When Aiofemi woke up she started her day with the same routine as she’d done when she was a Starfleet officer. This comprised of going for a morning run, but instead of in a Holosuite programmed park, she was able to run in an actual nearby park. After her morning workout, she came back to her hotel, ordered, and ate a Jibalian omelet with a cup of Janaran tea for breakfast, then contacted Mikah for her daily agenda. Once she had thoroughly reviewed the agenda, she got dressed. It was a little strange not putting on a Starfleet uniform, she could now go to work dressed in civilian clothes. After thirty minutes of trying on and rejecting various combinations of clothing, she finally decided on a black pencil skirt, which she paired with a black Tholian silk chemise and a navy modern V-shaped leather short jacket with stiff shoulder paddings. She adorned her ears with large silver hoop earrings. Her hair which she had always been pulled back in a low braided bun was now allowed to hang without restrictions. She parted it on the left, flattened it, something she had not done in years and was surprised when it reached well past her shoulders down to her elbows. A light bulb went off in her mind and she quickly exited the bathroom, ran to her bedroom, sorted through her luggage, pulled out a black beret then placed it on her straightened hair. Ai ran back to the bathroom, stood in front of the mirror, and took a good long look at herself, wondering if there were any makeup studios on the planet. Ai tapped the intercom on her futuristic smart mirror then said, “Mikah, hon, when you get an opportunity, will you forward a directory of all the shops in the colony to my PaDD?”
Almost immediately Mikah replied, “Yes, Ai. You will have it within the next hour.”
“Thank you, Mimi, you are awesome,” Ai said with a fond smile.
“You know it! That’s why you hired me before you even officially got the job,” Mikah teased with a high-energy jovial tone.
Ai smiled and then shook her head as she focused her attention back on her reflection in the mirror. She placed her ring finger and her middle finger on the bridge of her nose and trace it rubbing them over the sporadic dark brown freckles that lined it. Those blemishes had not always been there, they had just appeared within the last three years of her life and were the only things that were obstructing her otherwise smooth caramel complexion which looked much lighter, now because of the lighting from the mirror and her midnight black sleek hair framed each side of her face.As Aiofemi exited the hover Uber, a gust of the extraterrestrial wind blew her beret off her head and her hair lost its mind, blowing all over her head, and temporarily blocking her vision. A Vorta woman passing by quickly retrieved her beret and held it out to her as she stumbled a bit to keep her footing in her calf-length black platform boots. “Ah. Thank you!” Ai said as she gratefully took the beret from the woman, smoothed her hair, and placed it back on her head. “That was unexpec……….”, she started to try to make conversation, but after the Vorta woman passed her the beret back to her, she took off, “Oh…um…thank you!” Ai called after her, but there was no use, the woman was on a mission and had seemingly done her good deed for the day. Welcome to Oed, Ai. She thought to herself as she adjusted her Gorn leather tote bag on her shoulder and briefly looked up at the tall governmental office building she stood in front of. Aiofemi opened her communicator and said, “Mikah, I believe I have arrived. I take it the Lt. Governor is expecting me?”
Ai Oshiro, Dir. Med. & Soc. Svcs.
Mikah’s voice chimed in over the communicator, “Yes, she is. I have sent the instructions to your PaDD. Just so you know, you must be cleared by security, because I don’t know if you know this… but I read up on the history of this colony here and…. there have been several Governors and Lt. Governors that have been assassinated in this colony. So… yeah… you know you might want to watch your back when you are around her. You might be in for a deadly encounter.” Ai could hear the laughter in Mikah’s voice. “Also, you will need to check in with her assistant, Elema Seer. Gosh, I hope I said that right. Don’t say her name as I just said it…. just in case I pronounced it wrong. Let me know if you need anything else. Mikah out.”
Mikah Jaxsyn, Admin Assist Med. & Soc. Svcs.
Aiofemi rolled her eyes and shook her head, thinking she should have made Mikah accompany her to this meeting, and wondered how funny she thought it would be then. She was not worried about getting caught up in an assassination attempt, only concerned about making a good first impression. As she entered the building and walked to the front desk, she briefly shuffled through her bag, pulled out a PaDD and sped read through Mikah’s instructions. “Good morning. My assistant informed me that I was to stop here to get a security pass. I have a meeting with the Lt. Governor, Eela Dasca, I believe she is expecting me. My name is Dr. Aiofemi Oshiro, and I guess this is my first day as the Director of Medical and Social Services for this lovely colony.” The words came quickly out of her mouth as she craned her neck to look at the contents on the front desk employee’s workstation.
Ai Oshiro, Dir. Med. & Soc. Svcs.
The receptionist at the moment was a Caitian female with golden fur with subtle white markings. She looked up and blinked golden eyes. “I see, hold on one moment,” she said as she turned to her attention to a screen. The desk space below was exceptionally tidy and only had the computer terminals and a small storage unit tucked underneath the the ledge that Ohsiro rested on. The Caitian worked at the computer and bragged something from the ledge, pressing it to a small scanner before handing a round chip it to Aiofemi. “This is your security pass for this building. As a member of the cabinet you will be able to come and go from the building as you need to and access any floor. Though both the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor’s floors both require your pass in the lift in order to be cleared to go up. Any guests you have wth you at the building that don’t work here must get a visitor’s pass here first. You will need to pass through security-“she gestured over to her left-“walking over the scanner and tapping your security pass. Security will let you right through that way with now delays.” She gave Oshiro a toothy grin. “Well, not today anyway. Both security lines are up and running”
Aiofemi appreciated the grin and returned it with one of her own. She nodded her head as she accepted the badge and said, “Thank you. “I have a question. Would my assistant need to sign in every time she visits? It is possible she could come here on my behalf frequently as the hospital is no too far from here.”
“Lieutenant Governor Dasca is on the second-to-last floor and it’s faster to take one of the far lifts as they only go to the upper half of the floors. When you come off the lift, turn right and down the hall are a set of offices. Those are her staff. Ms. Sreer will not doubt see you company and handle things from there. Welcome to Oed, Director Oshiro.”

After the receptionist had assisted Ai, she followed her instructions, walked to the lift, scanned her badge then programmed the Lt. Govenor’s floor into it. After reaching her destination she approached the Lt. Governor’s staff’s office. “Good morning, I am looking for Elema Sreer.” she paused a moment unsure she had pronounced the name correctly, then continued, “I am Dr. Oshiro, then new Director of Medical and Social Services. Security sent me up.” She sat her tote on a nearby desk and started searching for her new security badge only to quickly realize she had not put it in her bag and still had it in her hand. Ai briefly held it up before she placed the badge around her neck so she would not need to foolishly search for it again, then said, “My assistant, Samikah Jaxsyn, set up the meeting. Then she removed her beret from her head and began to smooth her hair.
