They walked along the street. The Breen drew a few glances but no more. That area of the city was certainly not the high end luxury condos and rooftop swimming pools advertised on brochures and holo-vids. People were dressed for work. Miners, cargo loaders, maintenance technicians… criminals. These were the people that kept things moving and the toilets working. Vonn stopped at a small kiosk and ordered several skewers of pleasantly fragrant meat and rice and then took the wrapped food and began walking again. Soon they arrived at nightclub. As it was still ‘daylight’, the place was closed. A sign above the main door read Redd Lipps with a suggestively dressed Deltan woman pictured laying across the lettering. Vonn went past the doors and turned into an alleyway and moved into the shadowy break between the buildings. Reaching n old-fashioned fire escape, he took the steps two at a time all the way to the roof of the four story structure. Once there, he moved to a door set in a raised portion of the roof. Entering, they walked down a short flight of steps and came to another door. Vonn tapped his bracer and the door slid open and they entered a small but moderately pleasant flat. Furnished with standard things like a small couch, table, two chairs, and with two doors leading off from the main room and kitchen; Vonn pointed “That door is your room. Other is the refresher. Eat, then rest. We can talk now and after you get some sleep.”Vonn
The scent of the food reminded her she had not eaten…in a long while. The area of town was right up her alley though she could blend in just about anywhere. The night club didn’t really grab her attention except for being there. Until they climbed to the roof above it. It would be a great place to lose or find someone. By the time they reached the apartment Eryn was ready to forgo food and collapse against the nearest surface. Well maybe it wasn’t that bad, and even if it was she would never allow such laziness. She looked the room over glancing into each of the other rooms, putting the bag down, and getting a view out the windows before finally sitting. She wondered briefly about Kodak and his own accomodations and needs, but he was more than capable of seeing to himself. Apparently unlike her for the last month. She took the rice, knowing from experience not to force meat too soon after so long without decent food. “Tell me what I need to know. The rest can come later.”

Vonn moved over to a wall opposite the door and sat down heavily on the floor. He pulled a pile or cables from behind a small cabinet and connected them to a port on the belt of his suit. A slight hiss could be heard and the suit seemed to inflate slightly. “Casela Synthi-er is dead. There was enough of your DNA left from the good doctor’s attentions that it was determined that you were indeed present when the facility was destroyed. The good doctor was not at the location however. He was residing in a Tal-Shiar cortical-loop generator on a powered down shuttle in high polar orbit at the time. The loop was… not a pleasant experience. He is still wanted by Section 31… although I sincerely doubt they will ever find him. As for the rest… that can wait until you are rested. I have made arrangements for some work. Should take me the better part of two standard days. Local. But that will give you time to rest and recover. I would recommend that you stay here until I get back. The replicator is online. The doctor will stop by tomorrow to check on you as well. What else do you want to know?”
Vonn
Eryn nodded, the ‘good doctor’, as Vonn put it, would be a problem for later. “Who ever has him better kill him. I have suspected for many years that he is connected with a corrupt higher up of Section 31. Corrupt being a relative term.” She would be here mostly alone then. “Who are they neighbors? Height, weight, general description. I would hate to accidently hurt someone I shouldn’t. Who does the landlord think is living here, if they bothered to ask. I won’t be going anywhere, that would be foolish and stupid. Also do you have anything quieter than a disruptor?” The rice didn’t bother her stomach and so she tried the meat, but after two pieces decided it was time to stop. She got up slowly, accepting but also irritated of how slowly she had to move and the lightheadedness. Probably a combination of the pain medication and she was sure simple physical exhaustion of her body trying to heal from the damage. She moved over to the replicator for water. She watched him a moment hooked up to the cords, sitting on the floor, as if she could see his face despite the helmet. “I owe you a debt Vonn, but more than that my gratitude.”

The Breen didn’t move. “No neighbors. This is the only flat. It also doesn’t appear on the building plans. The original owner made it for a place to have his trysts without his wife knowing… but that didn’t work out very well. It was boarded up and forgotten about for a number of years. New owner discovered it when they scanned the building looking for a hidden wall safe. Left it alone. They then had to sell the building to accommodate some outstanding debts. Current owner decided to make it a safe house. Scanner dispersion material in the walls makes it appear as a machinery closet. Also hides biological signatures. Fire escape is equipped with height, weight, and gait analytics. Tritanium reinforced doors and surveillance, both audio and visual. Hallway has ten kilograms of thermite under the floor wired to plasma grenades.Roof is standard, but with deuterium underlay three centimeters thick. I am confident no one can get inside without bringing down the entire building with them. And you owe me nothing. You are a friend. And you were in trouble. I did what a friend should.”
Vonn
Demolitions…wonderful…that was not her strength…she listened as he laid out the specifics of the security system. Alright so she was not leaving the flat. The way her luck was going she’d limp too much or not enough, change her gait and blow herself up. No she wasn’t that careless and she was letting her bad humor have too much say. She inclined her head to him, Vonn was right. “But I am grateful, Kodek, that you are my friend. I wasn’t ready to die yet.” Taking the water with her, she went into the bedroom and closed the door. The rustle of the bag being moved and opened, then two slight ‘pop hiss’ as she administered the meds. Almost silent foot falls could be heard as she moved slowly around the room, getting familiar, and then the soft squeak of the mattress. The disrupter went nearby with in easy reach, and then with rapidity born from years of necessity she was asleep.

It was a opening of the door that sounded more than anything. Then the light footsteps on the floor, not the heavy armored boots of a Breen suit. “Are you awake?” said a voice from the other room. It was familiar, but not known.
The doctor… or rather… the vet. “Vonn told me to check on you. I won’t come in unless you say it’s okay.”
