhaps this should be a regular occurrence. Every other week. It will provide us with both an opportunity to discuss matters we need to outside of the office… as well as ensure we have some much needed recreational time.” He gave her a small smile and then stepped towards the door. “I look forward to that. Let me know what evening works best for you. Good evening, Eela. Thank you.”

Kenzo

“You’re very welcome, Kenzo. Have a good night and I’ll make Cort book me time off for dinner.”

Once he had left, she closed the door and stood there grinning. She spun in a circle, letting herself exhale. Success! And in a far more subtle way. Kenzo was a difficult man to get to know, with a wall that was hard to penetrate. And she couldn’t say exactly at one point she might have dented it a little, but she felt like the more he could be open with and to her, the more they would be successful as a team. And to be honest she needed Kenzo. He could help carve a path for her here that would on her own be far more difficult. People trusted him. If he too trusted her, people on the whole would be more likely to give her some leeway ad grace to find her place here. And for the first time in a very long time she wanted something with the whole of her being.
