Longstreet sat in his office. He looked at what he had. It was not much. It was a planned murder of the former Governor or the Symbiot or more likely both. The murderer looked like he was murdered afterward so this implies that a conspiracy of 2 existed at one point and maybe more. What was missing was the motive. There was a lot of maybes here and he was not yet ready to brainstorm the wild possibilities.

The Door the security Chiefs office chimed. As soon as permission was given it opened to show a familiar sight. The overly large Head of the Police force, Joseph Karlson, in his trademark blue suit and wooden cane stood there. He smiled widely at his old colleague “Preston, it’s been too long” He walked into the office and put out a massive hand “It’s good to see you”

Longstreet looked up at the man who had been buzzed in. When the ensign had told him who was there he half thought it was a joke. However here was the heavy set former and apparently now new Police Chief in front of him. Longstreet got up and shook the hand with a firm shake.

“Good to see you too Karlson.” He said and meant it. God he hoped the man stayed on. The colony could use him.

After the shaking of hands was done Joseph put on his more serious game face “Now I’ve been informed that one of yours was killed” He indicated to the guest chair in an asking manner “And that it was Zar” The large man sat down after receiving permission

Longstreet offered his hand as if to say have a seat.

“I was sad to hear that we lost Anu Zar, She was a good woman and a good friend” He placed his cane across his lap “But the murder of that young woman” He frowned “Well I am at your service. What do you know?”

“We don’t have much. Basically it was made to look like a possible robbery but as nothing was taken I think whoever did it wanted us to know. They killed the killer afterward or at least that is what it is looking like. No one has gone out of their way to hide it. I think they want us to know it was a conspiracy or similar thing and are eager to see us chase our tails. We are doing the final autopsy on the man found killed nearby but everything points to him doing the initial murder and then meeting up with the person who hired him. In turn he was killed.” Longstreet said opening his hands up as if to say that is what we have.

Joseph nodded “The odds against the murders being a coincidence are slim I’ll give you that” He started the thought process “But the Zar girl that was killed, Lieutenant Prim I believe, She was killed in a way that didn’t permanently damage the symbiont.” He crossed his arms “This may have been intentional. Is there evidence that points to the Lieutenant being killed for any reason? Motives and the like?”

“Were doing a search throughout her history to include where she was and had been. Nothing so far stands out. I’m not wondering if this was to get our attention. As you say the symbiot was not harmed and based on the killers weapon choice and surgical use of it he could have done both. So whoever paid him probably didn’t want the symbiot killed. Then again it could all be speculation because dumb errors are made even by hitmen.” Longstreet said.

Joseph nodded “Alright, I’ll see what we can find out about the Murderer, what he’d been upt o and the like. I’m assuming you want your Medical teams to handle the autopsy?” He asked courteously.
