Oed V
New Assignment, Oed V
Carsyn Kolchak sat across from her Assignment Editor (Boss) Samuel Oedkoven. She looked at the partially balding man and his outdated mustache. “You brought this on yourself Carsyn. That last article on Starfleet has set off a firestorm.” he stated. Carsyn laughed “It was you that assigned me to the story to dig up possible nepotism by Starfleet Admiralty and how they distribute materials for building spaceships, shuttles, and fighters. It isn’t my fault that Vice Admiral Aaron Lantz was in charge of that department. Nor was it my fault his wife Colonel Diana Lantz, of Starfleet Starfighter Corps was having an affair with another woman who happened to be her subordinate. Finally, it most definitely was not my fault that the Vice Admiral got his clock wrung when he confronted Major Zephyrine Bolt about her affair with his wife. I just reported the facts.” Oedkoven sat back in his chair and sighed “No. you did your usual due diligence, including following Vice Admiral Lantz to the bar where he confronted Major Bolt, who then proceeded to knock him unconscious. You even got the holo video of it.” he smiled when he said that. “It was a hell of a scoop. Still, it will do you some good to get back out there and report on the happenings on the frontier. Plus, there is the advantage of you being Lead Reporter and acting Assignment Editor. You would be setting up the office for FNN on Oed V and have the ability to report on whatever you think may be important. Only one you would file your reports to or answer to is me.” he said, trying to put a good spin on the developments of her new assignment. Carsyn also sat back, sighed in defeat “Higher ups have already decided, haven’t they?” she inquired. “Yes. I also think it will do you some good, get back out there, you need to start living again, you haven’t been yourself since Rowan passed away. FNN has already purchased a building to set up in, the equipment is already packed, and we have also got you a lease, under FNN, to a three-bedroom apartment.” he said sliding over a PaDD with all the details. “Good luck and contact me once you get there.” with that he turned his attention to his computer terminal. Years of working for the man had taught Carsyn when she had been dismissed. There was nothing left to do but go and pack her things.
