Oed V
Lieutenant Governor's Arrival
Eela sat in the overstuffed chair in the VIP quarters of the ship escorting her to Oed. She had told Roger over and over that the fluff and pomp and circumstance was not necessary and she didn’t want it. He called her obtuse. At least she didn’t take it personally, since they were still friends (miracle that that was). They had compromised on a small but defendable vessel that wasn’t going to draw too much attention, but still had amenities. All she needed was a bed, a shower and a working office set-up, but try telling that to a bunch of political aides. Uggh. Out here, right now, her life as a Starfleet Officer did matter, but it mattered less. It was just as well.
Dasca watched the unfolding events with a critical eye, not just as a diplomat used to trying to soothe fears, but as a government leader who would have to work with the man. She had to admit he had skills. Good. She would hate to have to be handholding there as she was pretty sure it wasn’t going to be her job. What exactly her job was was something she was still trying to figure out, but that would be something that would unfold in the next days and weeks.
“Ma’am, we’re in orbit. We’ve arranged a secure beam down. Security at the Tower is tight due to the protests. We can get you down, but Security will have to clear you from there.”
“Understood.”
“Anyone know I’m actually arriving?” Dasca asked as she rose from her chair.
“Uhhh, well, I’m not sure.”
She just couldn’t help but smirk. “Fantastic. Into the breach we go, folks.”
A few minutes later, Dasca materialized into the transporter facilities at the Government Tower. Her booted heels clicked as she stepped off the pad and she simply held her hand out out, palm down with an expectant look in her pale hazel eyes. Her long dark hair was swept up in an elegant twist at the back of her head, emphasizing her long neck. An open tailored jacket in a dark blue complemented wide legged trousers in the same colour, and a loose floral blouse hid her brace except when she stood.
One of the security guards stepped forth and read her palm, her ID and credentials instantly popping up. “Lieutenant Governor Dasca, welcome to Oed Five.”
“Quite the auspicious welcome,” she said dryly. “Sounds like a normal day to me.”
