In some situations, guarding her reaction was absolutely necessary. But not now. To do so now would ruin what was happening in this moment. So, her genuine surprise remained etched into her features. Eela bowed her head to him, sensing that his apology was sincere. “I appreciate that, thank you. I know I’m walking into something of a complicated situation here and it’s going to take time for all of us to find our footing. I think if we can all be patient with each other, it’ll work out just fine.” Regardless of how anything else went tonight, this tiny moment felt like a success. Maybe they’d discuss the personal matter at a later point, maybe they wouldn’t but she was not one to carry grudges.
Sharah was quite good at hiding her own reactions. It was a required survival skill for people with her condition, even among her own species.
“Do either of you collect art or crafts? My daughter all but demanded I get right to decorating my apartment when I gave her the virtual tour. She called it dreary,” Dasca said raising her brows slightly. “Can’t blame her, it’s very bare. But what stuff I do have is delayed from Earth so I am on the hunt for special pieces to make it feel a bit more homey. I have very little besides some basic furniture, so I’m open to suggestions of artisans or places on the colony I can check out. My only caveat is that I don’t want pieces that are just pretty. Beautiful yes, but I was taught that art should move you. Be personal.”

Sharah shook her head, “No, not yet. Not for a lack of desire though. So far I’ve moved duty stations too often to really get to settle into a place. I do tend to collect plants though.” Of course since leaving Viking she had several more than when she left. She’d picked up a few more while on Deneva and a Upland Hispid Hair from Kovater while they were at Starbase 257 before making their to Oed. Her quarters were turning into her own miniature green house. “As for where to find pieces, I’m afraid I’m no help. I’ve been on Oed less than a month myself. Though the talk at the hospital is that the University’s art program will be having a Master/Apprentice display at the end of the semester.”

“Oh good! I’m not the only plant person around.” Eela smirked. “Though even as I say that I hear how ridiculous a comment that was given we have a whole botanical and agricultural science division,” she said with a laugh, shaking her head even as she took in the painting.
Tenkillet shook his head and said “Naw, not much of an ‘art’ kinda guy. My Ma, though… she does some of the best bead work you’d ever lay eyes on. Whole tribe says she’s one of the best we’ve ever had. And thats sayin’ something.” He looked around and said “Yeah, she’d get a real thrill outta this, I think.” and he took a drink. He then said “If you’re lookin’ for stuff for your place, though, you might wanna try the Plaza Exchange. Its a might rough from time to time, but you should be okay during daylight hours. Bit of advice, though… don’t go alone, and do not let them deliver. They’ll know your face, but that shouldn’t keep you from finding what you want.”

Dasca snapped her fingers and pointed at Tenkiller. “Good plan. Though security was a foregone conclusion. I have a detail with me tonight, though I have to say Sunar is excellent at blending into the crowd. I can have the illusion that I’m not constantly watched, even if the reality is vastly different.” Was it a strange new existence? Definitely. But it didn’t bother her all that much. It was just another thing she had to get adapt to.
“I also heard there was a food and artisan market in Sloan Square on occasion? I kind of like the idea of stopping by something like that regularly to pick up whatever food items are available and seeing what I can cook. I’m aiming to actually cook once a week but only time will tell if it’s too ambitious,” Eela said as she moved towards the next piece. The large blue and green fractal spiral was even more abstract and she found herself feeling like she was being pulled into it. It was partly an optical illusion, but she could hear her brace whir as it corrected her posture to keep with her movement ad stabilize her.
