There had been the press conference, so people knew she was on Oed, but so far the first couple days of her tenure as Lieutenant Governor had been spent moving into a mostly bare apartment, attending appointments and dealing with her extensive medical needs and trying to not only get to know her staff, but start to schedule the enormous number of meetings with various people in the government. Honestly, if she had a choice, she’d be in bed already, reading. But a large part of her takeaway from her meeting with Hyrushi was that the biggest issue she was facing here was essentially a PR one. People needed to not only see her in action, but see her as a part of the colony. The best way to do that was to get out into the community and be present with people. Talk with them. An art opening was high on the list of activities that not only fit the bill but excited her.
Her slider arrived and her two new bodyguards (Sunar and Isaac Morrison) gave her the all-clear to exit. That was going to take some getting used to but in reality she was used to security being around. Diplomacy, after all, was never for the feint of heart. She just wasn’t used to people being solely focused on her security. Isaac offered her a hand and she accepted the help. Her brace was working better but she was tired and that made her movements slightly more sluggish.
Stepping out, Eela had opted for dressy but relaxed. A sleeveless colour-block dress in blue, black and purple hugged her upper body but flowed from mid-torso to her ankles where she kept her gold heels low and manageable. Her black silver-streaked hair was loose except for a small section on either side that was secured at the back of her head with a small jewelled clip. Isaac stayed outside, but Sunar followed her in quietly.
Dasca took in the gallery with her hazel eyes, assessing the atmosphere with her empathic abilities. It was, like many things, a tool at her disposal. It wasn’t too busy and the one person she did know was in conversation already, so Eela simply began to take in the art pieces with deep and genuine interest.

Sharah looked over at the feel of a know presence. She tried not to stare too hard and evaluate Dasca’s health. Sometimes it was hard to turn off the job, especially when she had empathically experienced the pain of another person.
Tenkiller cast a glance in the Lieutenant Governor’s direction, and said “Damn, looks like the new politico is making her debut.” and then he looked back at Fayth and chuckled. He took a sip of his beer and said “Naw, I can tolerate him most days. Probably why he has me in his circus.” He pushed off the wall and went and stood near, but not next, to her and looked at the painting she had stopped in front of. “Im here ‘cause I know the artist that does the paintings. And me and Turner go back a ways, Outpost 42. I was the Security Chief there and he had a gallery. So he let’s me in to these these things and I try and drink all his beer.” and he grinned and tipped the bottle back for a drink.

Fayth shrugged with a grin. “If she enjoys art, I am willing to look past her position.” She shifted her posture to allow him them both to see the piece straight on. “A good acquaintance to have then. Are all Turner’s shows like this? Or are they widely varied? Do you know both the artists showing tonight?”
Fayth
Charles shook his head. “The sculptor no. Heard of her. Eccentric, dramatic, overly complicated. You know, typical artist.” and he gave a half-smile. “Turner makes every show unique, tailors it to the ‘feel’ of the art or some such nonsense. But he gets the crowds, so I guess he knows what he is doin’.” He cooked his head to the side a bit and he squinted at the painting. “What about you? Know anything about this one?” and he jutted his chin at the painting.

Eela paused, stepped back and considered one of of the metal sculptures. There was a rawness to it that spoke to her greatly, resonated in a way she couldn’t quite explain. She wanted to take it in much longer but wanted to makes sure she saw everything first. Then she’d come back. Moving along, Dasca exuded a calm and warm demeanour, smiling when her gaze met someone else’s. She was actually surprise to have people descend upon her and it was rather a nice departure from expectations. Thus she continued her quiet circle around the gallery.
Sharah nodded, “Artists, in my experience, see the universe very differently than the rest of us mere mortals. That perspective seems to influence their personality.” Sharah glanced back at the painting, head tipped to the side. “No, not about the artist anyway. Being stationed on a star ship doesn’t give one much of an opportunity to enjoy the works known or mysterious artists. The painting though reminds me of bio-electrical impulse waves in the body.”
She turned and waved at an approaching Eela as she approached beckoning her to join them. “Mrs Dasca, it’s nice to see you.” She glanced at Tenkiller with a smirk. “Tenkiller may I introduce Lt Gov Eela Dasca. Mrs Dasca this is Major General Charles Tenkiller, the Vice-Commander of the CCDA.”
Tenkiller came to a soft attention at the Lieutenant Governor’s approach and inclined his head slightly. “Ma’am.” The word was professional, but the man was obviously not happy at the retired Star Fleet officer’s arrival, although he hid it astonishingly well.
The Mrs caused an internal flare of tension but Eela knew that few people knew about her impending divorce. “I go by Ms if one prefers formalities,”she said with an easy smile as she bowed her head to Tenkiller. “It’s good to meet you Major General. I do believe I’ll be meeting everyone in your department more formally in the coming days, but it’s nice to get to know people outside of meeting rooms.”
“Prolly not, Ma’am.” the Major General drawled. “With things the way they are, we are keeping inter-divisional meetings to a minimum. I am briefing the Governor tomorrow, though. Maybe he’ll have you in for that.” and he took a drink of his beer, his eyes not leaving the Lieutenant Governor.
She waved toward the painting, “We were just discussing this piece. What do you make of it?” Sharah asked Eela.
Fayth
Turning her attention to the piece, her hazel eyes swept the piece with deep consideration. A small smile tugged at her mouth even as she seemed entirely focused on the painting. “It’s very fluid. Almost organized chaos.” She chuckled. “Reminds me of a few nebulae I’ve been in over the years. Clam and yet bursting with activity.” She returned her attention to Fayth and Tenkiller. “The artist is very talented.”

Tenkiller downed the remainder of his beer and said “I’m gonna grab another. Would anyone care for anything? Champagne? Ginger ale?” and he took a slow step away towards the bar.
