=/\=I understand your frustration, but there are a lot of moving pieces in all of this and we had no way to know how sincere they were. I wasn’t there for first contact and I was only just read into the situation when I was asked to go to Black Rock a few days ago.=/\= Mathis sighed. =/\=Could I have called you then? Yes, I admit that perhaps I should have. But I didn’t not expect this to progress so quickly as it did in this meeting. In my mind we would have weeks, not days to prepare. So you have my apologies, Governor, but please let’s be clear that no one is orchestrating anything to fail here. We want a good outcome for all of this, for both the Vren, and for Oed and the Federation. I was given instructions for how to proceed initially but I will have wide latitude for how I proceed from here on out.=/\= She would absolutely take responsibility for the things that were actually her fault, but it was all a complicated chain of events and there were other people higher up i the decision making process. It was very much a ‘Don’t Shoot the Messenger’ sort of situation even if she understood and agreed with their concerns.

Hyrushi was being stoic as usual and so Eela was coming to the conclusion that at least publicly, Eela would be the more expressive of the pair. That suited her just fine. And so in this moment, Dasca’s unease was apparent and her eyes flashed with a ferocity as she leaned towards the screen ever so slightly. =/\=Jeanette, I understand where you are coming from. I’ve been there myself. But you brought up the Khari. The thing you must absolutely understand going forward is that I will never consider the Khari a success. I get that on record it looks like one because we averted civil war, but that situation was terrible and the cost too high. I don’t give a shit what the higher ups consider a success or not, I will not let Oed be a testing ground for what Oed will or will not be a success.=/\= Her expression softened as she took a deep breath. =/\=We will determine that for ourselves and you are damn lucky I am the one in my position right now. And I think that’s all I have to say on the matter just now.=/\=
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Hyrushi was liking the new Lieutenant Governor more and more, but it didn’t show. =/\= Madame Ambassador, I’m sure you are going to be quite busy with the upcoming events. Please let us know your itinerary and when you arrive on Oed I hope we can get some time time for the three of us to talk face to face. Safe travels. =/\= and he simply cut the comms between the Ambassador and Oed. He looked at Eela for a long moment and then simply shook his head. =/\= The door will be open, Captain. =/\= and the comms went dark.
Hyrushi, Governor
For a moment Eela just sat at her desk, trying to control the flood of emotions. What Jeanette and even Kenzo might not have been able to tell was that Eela was nothing short of devastated in this moment. She had to focus on her breathing in order to push the Khari out of her mind. She didn’t blame Mathis either- she hadn’t been there, been a direct witness like Eela had. She hadn’t been the empath who stood one hundred metres from the blast that filled forty people. Forty people who never should have died in the first place.
Gathering herself, Dasca didn’t bother changing and simply left on her casual black bottoms and grey sweater. She threw a jacket on and simply signalled to her team that she was on the go. At 2300 hours. Not a time the Lieutenant Governor usually traipsed about the colony, and certainly her and Hyrushi didn’t meet in person this late. Something was definitely up but everyone was too professional to even let it show (or her feel) that they were curious. Gods she loved them for it, because right now she couldn’t handle anything else but the enormous weight of a possible Vren diplomatic contingent arriving at Oed.
Twenty minutes after Kenzo closed the call, Eela stepped out of the lift and simply walked into his place for the first time. She didn’t announce herself, though she knew someone would have told him of her arrival at The Presidium Towers. “I dearly hope you have booze,” Dasca called out.
