Eela nodded as she resumed her careful knife work. “Those were complicated times. I am curious how you responded to any of their criticism, especially given how in public facing situations many might want to be able to drawn hard and clear moral lines when there aren’t or might not be,” she said as she very methodically went about peeling the skin off of a round vegetable with a thick and slightly fuzzy skin.

Kenzo shrugged and said “I ignored them, mostly. I think that infuriated them more than any defense of mine would have.” He stopped the tearing of the leaves and looked at Eela, his face blank. “Although I did challenge the Moradian Senator to a duel when he impugned my honor and insulted the people of Norvella. That certainly got their attention.” and he went back to tearing without batting an eye.

Kenzo

Eela couldn’t help but laugh openly. “I can see it now,” she said, her eyes glittering. Chopping the vegetable (which was a vibrant range on the inside) into cubes, she added it to the others resting in a bowl and spun to face the stove. Hovering a hand over the pan, she grabbed some oil and after drizzling in a generous amount, she tipped the pan in a slow circle distributing the oil across the surface. Then she dumped the vegetables in with a sizzle and simply began to stir them with a wooden spoon.

“Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever eaten?” she asked, leaving the pan’s contents to sauté and turned back to face him, reaching for her glass to have another sip of wine.
