Karilan blinked and then smiled. “This is so beautiful, so warm… did you do all the decorating yourself? If so, you have quite the eye for aesthetics.” and they turned and looked at her for a moment before stepping up to her and kissing her her for a long, long moment. Breaking the kiss, Karilan smiled and said “This is very much you, Kaili… warm, comforting, inviting. You have done very well.”

As Karilan stepped close to her and kissed her, Kaili wrapped her arms around their waist as she kissed them back in kind. And even after they broke their kiss, she didn’t let go. Instead she rested her head on their shoulder, her eyes closed and whispered, “Mostly, yes. At least the way I arranged everything here. But have had most everything I own for some time and my family helped me pick out a few things over the years.”

“Then they have good taste as well.” they said softly and leaned into her slightly. “But now we have a date, I think. I need to show you off somewhere, after all.” and they laughed.

Karilan

“And I guess I’ll have to show you my bedroom later,” Kaili giggled and then kissed the side of Karilan’s neck. “Unless you want to see it now,” she added in a soft murmur with her lips still touching their neck.

Karilan smiled and said “Mmmmm… I do. But no. Not yet. Lunch. We have to eat food. Then we can come back and you can show me everything.” They looked at Kaili and said “And if you offer again, we will miss yet another meal.” and they smiled. They knew they were powerless in the face of their desire for the woman before them…

Karilan

“Alright. I guess it would be bad for the Director of Medical and Social Services to die of starvation,” Kaili laughed and pulled back. Looking down at the pair of black slacks and and the simple teal coloured blouse she wore, she asked seriously, “Should I change into something else, or is this okay for where ever you are going to take me? And no, this isn’t a sneaky way to make us late for lunch.”

“You look beautiful. And truly… you are one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen.” and they kissed her again briefly before pulling away and saying “And you are dressed perfectly. Shall we?” and they offered her their arm.

Karilan

“Thank you, Karilan. You are an amazing person and absolutely beautiful; inside and out,” Kaili replied, her cheeks turning slightly pink. Slipping arm through theirs, she smiled, “Let’s go!”

Karilan smiled and led them out of the apartment and out onto the street. “Do you like seafood? I have heard of a fantastic place not too far from here. But I am open if you are in the mood for something else. I won’t lie… I asked a few of my staff to look up good places to eat.” and they laughed softly.

Karilan

“I love seafood!” Kaili exclaimed and leaned happily against Karilan as they walked towards the restaurant together. “And there is nothing wrong with asking your staff for recommendations. It’s the best way to avoid places that might give you food poisoning or something. And believe me, that is never fun.” She chuckled softly and shook her head as she remembered that very unpleasant experience a few years ago.

“I will take your word for it. My Aunt used to tease me that somewhere in my lineage was a Bolian. I can eat anything… never have gotten sick. It is a personal oddity that has always intrigued me slightly.” and he shrugged.

They chit-chatted for a few minutes before arriving at their location: Maren’s Chowder House. The outside was a bright red front with large windows. The center, however, was a large aquarium with all kinds of fish inside, and the door was set so that entering the restaurant you walked through the aquarium which surrounded you on all sides… even under your feet.

As they entered, the aromas of the place became stronger. Scents of the sea, herbs, and a multitude of other smells hung pleasantly in the air and a young human woman approached. “Welcome to Maren’s. Two today?” Karilan nodded and said “Yes, please.” and they were led to a table across the room and next to the far wall… also a floor to ceiling aquarium.
