Eela’s hazel eyes gazed intently at Shiv. “I am aware of many details, but I have learned over the years that what is written down rarely covers the fullness of a person. I prefer to learn about people firsthand but I also trust in those that have earned that person’s respect. Do you believe there are things I should know before I meet with him?”

A smile played across Shiv’s face as she looked straight ahead and she said “Oh my yes. There certainly a few.” They reached the steps and Shiv stopped and said “Welcome to House Duroc, Lieutenant Governor. I hope you enjoy your visit.”and she made a small gesture with her hand and the detail around them dissolved as the guards moved back to their previous endeavors. Shiv smiled again and simply turned and walked away.
Eela couldn’t help but chuckle as Shiv walked away, somehow not surprised by the abrupt end to their conversation at all.
The doors opened slowly and just inside was a large hallway. Inside the door was a truly massive specimen of the Klingon race standing alone, heavily muscled arms crossed on their chest. The towering figure looked down at the Lieutenant Governor and said “Eela Dasca, retired Star Fleet Captain and now Lieutenant Governor of Oed V. I am Urg’tohn, Lord of House Duroc. Please follow me so we can talk.” His scarred visage shifted to Sunar. “You will wait here. Kvaar’ton will allow no harm to befall your charge in this place.” and he simply turned and began walking further into the well appointed hall.
Lord Duroc
Sunar gave a simple nod and Eela winked at the woman before she fell in step with Urg’tohn. He was so bloody tall that looking up at him all the time would cause a crick in her neck and irritate her back, so she allowed her gaze to take in the surroundings, noting how they decorated the place. “Are you a pleasantries first or get right down to business sort of person, Lord Duroc?” she said as she aimed to keep her pace matching his but to not seem like her shorter legs had to move faster. It was a skill she had mastered years ago and came in handy at unexpected times.
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Urg didn’t respond. He stared straight ahead and walked down the hallway, eventually coming to a single, large, metal and stone door. But he didn’t go through it. Instead, he turned to the left to a nondescript door and pressed his palm against the reader. The door slid open and Urg ducked through the door and into the room.
This was his realm and Eela was but a guest, so she simply followed quietly, letting him take the lead here.
It was obviously an office… of sorts. Windowless, with a large desk set on the opposite wall. Fabric hung from the walls to a central spot on the ceiling, giving occupants a feeling more akin to being in a tent than in a room. Large pillows lay scattered around a central pit with stones inside and small flames flickering between them, although they gave off no heat. Urg moved to the far side of the room and brought over a very large, high-backed chair. This he set in facing the pit, and he then repeated the process with a noticeably smaller chair on the opposite side of the fire.
Urg sat down in the larger chair and motioned for the Lieutenant Governor to sit in the other. He leaned back and crossed his hands on his chest and said “You asked to see me. Speak your mind, Captain.”
Urg, Son of Kvaar’ton
Reaching out with a hand, Eela settled herself into the chair, warmed by the fire. The whole effect of the room was cozy. Her hazel eyes took him and Eela was not rushed, waiting to speak until she was ready. “I’m the first to admit that what happened outside should not have. They acted with disrespect and they will be dealt with. But their purpose for coming here remains one that need to be dealt with. You see, Lord Duroc, we have undeniable evidence that an AWOL Starfleet officer is here at this embassy. Desertion is a chargeable offence and by Starfleet regulations they will face a court martial. If Lieutenant Luis Vargas is being harboured here at the Embassy, I would like to know why. If there are pieces of information that might change his AWOL status, I equally would like to know those so that we can make informed decisions about how to proceed.”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Urg was silent for a moment, staring at the Lieutenant Governor. He then said “The individual you speak of is known to me. And I am aware that he left Star Fleet without the proper documentation or permission. And he is here. But he is now a part of my House, Madame. And as such, I have no reason to release him to you.” and he waved a hand to dismiss the anticipated objection. “Yes, yes, yes… I know he broke your regulations. And yes I am quite certain your warrant us valid… from your perspective.” A small but unnerving smile crossed his face. “I might even have considered trying to work something out with you, Captain. Such as releasing him to you to face the charges and allowing him to serve out his sentence here. But that was before-” and he shouted the single word, “- your officers committed an act of aggression against my people.” He had risen slightly forward as he spoke, but as he finished he leaned back again. “So I’m sure you will understand when I say your concerns of the past actions of Vargas are of no concern of mine now. Nor do your Star Fleet regulations have any say here.”
