Tiberius chuckled a little with the response. He thought that response of ‘just the one that is true’ was really funny.

Dropping his foot to the floor and sitting upright, he rested his arms on the desk, lacing his fingers together. “This colony is not a starship and we can’t go about our day acting like it is. We have our own domain here but we interact with a variety of people on the regular, most of them civilians or the CCDA. This conversation we’re having now isn’t meant to be the end of us getting to know each other, but the beginning . And I’m going to hopefully ask questions that prompt some thought. You don’t have to have the answers today, but I expect you will be actively working to have it figured out in the next while as you settle in.” Does that make sense?”

Tiberius understood it was not the end of the discussion between the two of them. He was hoping it moved forward so this was very helpful for him. He enjoyed getting to know his commanding officer and he believed it would be helpful to keep this one extra close. Tiberius was hoping to start learning more about command and with the USS Centurion not having an XO, it might be a possibility here. While he was on the Titan, there really had not been any chances to show he wanted to move up in command. It seemed he might have been stuck there so when he had the possibility, he believed it was a good chance to get the command training he wanted. He was hoping he could hide it for a while before bringing it up.

“Any questions so far?”

Tiberius then responded to the captain, “I have no questions at this time. I am just trying to absorb everything. I look forward to moving foward with getting to know you and
expanding our understanding of each other. ” He then waited for the captain to continue.

McBride considered Cattaneo and quirked an eyebrow. “No questions at all? Okay, well if you’re in a hurry, you’re more than free to go,” the captain said with a loose gesture towards the door. It might have seemed flippant but he wasn’t about to waste either of their time. He certainly had enough of his own work to do.

Tiberius looked at the captain a little strange and somewhat confused and responded, “I am not in a hurry at all. I just did not have any questions as of yet. I am just taking everything in with the colony and trying to absorb as much as I can. Having all new folks to remember can be difficult for me. I was by no means trying to seem rushed and I apologize if it did.” He wondered if he already got on the wrong side of the captain. He was hoping he had not.

Silence filled the room for a few moments before the captain spoke again. “You didn’t have questions in the meeting with Dasca, and you don’t have questions now. You should have questions, Commander. This is a colony with millions of people. You’re in charge of Starfleet Security. You should have have a ton of questions that may or may not be able to be answered, but you should be thinking about it all and jumping in. Right now I’m getting the impression of someone who is reactive, rather than proactive and while I’ve only been here a few hours myself, I can tell you already this place will eat you alive. I don’t have time to babysit officers. You’re supposed to be experienced. Show me how you’re going to put that use here. My expectations are that you know what you’re doing and are willing to jump in, but if you don’t even have the observational skills to formulate questions that untrained people only here a few minutes would have, then I have serious reservations about your assignment here.”

Tiberius though for a second and responded, “I do have a number of questions but because I am new, I do not want to start stirring the pot or ruffling feathers. I like to try and take as much as I can in and then start create a list of questions from there. I apologize if that is not how your crew to ask questions.” Tiberius then asked, “What sort of footprint does Starfleet have with the colony and what sort of numbers on planet do we have from a Starfleet security staff? I am assuming this will be all available to me once I am able to setting in and read all the reports in my office. I just have not gotten to that point. Also, what has been going on from a security standpoint over the last few weeks? Have there been any major accidents or issues from a Starfleet security standpoint?” He then paused for a second and then continue, “What sort of items was the previous Chief of Security working on and what progress had been made prior to my arrival? ” Tiberius was hoping he was not over stepping his bounds as the Cheif.
