When she had said she’d see him later, Halai knew she’d make good on his offer. There was something about the man that she couldn’t describe and when combined with her deep awareness was impossible to ignore. It wasn’t electric in the way that desire and passion could be, but there was something deeply sensual about it and while it intrigued her, she also felt sad and lonely. She was doing her best to move on, but it was hard and Halai knew she couldn’t pretend otherwise.

Arriving at the doctor’s quarters, she hadn’t bothered to really change, but she left her jacket back in her quarters and was still wearing the same jeans and t-shirt from earlier. She pressed the chime and waited patiently.

Akem had, up until then, been preparing for eventual arrival. He was prepared to give Halai a chance to truly take some time to reduce some of the stress she carried. His abilities as a Deltan certainly would help with that, along with the physical remedies he had learned over the years.

The doors opened to the appearance of Akem in a long, white, silky coat. His unwavering, confident eyes met her own with a smile on his face. “Greetings,” he stated as he moved aside to allow her to enter.

“Hello,” she said softly as she stepped in to meet him. Halai met his strong gaze with her own and once again felt that compelling connection between them. She knew it wasn’t just in her mind and she wondered if he could sense it too.

Inside was a comfortable area. Akem seemed to be staying on the Black Sparrow as much of what was there was not of a temporary nature. He had a separate area for sleeping, however in the main area of his cabin would be a long couch with an equally long beverage table in front of it. To the right was his personal room and a shelf with supplies of various sorts. To the left of the entrance was a small waterfall fountain that created the sounds reminiscient of a small waterfall on a planet’s surface. In the center of the room was a fancy chair of sorts. And if one paid close enough attention, she might also note panels on the floor indicating other potential areas for storage or who knew what.

“How are you feeling right now?” he inquired as he held out a hand to lead her further in.

Halai reached and set her hand in his, once again feeling her korsiolo flare. She was thoughtful, letting her thoughts come to her mind without rushing before replying. “Anxious, worried, excited, tired, sad, lonely,” she said honestly. She was all that and more and this trip was not only going to settle something but as she well knew it would also be the beginning of other things.

Akem led her to the chair. “So many feeling all at once.” he said pointedly. Akem gestured to the chair for her to have a seat while he spoke. “Let’s start with anxious. Shall I assume its because of where we are going?” he inquired thoughtfully, the only other sounds in his quarters being the flow of the waterfall in the corner of the room, the lights dimmed low.
